APRIL Program Guide 2017 316-838-3090 www.kpts.org tv8@kpts.org

Saturdays @ 11PM, Starting April 1 4 New Episodes April 1, 11PM - Moreland & Arbuckle Guitarist Aaron Moreland and vocalist/harpist Dustin Arbuckle capture the visceral spirit of the early 20th century Delta blues. 11:30PM - Rudy Love Jr. As a Writer, Producer, Artist, and Pianist, Rudy is involved with many projects and continues to be true to his art and share his vision with the world. April 8 11PM - The Wrong Kata Trio When has Wrong ever been so Right? This amazing trio just lets their instruments do the talking, and wail they do. 11:30PM - The Danielle Nicole Band Danielle Nicole is an American blues /soul musician from City, Missouri. Call the Midwife nurses. Sundays @ 7PM, Starting April 2 Season 6 begins in 1962 and it is evident how times are changing, from increased liberation for women to the shadow of infamous gangsters to the introduction of new government policies. In Poplar, when the rather austere Sister Ursula is appointed the new head of Nonnatus House, Sister Julienne finds herself demoted and working alongside the midwives as an ordinary member of the staff. She is not the only one to face challenges closer to home. As they strive to help mothers and families cope with the demands of childbearing, disability, disease and social prejudice, the beloved medics must make choices and fight battles of their own. HOME FIRES Final Season Sundays @ 8PM, Starting April 2 It s June 1940, and Britain faces the threat of imminent invasion. Pat strikes up a friendship with a Czech soldier stationed nearby. Sarah receives some shocking news about Adam, but her sorrow is overshadowed by a tragedy for Frances. Home Fires Cast Sundays @ 9PM, Starting April 2 Internationally acclaimed actor Mark Rylance and Emmywinner Damian Lewis ( Homeland ) star as Thomas Cromwell and King Henry VIII in this adaptation of Hilary Mantel s Booker Prize-winning novels, which chart the meteoric rise of Cromwell in the Tudor court from blacksmith s son to Henry VIII s closest advisor. NEWTOWN Monday, April 3 @ 8PM Explore the aftermath and resilience of a community devastated by the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, which took the lives of 20 children and six educators in Newtown, Connecticut. SEED: THE UNTOLD STORY Monday, April 17 @ 9PM Follow passionate seed-keepers protecting our 12,000 year-old food legacy. THE LAST LAUGH Monday, April 24 @ 9PM The Last Laugh proceeds from the premise that the Holocaust would seem to be an absolutely off-limits topic for comedy. But is it? The community mourns after the Newtown tragedy.

YOUNG MEN Friday, April 7 @ 8PM Airing in commemoration of the centennial of World War I, the feature-length film was shot on location in Northern France. Based on a highly successful stage production that premiered at London s Sadler s Wells Theatre in January 2015 (and returned in October by popular demand), it is choreographed by Iván Pérez with a commissioned score by critically acclaimed recording artist, singer-songwriter Keaton Henson. The production was conceived by Artistic Directors Michael Nunn and William Trevitt who were formerly leading dancers with The Royal Ballet. Monday, April 10 - Wednesday, April 12 @ 8PM In conjunction with the 100th anniversary of entry into the war on April 6, 1917, American Experience brings you The Great War. Featuring the voices of Campbell Scott, Blythe Danner, Courtney Vance and others. American troops cheering with U.S. flag in Russia at the end of the war (circa 1919). Supported by Harlem Hellfighters on the boat right after it docks at New York City. Drawing on the latest scholarship, including unpublished diaries, memoirs and letters, The Great War tells the rich and complex story of World War I through the voices of nurses, journalists, aviators and the American troops who came to be known as doughboys. The series explores the experiences of African- American and Latino soldiers, suffragists, Native-American code talkers and others whose participation in the war to make the world safe for democracy has been largely forgotten. It is also a story of little known heroism and sacrifice (including the deadliest battle in American history) that would leave more than 53,000 men dead on the battlefield and more than 60,000 dead from disease. American fatalities would come at a critical time in the war, but they would be dwarfed by a cataclysm of violence that would ultimately claim 15 million lives. Friday, April 21 @ 8PM, NATURE Follow five artists who explore the beauty and wonder of the natural world: sculptor Patrick Dougherty, woodcarver Michelle Holzapfel, fiber artist Mary Merkel-Hess, glass artist Preston Singletary and book artist Catherine Alice Michaelis. PARTS 1-6 Saturday, April 29 Starting @ 6PM Look for this symbol indicating programs for which you can pledge. The Doctor returns to Gallifrey to become the President of the high council of time lords. But Leela finds the Doctor is acting out of character and she is proved correct, when it is revealed that the Doctor has betrayed his own people and is working for Invisible aliens known as the Vardans who have taken control of the citadel and The Doctor has banished members of the high council and Leela to the wasteland outside the Citadel. But the Doctor has his own agenda, he is planning to thwart the Vardans scheme and time-loop their planet.
