MISSION STATEMENT Our mission is to provide an opportunity for our youth to learn team building skills, accountability, problem solving, respect, sportsmanship, and a sense of community through fun and fitness by way of lacrosse. The most common concern or statement we hear in admittance or almost pre-defense is: I don t know ANYTHING about lacrosse. If that resonates with you welcome to New Prague Lacrosse. Absolutely NO experience necessary whether you are a player, coach, administrator, or happy sideline parent. Come aboard. You re in good company, you re in the right place. 1
HISTORY We have record dating back to 2008 of correspondence with the High School Activities Director and 2009 of correspondence with Community Education in an effort to start youth and high school lacrosse in New Prague. In 2010 we hosted a try lacrosse opportunity with Community Education and only had one child register. It wasn t until the Summer of 2014 that our first official seven week free clinic was offered over which more than 85 boys and girls ranging from 6 to 16 years old scooped groundballs, learned to pass, catch, and shoot, and heavily pondered what next Spring would hold for them. Late February of 2015 came around and, with the help of New Prague Community Education, 4 girls and 63 boys formed U11, U13, and U15 teams to compete in the MBSLA for our inaugural season. 2
NEW FOR 2018 ASSOCIATION 2018 brings some slight administrative adjustments. Our former Treasurer, Julie Fish, and family have moved on to their next adventures in life. Julie made significant improvements to our financial practices that we will appreciate for years to come. We also owe a huge debt of gratitude to former President Chris Brandt and family. The Brandt family was at the core of launching the efforts to organize lacrosse in our area. There is no doubt that, without their efforts and sacrifices, New Prague Lacrosse would not be anything near what it is today. Derek Schmidt migrated from Vice President to President. Tammy Scribner, is the new Vice President. Michelle Buetow stepped-up to take over the Treasurer role. We are also grateful to have a new, three person, equipment and facility committee made up Bob Rudy Fenner, Dan Dias, and Richard Gorr. Welcome aboard, friends, and thank you! LEAGUE The MBSLA has dissolved. The 9/10 league is now being ran under the GNLL. 3

HELP/VOLUNTEERISM New Prague Lacrosse Association is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our volunteer-driven existence relies on the non-monetary contribution of many selfless individuals. Perhaps your hobby or professional skills translate to benefit our program. We need to hear from you. Without volunteers your child simply does not have this opportunity available to them. Help make their experience everything it can be and more! Please email our director today if there is an area you can contribute. All teams depend on volunteer coaches ( two to three ), a team manager, and parents to keep game time and score. The association is currently seeking an individual or two to manage the website. The association is also in need of a boys manager coordinator to help guide new team managers and rally the collective. 5
PRACTICES & GAMES PRACTICES Each team will have separate practice schedules. Days, times, and locations will be established after registration. Historically, practice has been conducted for an hour to an hour and a half, twice each week. The High School 9/10 team will start practicing indoors during March. The younger teams will start practicing outdoors during mid-april or as early as weather permits. GAMES The High School 9/10 and youth schedules will be drafted on February 24th. After the scheduling meeting the league will make any necessary resource efficiency tweaks, assign officials, and publish the schedules within a few weeks (sometime late March). Until then, it is 100% out of our control. We will distribute the 2018 Spring schedule within a few hours of receipt. Games are double-headers (8U is single games) typically played one day per weekend. During the regular season the 8U team will have about 8-10 games, the 10U team about 10-12, the 12U and 14U teams about 12-14, and the High School 9/10 team about 10-12. The High School 9/10 playoffs will be at the beginning of June. The youth season will conclude at the end of June with a post-season tournament. We promise not to schedule games on Memorial Day weekend. 6
