ABOUT THE SCSA ANNUAL SAFETY AWARDS The Saskatchewan Cnstructin Safety Assciatin (SCSA) acknwledges individuals, cmpanies, and cmmittees thrughut the prvince f Saskatchewan, fr effrts given t prmte the SCSA, and fr the invaluable input tward health and safety in the cnstructin industry. The SCSA presents tw annual awards fr each Reginal Safety Cmmittee in the prvince: The Crprate Leadership in Safety Award is given t ne cmpany recgnizing its dedicatin, utstanding cntributin, cmmitment and leadership t the enhancement f health and safety in the wrkplace. The Safety Practitiner Award is given t ne individual recgnizing their dedicatin, utstanding cntributin, and cmmitment t the success f the Reginal Safety Cmmittee in their regin. The SCSA als presents ne annual award t a Reginal Safety Cmmittee in the prvince: The Reginal Safety Cmmittee Distinguished Prgress Award is given t ne Reginal Safety Cmmittee recgnizing their dedicatin and utstanding cntributin t the prmtin and imprvement f health and safety in the cnstructin industry. The SCSA will present these three awards (Crprate Leadership in Safety, Safety Practitiner, and Reginal Safety Cmmittee Distinguished Prgress) at the SCSA Annual General Meeting. Fr the Crprate Leadership in Safety Award and the Safety Practitiner Award, an award cmmittee cnsisting f the SCSA President, tw members frm the SCSA Executive Cmmittee, tw members frm the SCSA Bard f Directrs, and the SCSA Executive Assistant will evaluate the applicatins. The cmmittee will use a standardized evaluatin prcess and criteria t determine the winner. Fr the Reginal Safety Cmmittee Distinguished Prgress Award, an award cmmittee cnsisting f the Chairpersn f the Bard f Directrs, the SCSA President, Directr f Operatins, and Executive Assistant, will determine the recipient. All award recipients are acknwledged at the SCSA Annual General Meeting in and in varius SCSA nline and ffline publicatins. One award is given fr each f the Reginal Safety Cmmittees, including: ELIGIBILITY: Prince Albert Saskatn Llydminster Regina Mse Jaw Estevan Yrktn Swift Current SCSA Member Cmpany (cmpany must be a resident f the regin r have a lcal ffice r prject in the calendar year). CRITERIA: Invlved with lcal Reginal Safety Cmmittee. Prvides assistance in identifying health and safety cncerns t their lcal Reginal Safety Cmmittee and the SCSA. Invlved in health and safety initiatives within their lcal Reginal Safety Cmmittee and/r cmmunity. Enfrces safety standards within the cmpany by creating and maintaining a safety prgram. Invlved with SCSA thrugh participatin in the COR prgram (registered r taking curses twards will be cnsidered). Prvide health and safety training t emplyees. Cnsideratin will be given t all SCSA prgrams as well as ther in huse r ut surced prgrams. Prmtes health and safety at the wrksite thrugh use f SCSA materials r ther relevant prmtinal initiatives. Uses SCSA materials and resurces t enhance cmpany safety meetings i.e. tlbx talks. PROCESS: The cmpany can be nminated by cmmittee members, clients, labur rganizatins r industry assciatins. A cmpany may als nminate itself. The nminatr identifies which cmmittee the nminatin is fr. A questinnaire revlving arund the criteria is cmpleted by the nminating bdy. The questinnaire is signed jintly by the cmpany and nminatr. An e-mail frm the cmpany being nminated cnfirming that they are aware f being nminated wuld be sufficient as well, if unable t acquire a signature. REGIONAL SAFETY COMMITTEE DISTINGUISHED PROGRESS AWARD This award will be given t the Reginal Safety Cmmittee that has demnstrated utstanding prgress and has strived t fulfill the purpse and functins f a safety cmmittee. ELIGIBILITY: Reginal Safety Cmmittees CRITERIA: Quarterly cmmittee meetings (minimum) Cmmittee member attendance (regularity and percentage f members) Prmting SCSA training prgrams and educatinal activities Prgram marketing such as: Certificate f Recgnitin (COR ) Cnstructin Safety Officer (NCSO ) Safety Cnstructin Orientatin Training (SCOT ) Small Emplyer Certificate f Recgnitin (SECOR) Sub-cmmittee meetings Identifying and reslving, health and safety needs and cncerns fr the regin. Liaisn with varius interested grups, such as Sask. Labur, WCB, etc. Schedules varius guest speakers and resurces related t thse in this industry. Cmmittee identifies and reslves health and safety cncerns fr the regin. Cmmittee is actively engaged in their regin r cmmunity thrugh ther safety related events and/r initiatives (i.e. NAOSH). PROCESS: The Reginal Safety Cmmittee is nminated by itself thrugh a letter frm the cmmittee t the SCSA. Nminatin frm is t be filled ut and submitted with the Reginal Safety Cmmittee s letter. The letter is t utline the criteria the cmmittee has met and dcumentatin t supprt this must be attached.
