A message from the Board- We hope everyone s season is off to a fantastic start. RAHA teams have opened up the trophy case and we are looking forward to a successful Thanksgiving tournament weekend. The State of Hockey is mourning the loss of a young player. Patrick Schoonover passed away while playing the game he loved due to an undiagnosed heart condition. Our hearts go out to the Schoonover family. Rosemount Area Hockey Association would like to extend its condolences to the Schoonover and Eastview Hockey families. In honor of Patrick RAHA players have been issued Play For Patrick stickers that they will proudly wear on their helmets. Patrick s passing is a tragic reminder that life is far too fragile and we need to be thoughtful and thankful for family and friends who fill our lives. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we want to say thank you to everyone who has contributed in making our 2014-2015 season a successful one. Thank you to our past boards for putting us in the position to continue to expand and offer our RAHA players some great opportunities. Thank you to our corporate sponsors, your donations to our program are not only greatly appreciated, but crucial in our efforts to provide exciting opportunities for our players. To all our great volunteers, Boosters, Concessions, Tournament, Fundraising, and Operations, we could not do this without your assistance, thank you for the help. We are very thankful for all the team managers that keep our teams organized and informed this is no easy task, but your role is one of the most crucial for a successful season. To our RAHA coaches, we can t tell you enough how much you mean to the development of our players, but also the advancement of our program. Finally, many thanks to the parents for allowing your daughters and sons to play this wonderful game of hockey we all wouldn t be here without your kids. We are very proud of our young athletes; they are doing some amazing things both on and off the ice. The true success of our program will not be known for 10 to 15 years, but we can only hope to give our players the opportunities to learn the values of hard work, commitment, and what it takes to be a great teammate. Have a safe and happy holiday weekend and please take every opportunity to let your loved ones know what they mean to you. We look forward to seeing you at the rink. Make Important a Big Fundraising Save With Dates Our Sponsors Approaching Gerten s Product Pick-up Gerten s product pick-up is Monday November 24th at 6-8 pm at RCC in the banquet room lobby. We had an amazing response this year with a record number of families participating this year and over 14,000 in sales. This means greater than $4,700 back to RAHA families for their ice bills. Pick up is until 8. If you are unable to collect your wreaths and plants on Monday night, please ask a friend, neighbor or teammate to help out. We do not have any place at RCC to store any unclaimed product. Many, many thanks to Sandy Lucier for her hard work organizing the Gerten s fundraiser and giving us all the opportunity to cut our ice bills while decorating our home. Raffle Tickets Just a reminder that raffle tickets need to be turned in by 10:00pm on Monday, December 1st at RCC. Tickets should be stuffed in the box hanging beneath the mailboxes by the Zamboni doors. Thanksgiving is a perfect time to sell tickets to the family. If you choose to purchase your tickets outright and go for the big money, printing sticker labels with your contact information is a great time saver. A countdown has been added to the RAHA homepage. Dibs Opportunities The season is finally underway and the RAHA sponsored tournaments are fast approaching. The tournaments are great fund raising opportunities for RAHA and your help is essential help them run smoothly. Your participation is greatly appreciated. The Dibs for the tournaments are almost completely claimed but there are still a few opportunities to fill your Dibs. Thank you to all who signed up. Shifts for the Carbone Classic will be posted in the near future. Understandably, some of the duties may see intimidating so if you are new to the volunteer shift you are filling we have included some definitions of tournament specific duties to hopefully help demystify these jobs. Tournament directors will be available to help answer any questions. Volunteer Duties for RAHA Tournaments Locker Room Attendant: 1) Arrive at your scheduled time, check in with the Tournament Director. 2) Get the keys to the locker rooms, tournament director will have them. 3) Post which team is in which locker room. Tournament Director will have locker room assignments for each game. Each game will either be odd locker room numbers or even, example: Game #1- Home team in locker room #1, Visitor in #3, Game #2- Home team in locker room #2, Visitor in #4 4) When all members of a team have left the locker room, lock the door so their equipment is safe. 5) Stay on the ice level of RCC by the locker rooms, so if any team member needs to get into their locker room, you can let them in. 6) Unlock the locker rooms during period breaks, or at the end of the game. 7) Once the team has cleared out, Post the new team assignments on the locker room doors. 8) When your shift is done, turn in keys to Tournament director. Page 3

Traveling Team News Peewee AA -Many of the top Peewee AA teams in the state were on hand for the 16 team Big Pumpkin Invitational in Fargo over Halloween weekend and the boys came back with a 3rd Place trophy. Wins over Eden Prairie 6-1 and Wayzata 7-4 earned a semi-final match-up with Edina. The Hornets would end up on the winning side of a 3-1 defensive battle which setup the Irish and Blaine to battle for some hardware. Another great game ensued with Rosemount winning 4-2. Congratulations to our Peewee B1's for capturing another Mankato Meltdown Championship. The Irish outscored their opponents 23-0 in the quarters and semi's downing Albert Lea 10-0 and Mankato 13-0. That setup a title showdown against St Cloud where a more competitive game would end up in 3-1 in Rosemount s favor. Meltdown championships are becoming the norm as this is the 3rd year in a row that a team from Rosemount has brought back a title. Our 12U A girls brought back consolation hardware from the Hopkins Thanksgiving Tournament. The opening game was against the St. Paul capitals which ended in 3-3 tie after regulation. After two scoreless OT Periods it would go to an exciting shootout with the girls falling short. In game two the girls defeated Hopkins Park 3-1 to move onto the consolation championship where the defeated Orono 4-3 in OT. Page 6
