Assembly and Use WARNING: This device is designed fr 120V (60Hz) pwer. In cuntries with 240V pwer surces, a step-dwn vltage cnverter must be used. 1. Detach the clear plastic faceplate frm the pump by remving the 5 large Phillips-head screws n the frnt. 2. Ntice that there is a semi-circular path that accmmdates a length f tubing beneath the faceplate. Orient the rtating arm f the pump at 3 'clck s nne f that path is blcked.
3. Insert the wide tubing int the pump, starting with the end nearer the bag at the 4 'clck psitin, wrapping arund clckwise, and exiting at the 2 'clck psitin. 4. Replace the clear face-plate and hang the "bld" dispensing bag n the metal stand. 5. Cnfirm that the tw segments f narrw tubing with metal fittings are attached t the tw red prts at the bttm f the bag. One f these returns arterial "bld" t the bag, and the ther supplies the venus system.
6. Fill the bag with water abve the level f the large tube, and insert the rubber stpper t prevent leakage. (Fr added realism, use a slutin f the prvided simulated bld cncentrate, instead f water.) 7. Turn n the pump t circulate fluid thrugh the arterial side f the circulatin, until bubbles have stpped rising inside the bag. 8. Open the pinch valve n the small venus drain tubing (the ne withut a fitting n the end). Let the end f the drain tube hang lw int a reservir f sme kind. This will allw fluid t flw frm the bag, filling the veins and pushing ut any air. 9. When fluid withut bubbles flws frm the venus drain tube, clse the pinch valve. 10. All air is nw remved frm bth the arterial and venus vasculature, and the arm is ready fr prcedures. Running the pump will generate a pulsatile arterial pressure and flw. 11. T increase the pressure in the arteries and veins, replace the rubber stpper n the bag with the squeeze bulb fitting, and inflate the bag as desired. N increase in bag pressure simulates difficult r cllapsed veins. Mderate pressure simulates prminent veins. High pressure simulates a clenched fist and turniquet.
Care and Cautins This simulatr is t be used as a part f an apprved educatinal prgram fr healthcare. It is nt a substitute fr traditinal learning methds and shuld nt be used fr clinical decisin-making. Use f needle sizes 22 gauge and smaller will extend the lifetime f the resealing skin and tubing. D nt use antiseptics cntaining idine. They will stain the skin and make it brittle. Ball-pint pens and markers will permanently stain the skin. Always flush the vasculature clean with water after using simulated bld. The utside f the arm can be cleaned by wiping with a mild slutin f sap and water. After cleaning, dust with talcum pwder t maintain the supple quality f the skin. Stre the unit in a cl, dry place. Skin replacement: 1. Starting frm the tp f the arm, remve the skin by rlling it dwn and ver the wrist. 2. Using talcum pwder t reduce frictin, slide the new skin nt the arm. Replacement f artery and vein tubing is available as a service frm Gaumard. Cntact us fr details. Accessries available frm Gaumard: Simulated bld pwder Replacement skin Replacement incisin/suturing site insert Replacement enlarged vein

S402 Veins Installatin and Repair Guide 1. Place arm n flat surface and remve the straps 2. Remve the skin cver
3. Remve fam frm slts.
4. Cautin. Be very careful s that nce yu cut the vein it des nt g back int the arm. Pull n the radial vein and hld it with lcking pliers (lcking pliers s that the vein des nt g back int the arm)
5. Use scissrs t cut the vein apprximately 1-2 cm away frm the pliers t allw sufficient space t cnnect the luer fitting. 6. Cnnect the luer fitting making sure the vein des nt slip int the arm, and then apply sme glue arund the vein tip t make sure the luer fitting will nt discnnect.
7. Cnnect the replacement radial vein t the luer fitting that has been adapted t the vein. Remember that the luer fittings shuld be cnnected and then rtated t make sure they will nt separate. 10. Using the large replacement vein (frearm vein) insert the sectin with the thin vein t the big hle clsest t the hand and pull it ut n the radial hle t cnnect it with the radial vein replacement sectin.
10. After cnnecting the radial vein this is hw it shuld appear. 11. The large vein n the frearm shuld already be cnnected t the radial vein. Nw insert the thin vein thrugh the ther prt and using a wire r a cable grab the luer fitting t pull it ut n the brachial hle.
12. Once the vein has been pulled ut n the brachial hle cnnect this sectin t the brachial vein replacement sectin. Then n the ther hle pull ut the vein, hld it with the pliers and cut it. Then cnnect a luer fitting and glue it s it will nt detach. Once this luer fitting is in place yu can cnnect the ther end f the brachial vein replacement sectin.
13. Place the skin cver back ver the arm.
14. Insert all the fam sectins and smth the skin int final psitin QUESTIONS?? GAUMARD SCIENTIFIC www.gaumard.cm sales@gaumard.cm
