PATEL CONSERVATORY DANCE SUMMER CAMPS/CLASSES 2018 The Patel Conservatory dance department offers both enrichment and pre-professional training through Next Generation Ballet (NGB), Patel Conservatory Youth Ballet (PCYB), Patel Conservatory Popular Dance (PCPD) and the Open Dance program. DANCE CAMPS/INTENSIVES NGB SUMMER INTENSIVE A premier training ground for ballet students, this summer intensive allows dancers to experience individual attention in ballet, pointe, men s, partnering, contemporary, jazz and stretch/conditioning classes with NGB s award-winning faculty and international guest instructors. To accommodate dancers who require schedule flexibility, there are two-week, three-week and dorm options available. Designed for students who have interest in more popular forms that appear in the commercial dance industry, this intensive offers student s access to teaching artists with years of professional experience on Broadway, on tour, and in television and film. Designed at two levels, for beginners and intermediate students, ballet classes strengthen dancers and provide the necessary basic techniques for dance study. The beginning class introduces students to dance concepts such as turnout, line, posture and basic vocabulary while the intermediate class builds on these basics to include more challenging footwork, choreography and exercises to develop the dancer s technique and movement vocabulary. Instructor approval is required for this class. JAZZ DANCE Grade 9-Adult JUN 5-AUG 7 TUE 7:15-8:45PM This class, for all levels, incorporates skills in popular styles of jazz dance, including lyrical jazz and Broadway/Fosse. TAP DANCE Grade 9-Adult Introduction JUN 7-AUG 9 THU 6:00-7:00PM Beginning JUN 5-AUG 7 TUE 5:45-7:15PM Intermediate JUN 7-AUG 9 THU 7:00-8:30PM A popular series of classes at three levels, Tap Dance instructs beginning and intermediate tappers in fundamentals of syncopation, combinations and simple turns then advances to include more challenging choreography. Because of the popular demand for tap classes, Tap 3 is for intermediate students with at least two years of tap experience who want more advanced steps at a faster pace.
