CHEERLEADING TRYOUT PACKET 2018 2019 1

2018-2019 Cheerleading Tryout Packet Dear Candidate/Parent or Guardian, Thank you for your interest in the Braswell High School Cheerleading Program. It is important that parents and candidates are aware of what is expected during the week of tryouts, as well as what will be expected should your son/daughter be selected as a squad member. There is a great commitment on the part of each student selected as a Braswell Cheerleader and their parent. We hope you will find your experience rewarding. The tryout dates for the BHS Cheerleading Squad will be as follows: Monday, March 5 th & Tuesday, March 6 th (4:30 6:00PM daily) TRYOUT CLINIC Wednesday, March 7 th (4:30 5:30PM) OPTIONAL Thursday, March 8 th (4:30 6:00PM) MOCK TRYOUTS *This may take longer than expected, but we will keep you updated Friday, March 9 th (4:30 END) TRYOUTS Every candidate, unless academically ineligible or suspended, will attend all daily practices. The tryout clinic is mandatory unless the candidate is absent from school or academically ineligible. During the clinic days, candidates will learn the tryout material and procedures. On the day of tryouts, each candidate must stay the full tryout period for the squad he/she is trying out for to allow for judging callbacks. Tryouts are closed to the public. Only the sponsors, administrators/staff, and judges will be allowed in the gym. Cheerleaders/Mascot for the 2018-2019 school year will be posted on the Braswell High School cheer website immediately following tryouts. A MANDATORY informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 21 st at 6:00 PM in the Braswell High School Lecture Hall. Parents of all candidates who wish to tryout must attend, and candidates are highly encouraged to attend. This meeting will provide additional information about the program as well as the tryout process. If you are unable to attend this meeting, please contact Coach Bohne immediately. The application attached must be completed and turned in at the meeting on February 21 st. Late applications will not be accepted. A current physical and a 4x6 (or larger) headshot of the applicant must be attached. ALL applicants MUST turn in a current physical evaluation to tryout. All Denton ISD athletes must have a new physical at the beginning of their 7th, 9th, and 11th grade years (no exceptions). Please make sure that the doctor fills out the physical form and all Rank One medical forms are submitted online by the parent. This will need to be completed before we begin practices and/or attend camp. Cheerleading is a full year commitment and requires many hours outside of school. This commitment requires enthusiasm and dedication from both cheerleaders/mascots and their parents. We hope each of you will be willing to give your support to your daughter/son and their squad, as we prepare for a successful 2018-2019 school year! Thank you, Coach Bohne cbohne@dentonisd.org 972-347-7728 2
