Thanks to Dave Kincaid and Gail MacKay, the sprucing up of the IPB Hall has begun in earnest! Gail organized a number of volunteers who came out on a snowy Saturday in February and completed some major cleanup especially in the kitchen and bar areas. Dave K. turned his artistic talents to giving a new coat of paint to the women's washroom. Thanks to one and all who participated in the clean up! The next major tasks facing our volunteers are - painting the hall; and, spring outdoor cleanup. Stay tuned for times and dates. Everyone is needed! 1

Highlights of Our Annual Robbie Burns Night Saturday January 25 th was the date of our annual Robbie Burns Dinner. Despite the fact that the weather did not want to co-operate (snowy, windy, cold, etc.) we had a good turnout of loyal fans from near and far. A marvelous dinner was once again served up by our band cooks and waiters, and family volunteers. Hopefully, the accompanying photos will capture a little of the IPB hospitality and teamwork involved. Kitchen Staff - Working Hard? Nancy & Dave really working hard!? Doug & Joanne eagerly waiting to serve! Gail checking out the pies. John & Winston Ready, Set, Go! 2

A Message from Our Drum Major LOOK CONCERT Once again one of IPB s favourite musical groups came to town to entertain local residents, friends and family. Thanks to Dave Presswell s leadership and all the volunteers who pitched in with the organization of the event, this February 8th fundraiser for the band was a great success. It was a sold-out event and a fine evening of Celtic-Rock music, entertainment and fellowship. PB Jackets If you haven t yet placed your order for a jacket with the band crest, contact John Lynes or Gail MacKay ASAP. Jackets are available in black or navy blue and can be purchased unlined (nylon shell- $65) or lined (insulated - $75). For an additional $5 you can have a piping or drumming image embroidered on the arm Don t delay ORDER NOW! Here we go again, another year of fun and travel. We are looking forward to two new parades: one in Toronto on July 5 th ; one in Chesley. We are happy to see the return of CJ Ross. We all need to check our calendars ahead of time to try to arrange time for as many parades as possible. We are going to Indy again this year to see the 500 Pipers be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the track. I understand that some pictures will include our band from past years. Gail Greetings from Our Pipe Major Where has the time gone? In seven short weeks it will be the start of another parade season with two new ones namely the Lions Convention in Toronto and the parade in Chesley. I would like to welcome all the new members to the band. Whether you are just beginning or a seasoned player, work hard but remember to have fun. Lastly, the Pipes and Drums of Canada are going to Scotland in August 2015! Practices are held in Orillia monthly. If you are interested see me for details. - Jack 4

Don Gale s Mission PARADE SCHEDULE 2014 If you haven t heard the latest news around the Hall, or you haven t bumped into Don Gale lately - you are in for a surprise! Donny has shaved his head!! This amazing piper decided he wanted to raise some very well needed funds for Cancer research. The Gales, like many families, have been affected by this invasive disease. Don has seen his father, mother-in-law, sister, brother-in-law and many close friends deal with cancer. As he says, Everybody knows somebody who has been affected. With the encouragement of his stepdaughter, Don decided to launch a one man fundraising effort. He declared that he would shave his head if he could convince enough folks to sponsor his efforts for the Canadian Cancer Society. So on Saturday March 22 nd, Don s head took on the look of a shiny cue ball! Check out the before and after photos May 19 th 10 am Woodstock Victoria Day Celebrations 19 th 1 pm Thamesford Calithumpian Days (Did you know? Callithumpian refers to a band of discordant instruments or a noisy parade?) 23 rd 26 th Indianapolis Indy 500 festivities (Pictured below: Gordon Pipers and the Ingersoll Ontario Pipe Band - Indianapolis Motor Speedway, 1965.) But his sacrifice of his locks was well worth it! So far he has collected over $2000 in pledges. If you haven t had the opportunity to donateto Don s campaign, please consider doing so. He will be accepting donations until the end of April. Congratulations, Don, on such a fantastic effort to assist with Cancer research and funding for a variety of Cancer programs. This year s race will be the 96 th Indianapolis 500 and the Indianapolis Gordon 500 pipers are looking forward to our return. 5
