ECB T20 THE T20 BOARD: INDEPENDENT DIRECTORS
OVERVIEW The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will launch a new Twenty20 cricket competition in the summer of 2020, created to attract new audiences to cricket, grow the game s supporter base and drive participation. The ambition is to create a global entertainment brand with a broad appeal that will be transformational for our sport and provide a very healthy future for the game in England and Wales. This competition will be contested by newly formed teams playing 36 games over a five week period. Many of the leading English and overseas players will be selected through a draft system with each team having a designated home ground. The New T20 competition will look and feel different from existing county and international cricket from the creation of new brands, to broadcast production, in-stadia presentation, fan engagement and its approach to digital. All games will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, with 10 games simulcast on BBC the first time that live cricket will have been on free-to-air television in England since 2005.
