Introduction The roots of the D-Fantastica project are inspired by the desire to get a more efficient and powerful hull. Using all the most recent CAD design solutions for the hull design and 3D aerospace and automotive technologies for the production of tools, both connected through knowledge and skills of Devoti Sailing team resulted in the D-Fantastica. Much progress has been made in achieving a near perfect shape and symmetric hull and also in the internal structures. Objectives To design a new hull shape to improve performance. To create a full 3D model and enhance the construction techniques. Process Analysis of the Rules. Analysis of Devoti existing hull shape, which has won all possible podium places for more than a decade. It was realized that the Rules allow for a bigger margin of improvement than anticipated. Evaluated several shapes within the scope of the Rules, before deciding to focus on the reduction of volume in the middle and get the straightest possible lines at the aft section of the hull. With a complete hull shape started consultancy with all the team to decide final version. Then a full 3D model was created around the new hull, which incorporated also some changes in the cockpit and deck. Summary Measurement by digital templates applied on the new hull. Curvature analysis of the final shape. Completing of the final 3D model ready to produce new tooling. Note results of the last World Cup regatta in Palma, Princess Sophia Trophy 2016: All TOP 20 boats were only D-Fantasticas. Additionaly the first 50 boats ranked in regatta were made by Devoti Sailing - 39 D-Fantasticas and 11 Devoti Classics. D-Fantastica
Other Classes Building on that success, the company has developed a range of boats, specialising in the pinnacle of dinghy racing, and have developed the D-One, the D-Zero and the Devoti Optimist. Devoti Sailing were best known for building great Finns but are now just known for building great boats. Hull designed by Phil Morrison and using the best materials and technology available to provide a unique sailing experience, the Devoti-One is built using carbon fibre and foam, constructed in CNC moulds, giving a stiff light hull. The carbon mast, boom and bow sprit maintain quality throughout and the boat has been extensively tested by a team of top sailors to make sure it s a winner. Upwind the Devoti-One is powered by a large 11,5 m2 fully battened main sail that has enough power to be hiking early but easy to keep control when it gets fresher. Downwind, using the 13,2 m2 gennaker, the boat is stable and easily driven with plenty of power to the highly manoeuvrable and lightweight hull. From the leading builders of the Olympic Finn, the Devoti-One has achieved international success. D-zero Devoti Sailing is delighted to introduce the last Devoti baby - D-Zero. The D-Zero was launched at the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show 2014, at Alexandra Palace, London. The D-Zero is based on the Punk dinghy, the unique concept designed by Dan Holman. The Punk has already enjoyed considerable success on the UK dinghy racing circuit. Helmed by Dan himself, on PY 1050, the Punk has made a memorable impression at some of the UK s best known handicap events. But the main thing missing has been a prominent boat builder to build and market this great design. After extensive testing at the Dinghy Academy in Valencia, Spain, the cooperation between Dan and Devoti has refined the original concept design and produced a boat that is poised to take the single handed dinghy market by storm. The Punk was a great boat, the D-Zero is spectacular! The D-Zero is a single handed performance dinghy, fully fitted by Harken, with a two piece carbon mast and a 8.1m2 sail, raised by a halyard, and a carbon boom. The hull is 4.2m long overall with a beam of 1.42m. It comes complete and ready to sail. The D-Zero is a fresh approach to traditional singlehanded sailing one size fits all, sailing together and having fun. Free from gimmicks, vices and clutter- a refined and ultimately very rewarding sailboat designed to bring the beach boat to the 21st Century. no cheap and nasty compromises Supplied with an up-to-date mylar mainsail from North Sails One Design, carbon spars from CompoTech and a Harken fit-out as standard throughout.
