Like us on Facebook and have meeting and event reminders automatically A Special Message from LV CLC President As many of you know, I have grown up with the Cadillac & LaSalle Club. My dad was one of the founders of the West of the Lake Region in 1985. When I left the Chicago area to move to Las Vegas, I knew that eventually I wanted to be a part of the club on my own. I have been a member of the Las Vegas Region for almost 10 years and have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of such a wonderful group of people. I am at a point in my life where many things are changing. First of all, I have finally met the love of my life! His name is Jon and he is a Cadillac lover and a member of the club in the Badger Region (Wisconsin). We recently got engaged and have needed to have some pretty deep discussions about our future, since we live 1850 miles apart and the long-distance relationship has become quite difficult. For several reasons, we have decided that the best decision is for me to move to Wisconsin. Our dream is to open a classic car dealership there, buying, selling, and consigning cars for collectors, providing appraisals, inspections, etc. We have already begun looking for buildings in central and western Wisconsin. It will be very difficult to leave so many wonderful friends and fellow Cadillac enthusiasts who have become very much like family, but I am very excited about starting a new chapter in my life. The Presidency of the LV Region will be passed to the very capable DR Rawson. After getting to know him and his wife Margaret, I know without a doubt that he will be an amazing leader for this great club. I will still remain on the CLC National Board of Directors and will get involved with the Badger Region, as well. We hope to return to Las Vegas for Cadillac Through The Years each year. I will be moving sometime in October so I would like to ask you to please join us at the Blue Ox for the September meeting on Wednesday the 28 th so I can say goodbye to as many of you as possible. Thank you all for many, many wonderful memories over the past 10 years and I will cherish our friendships always! Lauren Meeting is the 4th Wednesday 6 p.m. at the Blue Ox on West Sahara 1
Club Meeting Update We had a great club meeting on the 23rd. I counted 25 fellow members and 2 new members, Fred and Loretta Leffer. The big news for the evening is that Lauren Schweitzer, our President is getting married and she will be moving away in October to the great white north. We will really miss her! She promises to come back for Cadillac Through The Years. The Board will be appointing new leadership at the next Board meeting. Come to the next meeting to wish Lauren well with her new life. Larry went into great detail about up coming events (see next page). Mark won the 50/50 raffle for the evening. To finish off the meeting we celebrated Cadillac's 113th birthday with Nothing Bunt Cakes _ YUM!. After the meeting we kicked some tire sand talked Cadillacs out front. It was really nice to visit with everyone. Reporter Jerry. Robinson Board Notes Board Meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month. A special thanks to the National CLC and Findlay Cadillac for their support and partnership. Reno s Hot August Nights By Jerry Robinson My wife Linda and I went up to Reno to see Hot August Nights. What a great show! The numbers on the windshields indicted there was about 6,000 cars. The cars were in several locations all over town. Three different hotels have separate venues plus cars displayed on Virginia Street. Downtown Virginia Street crosses the Truckee River were there is a new bridge it is has a walk way alone the Truckee River. The Reno downtown area is a fun place to be. Cars were lined up along Virginia Street from first street to sixth including the side streets. Take your walking shoes. Next year I'm hopping to take a Cadillac and stay for several days. I checked with the registration both they said enter in September for next Augusts show. Register in September will save you money on the entry fee. Maybe I'll see you in Reno August of 2017. 2

Arriving about 8:00 the parking lot was already full. Lyle Knox was also there, but he didn't bring a Cadillac so my 1989 Allante was the only club member Cadillac there. Always seems to be some thing new at cars and coffee. Today there was a Willy pick up completely stock with a four cylinder flat head. Always a lot of cool cars. Did You Remember To: Mark your calendar for the meeting To Wish Lauren The Best! Check out the new website? Plan to buy a new shirt at the meeting? Plan to attend your favorite Cadillac event? A Little Car Humor The Flat Top No Blind Spots / Body By Fisher The four-window, four-door hardtop Flattop sedan was introduced for the 1959 model year and proved to be an instant success. The four-window Vista Roof out sold all sedan models. It was the panoramic wraparound rear back glass with a flat roof extending slightly past the glass that created an entirely new version of an extremely popular body style. The car that started the pillar-less hardtop styling is the 1949 Series Sixty-Two Coupe deville. This unique hardtop design started a cult following in the entire automotive industry. Cadillac introduced the first four-door hardtop sedan for the 1956 model year named Sedan deville. The 1960 model year was a dramatic step forward in contemporary motorcar design. For the 1960 model year, Cadillac trimmed the excess and lowered its profile for a classic new look. Its restrained adornment made it even more elegant. The red lens in the tapered new tail fins worked with the stop and turn signal lamps. Subtle refinement made the 1960 look radically different from the 1959 model. The emphasis was no longer on flamboyance but elegance.
