REGISTRATION PROCEDURES FOR 2013-2014 Yukon Championships Registration Fees: All teams entering the Yukon Curling Championships must: 1. Complete the attached Team Registration Form in full. 2. Team members must also sign and date the attached Player Affidavit Form. Registration fees must be received by the Yukon Curling Association office on or before the registration deadlines listed on the YCA Season of Championships Event Schedule Poster. Registration fees for 2013-2014 are: Ø $400 per team for all adult teams per category, Ø $200.00 registration fee for Junior or Master teams All cheques are to be made payable to the Yukon Curling Association. Incomplete forms and late entries are not acceptable. Competitor Fees: All individuals wishing to enter the Yukon Curling Championships must also pay a one time per year $35.00 competitor fee (Juniors and Masters excluded). Competitor fees must be received by the YCA on or before registration deadlines listed on the YCA Season of Championships Event Schedule Poster. Note: All competitors should be aware of the following with respect to the Yukon/Northwest Territories Curling Championships and how it may affect them: Athletes competing at the Yukon/Northwest Territories Curling Championship level will be responsible for booking flights and paying for their airfare prior to departure. In the event that a hosting association has only one team and the visiting association has two teams in an individual championship, the visiting association has the choice of hosting the event subject to the following: a) the new host association pays the travel cost of the visiting team, such cost to be limited to 4 team members and the lowest available airfare between the lesser of: i) the original host site and the new host site, ii) the original association's territorial capital city and the new host site; and Page 1 of 5
iii) the competing team s home community and the new host site. b) the visiting association must declare their wish to host the championship within 24 hours of the original host notifying them that they have only one team. If both associations only have one team, the host site remains as scheduled. Registration Deadlines: In all cases, the registration deadline will be 5:00 pm on the respective date indicated on the YCA Season of Championships Event Schedule Poster. Eligibility: All competitors and teams must comply with the Eligibility and Team make-up section of the Yukon Curling Association's Championships Policy. Age Requirements: Juniors A maximum of 20 years of age as of December 31, 2013. Mixed, Men s and Women s A minimum of 19 years of age as of December 31, 2013. Seniors A minimum of 50 years of age as of December 31, 2013. Masters A minimum of 60 years of age as of December 31, 2013. Length of Competitions: The start date of competitions will depend on the number of teams entered and the number of sheets of ice available at the host club. All teams should be prepared to begin play during the middle and/or the end of the week. All competitions play to completion at the host club and end on Sunday, unless extenuating circumstances apply. Page 2 of 5
Travel Claims: Junior teams: Junior teams travelling to Yukon Junior Championships in a community other than their home community are eligible for a transportation rebate of $0.16 per kilometer. To qualify for a rebate, junior teams must complete the attached Travel Claim and return it to the Yukon Curling Association. Women's Scotties Tournament of Hearts Championship Playdowns: Women's teams travelling to a community other than their home community for Yukon STOH Championship are eligible for a transportation rebate of $0.16 per kilometer and accommodation expenses (maximum, two rooms per team). To qualify for a rebate, women's teams must complete the attached Travel Claim, attach accommodation receipts and return it to the Yukon Curling Association. In all cases, requests for travel reimbursement are due within one calendar month of completion of relevant competition. PLAYER AFFIDAVIT AND PARTICIPANT WAIVER I, the undersigned, as a participant in sanctioned Yukon Curling Association and Canadian Curling Association events, understand that there are expectations of me as to my conduct and behaviour at these competitions. I agree to abide by the rules and requirements as outlined in the Yukon Curling Association s Policy and Procedures Manual and the Yukon Curling Championships Team Registration Package. Should I fail to follow these rules, I realize I may be removed from these competitions and sent home at my own expense and could be subject to further disciplinary action after the competition. Other forms of disciplinary action could also be taken during the competition depending on the seriousness of the infraction. AND I hereby signify my commitment, if successful, to compete at the Yukon/Northwest Territories Curling Championships, Canadian Curling Championships, 2012 AWG and where applicable, the World Championships.
