Passport / EHIC Information / Medication All pupils require their own individual passport to travel to Italy in February. We wrote to you in September asking you to bring your child s passport together with their EHIC card to the meeting tonight. We will collect both Passports and EHIC before you leave tonight. If your child needs any of these before the ski trip please let us know. If your child is under any medication then please put it in a named container with instructions and hand to the coach leader on departure day
Coach Journey Please ensure the entry and exit to the car parks are clear. Pupils are limited to one medium sized suitcase/bag + travel bag Staff ensure each pupil is wearing their seat belt Double count & seat belt checks after every stop DVD s (PG/12) played until 11pm Take packed lunch / snacks for coach Ski socks / fleece or coat / pillow optional On the Ferry Pupils introduced to group leader / escort to meeting point Pupils allowed free time on the boat / groups of 3 If prone to sea sickness please take a tablet! No purchase of Red Bull & Coke (caffeine is a diuretic) Pupils check in report to teacher when docking Meet with group leaders before walking down to coach
SAFETY OF TRAVELLING BY COACH Coach travel is statistically the safest method of travel All coaches are less than four years old All seats have safety belts Driver duty hours are rigorously controlled to avoid fatigue Two drivers rotate driving responsibilities to avoid fatigue No DVD s are shown after approximately 11pm to allow the second driver opportunity to rest Pupils behaviour monitored to ensure drivers are not distracted Pupils are not allowed to use flash photography at any time Staff will immediately move pupils who have taken their seat belt off without staff permission. Pupils will be allowed to use the on-board toilet in extreme circumstances the coach does stop every four hours to allow pupils the chance to go to the toilet
Courmayeur LINK Courmayeur has 100 kms of exciting downhill runs Baby Bowl is a great beginners area, safe and secure. Courmayeur is a red run heaven loads of wide pistes. Nestling comfortably at the foot of mighty Mont Blanc, Courmayeur is a delightful, old traditional Alpine village, at the heart of which is a maze of interesting, narrow cobbled alleys. Largely traffic- free, it is lined with charming shops.
ALPECHIARA HOTEL Reception / bar / restaurant / drying rooms / satellite TV / meeting rooms / telephones. Most rooms have 2 or 4 beds, all with en suite. Pupils will select who they wish to share a room with. Hotel shared with others rooms will be locked with key in door at night Hotel is securely locked at evenings. Pupils aware of staff rooms (24 hours) A damage form will be completed - Any costs for deliberate damages will be passed on! A locked case is ideal to leave any expensive items at the hotel please take extra insurance out for mobile phones / Ipads etc
APRES SKI ACTIVITIES Interski provide a full range of Apres Ski Activities throughout the week. A typical week would include: Ice Skating Swimming Pizza Night Disco Night Sledging Shopping Bowling Presentation Evening Ice Cream/Crepe Night
Courmayeur Free Time Two Shopping trips to Courmayeur Supervised through to the town centre Allowed to shop without direct supervision Pupils shop in groups of at least 3 Staff located around the town Meet back in centre of town to be escorted to the coach No Red Bull to be purchased due to caffeine content Mobile phones can be taken but please make sure you are aware of the costs involved when using the phone abroad. Pupils wallets / purses should be named > thus we have a chance of returning them if lost THE BIG NO! No Alcohol / No Cigarettes / No Fireworks + bangers / No Powerballs No other items that are illegal to buy in this country Alcoholic presents are NOT to be purchased by pupils
Getting up the Mountain 8.15am pupils meet in Hotel reception and have an equipment check with their group leader Depart 8.30am (2 minutes to ski lifts) Group leaders escort up the mountain Instructor collects them at 9.30am Instructor returns them at 3.30pm Group leaders escort down the mountain All staff have a record of other groups and can escort 2 groups down the mountain if required!
Ski Lessons Pupils only allowed to ski with qualified Interski instructor Ski groups never exceed 12 Ski Lessons 9.30am until 3.30pm During this time pupils are under direct instructor supervision Instructor dictates matters of safety Any poor behaviour whilst skiing will may result in you not skiing Piste patrol & instructors can remove lift passes Ski helmets are compulsory and must be worn at all times when skiing (SnowCo).
Energy and Hydration All meals are provided and pupils must attend breakfast, lunch and evening meal. Evening meals are 3 courses and include: soups / vegetables / potatoes / pasta / fruit / cake / ice cream / chicken / fish / beef etc. Lunch vouchers are provided at mountain restaurants. Pupils must eat and drink to maintain energy levels Dehydration is more likely to take place at high altitudes Regular drinks of water are essential Take mini snickers / mars / water / lucozade etc
Fitness Levels for Skiing Pupils will have 4 hours of skiing lessons per day (24 hours of skiing activity within 6 days)! Beginners are likely to fall over many, many times and will then need to push themselves back onto their feet. This will put a lot of stress on their bodies. It will greatly help if they can undertake some basic exercises prior to the ski trip. Sit ups / Sumo squats star jumps etc. anything where the muscles are being used continuously for a period over 30 seconds will all help build up muscular endurance.
Mountain accidents & injuries Teachers informed immediately by Interski Teacher goes to pupil to support and assist A qualified Interski First Aid also attends Both escort the pupil to visit the doctor or hospital if it is deemed necessary Group Leaders have direct contact with each other via walky-talky radio Parents will be informed as soon as is conveniently possible EHIC cards carried by pupils Genuine injuries would be appreciated (40-80 Euro charge) Unable to Ski Interski office / sick room with video facilities Supervised by school staff Stay at Hotel if not able to get up Mountain Teacher remains behind to supervise

POCKET MONEY EUROS ARE REQUIRED WITHIN ITALY & FRANCE Pupils usually take between 70 150 Euro s. A school Bank is in operation each day. Pupils must hand their Euros to Mr Statham in a sealed envelope with their name and quantity of Euros clearly labeled: BY WEDNESDAY 21 st February 2018 PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CHILD HAS A GOOD AMOUNT OF 5 AND 10 EURO NOTES PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THEM 50 EURO NOTES
PUPIL CODE OF CONDUCT POLICY Please note that we expect pupil behaviour whilst abroad to be exactly the same as it is within school. The behaviour of our pupils whilst abroad is something we are extremely proud of and any incidents involving unacceptable behaviour whilst in Italy will not be tolerated. Any such incidents could result in a pupil not skiing, not attending après ski activities, not having free time or ultimately being sent home! As a school we ensure pupils are fully aware of what they can and cannot do whilst on the ski course. As a parent we advise you to also go through how important it is for students to behave whilst on the ski course. Coach Transport (Please tick the box once you have gone through) Pupils must wear seat belts at all times Pupils must be quiet and allow the second driver the chance to sleep between midnight and 6.00am Pupils are not allowed chewing gum on the coach Pupils must not use a flash camera or a phone which flashes on the coach Pupils must put all rubbish in the bags provided Pupils must ask permission to use the coach toilet If pupils would like a DVD played they must ask the teacher and hand the DVD to them before the bus is moving.
