Junior Raiders Cheer Registration Information Thank you for your interest in Junior Raiders Cheerleading! This parent run program aims to instill confidence and teamwork while developing skills for those who may wish to continue to the Riverwood International High School Cheerleading Program. We welcome all skill levels and encourage participation. Participants learn the basics of cheerleading including stunting, cheers, team building, and half-time routines. Cheerleaders learn the same cheers used by the Riverwood cheerleaders. Participants receive professional stunt coaching as well as instruction from current varsity cheerleaders. We perform at Jr. Raiders football games only, no outside competitions. We strive to create a fun and safe environment for all cheerleaders. New this year: We are accepting Paypal and Venmo. We will have no additional fundraisers. There will be no stunt camp. Practices will be 90-minutes (down from 2 hours). We will require advance reporting of known absences. Deadline to register is May 15, 2018. There can be no exceptions. This packet includes several forms that must be completed and mailed with payment to Stacie Connerty at 5240 W. Kingston Court, Atlanta, Georgia 30342. Prior to the first practice, you must have your physician complete the attached physical form. This is the same physical form used by the Ridgeview Charter School Athletics Program. Additional payment options for Paypal (payment via Friends & Family only to stacieconnerty@gmail.com) and Venmo (stacieconnerty@gmail.com). Practices We will practice at the Riverwood High School Cheerleading Gym on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:15-7:45. We will perform on Saturdays at Jr. Raiders football games, both home and away. A schedule will be circulated as soon as we have it. Our first practice will be Monday, August 6th, the first day of school. The cheer season will run through mid-october. Because the cheerleaders break into stunt teams in which every cheerleader has an important role, practices are mandatory. For safety reasons, it is not feasible to continuously reconfigure team stunts and the halftime show. For this reason, more than two missed practices may disqualify you from participation. Most importantly, we need advance notice of absences from any games. We will circulate a Google Doc where you can record known absences from practices and games. Practice uniforms will consist of loose-fitting white tank tops (with appropriate undergarment) and blue shorts that enable movement. Official practice uniforms will be offered for sale, but are not required. Volunteer Requirements Junior Raiders Cheer is a parent run organization. We attempt to keep volunteer requirements at a minimum, but we will require some assistance for practices and games. We need one parent on site every practice to serve as a point person for East Coast Cheer and the varsity cheer coaches. We also need one parent per squad to serve as sideline parent for each game. We will circulate a Google Doc for volunteer sign ups, but please plan on volunteering for 1 practice and 1 game.
Cost Breakdown $510 program cost if you have all pieces of the required uniform. This cost includes Riverwood gym rental, East Coast Cheer/Stunting Instruction, varsity cheer instruction, limited squad socials, and necessary administrative costs. $630 program cost if you need each element of the required uniform. Please note: This does not include any of the optional pieces listed below. Team Rules/Attendance Policy 1. Any cheerleader who receives ISS will sit out the term of ISS, plus 1 game. OSS will result in immediate removal from the squad. 2. Cheerleaders must respect administration, coaches, players, and opposing cheerleaders. Disrespect of any kind from a cheerleader or parent will result in disciplinary action, including removal from the squad. 3. Cheerleaders must respect and work cooperatively with one another. There is a zero-tolerance policy regarding negativity on social media. 4. Arrive at practice and games at the appointed time, dressed appropriately. 5. No jewelry and only light nail polish is permitted while in uniform. Hair must be pulled back for practice and games. Bows must be worn for games. 6. No gum chewing while in uniform or eating on the sidelines during the games. 7. More than two missed practices may disqualify you from participation. 8. Any cheerleader with an unexcused absence from a game will site out the following game. 9. Known practice and game absences must be entered on the Google Doc provided. 10. No refunds will be issued for violations of these rules or the attendance policy. 11. Parents are required to fulfill volunteer requirements as described above. Release/Photo Release I/we, as parents/guardians of (hereinafter, participant ) hereby consent to her participation in Junior Raiders Cheerleading Program including all activities incidental to this Program. I/We assume all responsibilities for risks, and hazards with participation in the Junior Raiders Cheerleading Program, including transportation to and from all activities associated with the Program. I/We hereby release GMSAA, the North Metro Football League, Junior Raiders Football, Junior Raiders Cheerleading, and their coaches, officers, sponsors, organizers, supervisors, volunteers, participants and all other agents from any and all claims, demands, rights and causes of action of whatever kind and nature arising from and by reason of, and all known, foreseen, bodily and personal injuries, damage to property, and the consequences thereof, resulting from participation in the Junior Raiders Cheerleading Program and all activities incidental to the Program. In the event of an emergency and I/we cannot be reached, I/we also give consent for Junior Raiders Cheerleading to obtain medical care as is reasonably necessary for the welfare of the participant, if injured during the activity.
