Monday August 15, 2016 No School - Teacher's Institute Tuesday August 16, 2016 Since it has been raining for the past couple of days, the baseball, softball, and soccer games that were supposed to be played at Whiteside today have been cancelled. We are trying to reschedule, and will let you know as soon as possible when those games will be played. Attention baseball, softball, and soccer players. The parent meeting is scheduled for tomorrow after practice at 4:30 in the gym. Your parents are required to attend a parent meeting. If they can t attend tomorrow s meeting, the make-up meeting is Monday after practice at 4:30. They must attend one of these meetings. Please remind your parents to come to either tomorrow s meeting at 4:30 or Monday s meeting, also at 4:30. If you have any questions, please ask your coach or Mrs. Kowalski. Wednesday, August 17, 2016 The baseball, softball, and soccer games that were supposed to be played yesterday against Whiteside have been rescheduled. We will be playing at Whiteside on Monday, August 22. All teams have practice today after school. The first parent meeting will be held after practice today at 4:30 in the gym. If you attended BMX Camp this summer, please stop by Mr. Strausbaugh s room sometime today to pick-up your t-shirt. Thursday, August 18, 2016 Good Job with Dress code!

Friday, August 19, 2016 Attention all softball, soccer, and baseball players. There will be a short meeting immediately after school today in the gym. You should go directly to the gym after 8th hour, after going to your hall locker. You will be able to change for practice after the meeting is over. Yesterday the Belle Valley Soccer Team played their first game against Shiloh. Although Belle Valley played a great game, it wasn t enough to defeat the tough Shiloh team. The final score was 6 to 1. Adam T. had a fantastic break away play to put a point on the board for the Bombers. Great effort from all of the Soccer players! Don t forget we will have practice today right after the athletes meeting in the gym.

Monday, August 22, 2016 Good luck to the baseball, soccer, and softball teams as they travel to Whiteside today to play at 4:15. Bus leaves at 3:15. Also, just a reminder that the makeup parent meeting and team and individual pictures are Wednesday for softball, baseball, and soccer. Please remember to bring your picture form and money to school on Wednesday if you choose to purchase pictures. Tuesday August 23, 2016 Yesterday the Belle Valley Soccer Team played their second game against Whiteside. Although everyone played a great game, it still wasn t enough to beat Whiteside. The final score was 8-3. Adam T. had a hat trick, scoring all three goals for the Bombers. It was a great effort by all. Don t forget we have a game today at Grant and Team pictures tomorrow. Do not forget to bring a clean uniform to practice tomorrow. Meet in Coach Clark s room after school. The Bomber baseball team played their first game of the season last night on the road at Whiteside. The Warriors came out ready to play and outscored Belle Valley 15-0 in 4 innings. Byron J. and Joel O. pitched for the Bombers and Dylan J. had a solid game behind the plate catching. Our Next game is tonight at Grant at 4:15, bus will leave at 3:15. Go Bombers! The softball team began its season last night against Whiteside but ended the evening with a loss. After an injury last week to Rylee S, Sydni B. made her first pitching appearance in her Belle Valley career. Sydni showed great patience and poise during the game. Ellie J. had the defensive play of the game when she threw out a runner at home plate on a ground ball to third base. Kiera G. applied a perfect tag on the runner. Ellie also had an unassisted double play, catching a line drive and tagging a runner at third base with bases loaded. Congratulations to Alicea V. for calming her nerves to pitch the final inning of the game. She was extremely nervous on the field as she just began pitching last Friday at practice. Coach Howard and Coach Musso are proud of each player and their effort. Keep working hard. Practice today after school until 4:30. Wednesday, August 24, 2016 The Belle Valley Baseball team played their second game of the season last night at Grant Middle School. Our Bombers took the early lead 4-0, and looked good at the plate and in the field. Grant did not give up and eventually tied the score 4-4. In the end the Bombers fell just short, losing in a heartbreaker 9-8 in six innings. Dylan J, Tommy S, Codey V, Michael A, Joel O, Byron J, and Jeano P. all had hits for the Bombers. Tommy S. pitched 4 solid innings, and Blake

G. pitched 2 excellent innings in relief. Pictures today right after school, quickly change into your game uniforms and come to Coach Gleadle s room. Homeroom teachers, please allow players to call home if necessary. The Belle Valley Soccer Team played their third game on the road against Grant Middle School. We played a good first half, trailing Grant with a score of 3-1. Although we played a fantastic game as a team, we couldn t keep the ball out of our end of the field, ultimately resulting in a 6-1 loss. Adam T. scored the goal for the Bombers but had some great help from Mallory M, Precious S, David J, Dominic T, Meghan S, and Alexis B. Coach Clark is very proud of the improvements he is seeing at each game. Players, don t forget we have pictures after school! Please change into your uniforms immediately after school and meet in Coach Clark s room. Thursday, August 25, 2016 Good luck to the softball, baseball, and soccer teams as they play Wolf Branch today at 4:15 at home. Friday, August 26, 2016 Last night the Belle Valley Soccer Team played at home against Wolfbranch. Wolfbranch was able to get an early lead against the Bombers, which left us trying to play catch up the rest of the game. Although we had a rough start to our game, The Bombers played a much better second half only giving up one goal. The final score was 10-0. Although we lost, it was a great effort from all of the players. Remember we will have practice today after school. The Bomber Baseball team played our first home game last night against the Wolf Branch Wolverines. Wolf Branch won the game with a final score of 21-6 in 4 innings. Blake G, Michael A, Byron J, and Kaleb S. each pitched an inning. Although we lost, our team is working hard to come together and play good baseball. We showed some signs of good team play, and we will continue to build on the fundamentals and get better. The next game is Tuesday at Joe Arthur. Practice today after school. The softball team lost to Wolf Branch last night. Lauren B. and Sydni B. both had a hit for the Bombers. Kiersten C. had a walk and scored a run. We started off the game strong, scoring a goal in the first half, thanks to Mallory McGrew. Unfortunately, EMGE was able to answer back with a goal, to tie the game. Although we played a strong game on defense and offense, it wasn t enough to win. The final score was 4-1. There was a great effort from every single player that was on the field yesterday. Teachers please take some time to compliment these fine young men for doing the right thing and coming to school dressed appropriately. Oops. I see only one this morning in a classroom so far who is pushing his luck with his choice of apparel. Or should I say his choice of how he is wearing his clothing. Please remind the students of the appropriate dress and send anyone who is not following the dress code to find some fashionable clothing from the nurse s office. Now it s the ladies turn. Ladies, great job. It looks as though our wonderful ladies are wearing

shirts that do not hang too low. Thank you for fixing that concern and remember to look in your mirror before walking out of the house in the morning. Thank you teachers. The Bomber baseball team played their last home game last night vs the Emge Eagles. The Bombers played well early, keeping the score close through 4 innings. Wednesday, September 21, 2016 Belle Valley School District would like to congratulate Megan Bayless for earning the Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award. Mrs. Bayless goes above and beyond her role as a teacher in the classroom. She is the President of our PRIDE Team, where she meets regularly to design, teach and promote citizenship and character development in all aspects of students' lives. This role takes a great deal of time by meeting monthly with other teacher members, planning multiple learning activities, assemblies, service field trips and much more. Not only is Megan a leader in character education, but she is also a lead special education teacher and taken on several leadership roles throughout her 8 years at Belle Valley. Megan also works countless hours to meet the needs of a full case load of 5th and 6th grade special education students. She co teaches with math and ELA teachers and works outside the classroom to incorporate necessary lesson adjustments and modifications for her students to learn, grow and be successful. Megan is creative when planning her lessons. She is tech savy and incorporates technology as an instructional tool, but also a learning tool for her students. She designs her lessons that allows her students to explore and learn through application, and not as much direct teacher instruction. Mrs. Bayless holds her students to high expectations, but expects more than 100% from herself. She is truly an asset and excellent educator. Kudos to Megan Bayless
