OCTOBER Program Guide 2017 Season 3 316-838-3090 www.kpts.org tv8@kpts.org

Sunday Nights with Season 2 @ 8PM Starting October 1 @ 9PM Starting October 8 Season 3 finds Ross and Demelza attempting to repair their relationship, while George Warleggan builds his empire to crush the Poldarks. Elizabeth harbors a dangerous secret, and Dwight is captured during the war with France. Will Ross risk everything to save his friend? In post-world War II, Paul Sabine is restoring Paris as the fashion capital of the world. His dresses are a sensation, and only his shady past and an inconvenient corpse block his way to success. Dressing up was never so dazzling or dangerous. @ 7PM Starting October 15 Louisa Durrell (Keeley Hawes, Upstairs Downstairs) and her four willful children return in the acclaimed series called irresistible (The Wall Street Journal) and gorgeous (USA Today). The second season continues to chronicle the family s adventures with the island s townspeople, customs and wildlife. Repeats @ 11PM. Monday, October 2 @ Noon & 8PM On October 2, 1970, two charter planes carrying Wichita State University football players, coaches and boosters left Denver heading for Logan, Utah. One plane followed the charted course. The other plane deviated from the plan and crashed into the side of a mountain. Thirty-one people died in that crash, but nine survived. The tragedy forever altered the University and the Wichita Community as a whole. Tuesdays @ 7PM Starting October 3 Monday, October 9 @ 9PM The acclaimed series returns with Professor Gates exploring the mysteries, surprises and revelations hidden in the family trees of popular figures including Scarlett Johansson, Ted Danson, Larry David, Ava DuVernay, Bryant Gumbel, Garrison Keillor, William H. Macy, Suzanne Malveaux, Ana Navarro, Amy Schumer, Mary Steenburgen, Christopher Walken and more. While the United States was publicly engaged in the Vietnam War, a secret conflict was raging just next door in the country of Laos. Under the command of the CIA, a full-blown military operation engulfed Laos, with a select few of the U.S. Armed Forces participating. Repeats Tuesday, October 31 @ 9:30PM. Monday, October 9 @ 10PM Stories in Thread focuses on Hmong Pa Dau or Story Cloths. The hand-made textiles are integral to what it means to be Hmong in America. The Hmong fought alongside American Soldiers and CIA operatives as a secret army in the Vietnam War. When the war was lost they faced a campaign of genocide. Many came as refugees to the United States. Despite this significance of Pa Dau to identity and cultural survival, the art form is disappearing. The perspective of the elder generation, the fighters and refugees from Laos, is expressed in their own Hmong language and their fear of cultural loss is immediate and painful. Repeats Tuesday, October 24 @ 9:30PM.

Saturdays @ 9:30PM Starting October 14 Look who's joining the Saturday night British lineup. Socially inept Miranda always gets into awkward situations; working in her joke shop with best friend Stevie, being hounded by her pushy mother, and especially when she's around her crush Gary. Repeats Wednesdays @10PM. Thursday, October 26 @ 8PM Paul O Neill shows the past, present and future of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) through live video and interview segments taken during their annual Winter Tour and from their debut rock theater tour "Beethoven s Last Night," filmed in Dallas, Texas. Get a look at how TSO developed into one of the top 10 live shows in the country. Tune in tonight for a ticket opportunity to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra at Intrust Bank Arena, Friday, December 8, 8:00 p.m. 6:30AM Monday & Tuesday, October 30 & 31 Membership Drive Tune in for an opportunity to see Wild Kratts at the Orpheum Theatre, Wichita, May 19 @ 1PM Showing Discover the real story of the notorious author, starring Denis O Hare as Edgar Allan Poe. Explores the misrepresentations of Poe and reveals how he tapped into what it means to be human in a modern and sometimes frightening world. Thursday, November 9 Holiday Inn Wichita East (549 Rock Road S.) Doors open at 5:00 p.m. for the VIP Meet and Greet. Program begins at 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 30 @ 8PM Edgar Allan Poe: Buried Alive October 18-22 tallgrassfilm.org Keynote Speaker Mark Oz Geist Co-Author of "13 Hours" Member of Benghazi Annex Security Team Marine CORPS Veteran/First Responder For sponsorship or ticket information go to kpts.org.
