Ted Hurley Memorial Classic Results Our Locals: It was a massive weekend for locals with many of them placing in the top 30. Stand out Hellrazor with Mark Cranny driving and Local Damien Matthews observing were 1 st outright in a time of 34:37, Skiers Jason Walmsley and Peter Proctor both placed in the top three outright skiers for the one up qualifying on the Saturday. The Stevens boys with Pigs Arsenal had an outstanding weekend with Chris Stevens driving, Mark Boyer observing and Jack and Sean Stevens skiing. With their time of 36:50 it placed them 5 th outright and 2 nd in Under 19 Boys, Chris also had a crack at veterans on the Saturday afternoon with Maddi Boyer observing and Mark Boyer and James Kennedy placing first with a time of 10:22 on the short course from Coomealla. Recoverys Reflection and the Johnson family had a great weekend racing with Mark Johnson driving, Kane Howard observing and Chris Mansfield and Jason Jones skiing they came 14 th outright in the unlimited inboard class. Mark also drove his daughter Cody and Chelsea Blight to a first place in Women s Social with Mark s son Brad doing the observing. A great tribute to Ted Hurley who was Marks father-in-law and Cody and Brad s Grandfather. Local Chris Baldwin had a cracking race with his boat Crankin. Jeff Howard was in the observer s seat and Tayla Wright and Ellie Ralph skiing. They ended up 17 th Outright and 2 nd in open Women s with a competitive time of 42: 52. Chris also towed first time local racer Declan Hartley in 60mph social with a solid run to the finish line. Mildura Ski Club president Geoff Thomson had a great run with his son Ryan skiing, his partner Harvey Jenkins and Craig Harper in the observers seat. With a time of 44:34 they came 2 nd in junior boys and on the Saturday afternoon they came 1st in Junior social. The No Dramas team with Damien Mcglynn driving, Gavin Brenneke observing and Adrian Mcglynn and Steven Cotton skiing had a drama free run with a 1 st un Unlimited Outboard and 19 th outright in 43mins and 29secs. The Hammond Family had a massive weekend racing. Steve Hammond drove his boat Korrupt to 1 st place in junior girls in a 46:51 with Michael Masters observing, Brook Hammond and Grace Savona skiing. Steve s other boat Korrupt F2 was driven by Rod Senior and sitting in the observers seat was Janine Hammond with Megan Hammond and Alive Savona skiing, a great outcome by those girls with a 2 nd in Sub Junior Girls! Meanwhile on the Saturday afternoon Steve towed his youngest Archer in Tadpoles (under 10s) with Jack Stevens observing to a win! Jackson Hammond also skied behind Synthetic but came across some boat problems on the Sunday. Peter Freckleton and His boat Tachycardia finished 3 rd in Open women with Chris Philips observing, Cody Johnson and Brooke Reinke Skiing. Another local team Loonatic with first time local skier Lachlan Mcglynn competed in 60mph with Tim Feben driving, Madison Baldwin observing and Jim Reid Skiing. The team of Still Cut had a solid weekend with John Baumgurtle driving, Tristan Hartley observing and Oscar Baumgurtle and Tate Laub skiing in Sub Junior Boys were they picked up a third place for the expert class and a second in the social class. Lachlan Op De Coul had a fantastic run on Saturday afternoon behind Teacher s Pet and came 2 nd in Junior Boys Social, but on Sunday the team were unable to finish. Chris Wakefield and Ashlee Wakefield competed in junior girls with Chris observing and Ashlee skiing, it was a success and their team finished 2 nd behind other locals Korrupt in 1 st place. Todd Clarke had a solid run for the weekend with a second skiing in 70mph social and a 6 th on the expert class. The Kelly family John, Todd and Rick had a good run on Saturday but unfortunately failed to finish Sunday. Special mention to Ian Kilpatrick an ex local who finished 1 st in unlimited inboard and 6 th overall. Fastest Local Open and Junior Skiers Sponsored By Zilzie Wines: Ryan Thomson had a very exciting weekend, taking out fastest junior local with a time of 21:45 he also took out 1 st place with his partner in junior social and 2 nd in junior Boys. Jack Stevens took out fastest local open skier with a time of 18:02 a time competitive with most super class times, a very good effort for an eighteen year old. Jack and his brother Sean came 5 th outright for the weekend and 2 nd in Under 19 Boys. Page 3
Congratulations Both Ryan and Jack! Aussie Titles Jindabyne 2015 An interesting Australian speed and marathon titles (7TH -10TH January) at Jindabyne, NSW with the weather turning from bright and sunny, to wet and windy. Locals had a solid 4 days with fantastic results had by all. The Hammond Family had an excellent day, coming First in under 10s (tadpoles) with the youngest Hammond, Archer skiing and Steve Hammond driving and Jack Stevens observing. Meg Hammond also had a good run with a 2 nd in under 13 girls and Brooke Hammond came 2 nd in junior marathon, Congratulations to the Hammond family for a fabulous Australians titles! Chris Baldwin and Jeff Howard in Crankin had an excellent titles, A first in Veteran Men s towing Mark Boyer from Kyneton, 2 nd in under 30 women s towing local Chelsea Blight, Jack Stevens had an outstanding run against some tough completion in under 19 boys in which he came 3 rd and Under 16s skier Sam Perry had some competitive fellow racers coming forth by 4 seconds. Chelsea Blight is currently on her worlds campaign in women s F2. The Australian titles marked the 5 th selection race with 2 more to go before the worlds in New Zealand. She came 2 nd in this race with some very determined opponents. We wish Chelsea all the best on her road to the world titles in New Zealand on the 9 th 19 th of April. Page 4

HEADING: Come and Try Day Ski Racing We had a great day on the river on the 4 th of January. Thank you to all our helpers duty boats either end and our Boat drivers for bringing down the boats to give some beginners a try at ski racing. We had a wide range of people both young and old some trying skiing and a couple of new observers. Thanks also to the helpers on the bank, starting races, coordinating the day and cooking the BBQ. Looking forward to next year. Remember everyone the ski club has a variety of gear you can borrow as members for beginner skiers, beginner wake boarders and ski racing as well as trick skis. The Pippin Family Cowra station SA Vs Vic Tournament The weather wasn t the best for the SA vs. Vic Titles. But all events managed to be run. It was a great win for the Victorians with a huge contingency of members competing from the Mildura ski club. Take a little time to check out the results. A lot of effort goes into running these weekends so thank you all the Volunteers. It is also great to see great support from a host of new sponsors. The sponsors and helper will help with these tournaments going ahead in leaps and bound helping with competitor development, equipment and running of tournaments.
