From the set-up to take down, from the donations of food to the preparation of meals, from our great sponsors to the many who have supported our club this was a great dinner. As always, the club was filled with excitement and no on left hungry and several folks took food home. By far, our biggest compliment was the quality of the meal. We received more accolades on the wonderful flavor and presentation of the wild game dishes than ever! Occasionally someone might comment they did not care for a particular dish. Not this time! The only down side diners had was they could not pin point what they liked best. Feel good today Lincoln Bowmen. When it comes to wild game dinners you are truly in a class by yourself. Great food and great fellowship! We extend our warmest thanks and appreciation to all of your for a job well done. Best Regards, Lincoln Bowmen Dinner Committee Click WGD to view pictures from the 2014 Wild Game Dinner. Thank you Kevin Campbell! Congratulations to our 2014 WGD raffle winners! Annual Deer Contest The annual deer contest awards were given out this year during the Wild Game Dinner. The awards were handed out to the following winners: North Zone Largest Buck (spike horn) - Lee Green Heaviest Doe - Dave Lance South Zone Largest buck (9pt) - Vern Priest Heaviest Doe - Mike Perez Heaviest Buck (175 lbs) - Chris Chesney Successful hunters this year were: Matt Gibbons (10 pt) Mike Burgor (8 pt) Mike Perez (10 pt & doe) Vern Priest (9 pt) Tim Grapentien (7 pt) Wendy Hinojosa (doe) - Wendy s first deer Jim McGinnis (Spike & doe) Lee Green (Spike) Chris Chesney (8 pt) Ralph Shurtz (doe) Dave Lance (doe) Philip Hinojosa (6 pt). President s Corner The wild game dinner again this year was a great success. Chair persons Larry Thorn, Sherry Lance and Scott Rhind did a wonderful job managing this event again. I would like to thank all of you that helped in one way or another. The servers, setup and tear-down crews, ticket sellers, cooks, etc. Without your help this event would not be possible. One crew that always goes unnoticed are the guys outside under the tent. For the past five years or more, Chris Chesney, Dan Linne and Phil LaFountain have braved the cold to deep fry the fish, which is one of the favorite dishes served. I would like to thank Larry Hassell for providing his audio system for our use again this year. With the record breaking snowfall this year keeping the driveway and parking lot clear has been a huge job. Many of you have mentioned to me about the appearance of the drive and lot after the snow falls and how nice it is to come to the club and see it cleared in such a great way. Well the man that is responsible for doing such a great job is Philip Hinojosa. He had his hands full this year with it being a record breaking snow fall season. Thanks Philip for the long hours and the great job that you do for making it safer for all of us The Winter League Banquet was changed to April 26, 2014 due to the Easter holiday. League mangers make sure you poll your leagues for a head count. A special note to the Lance family. I can't imagine the thrill it had to have been for you guys in Vegas. Just following the shoot though texts and web sights was exciting for me. What a thrill it must have been for you three. As parents I know you both are very proud of Sarah's record breaking win. (She was the second woman ever to shoot a perfect 900 at the Vegas shoot.) For me watching her as a little girl at the club shooting and growing into a world class archer, are memories that I will always be fond of. 2

Chili Contest This years Chili shoot was a successful event. Even though the weather was harsh, there was a good turn out of shooters. To make things even better there were six entrees for the chili contest. The following all entered their special chili recipe to compete for the honor of being named top chili cook for the shoot. Mike Burgor, Scott Jackson, Al Stacey, Chris Chesney, Mike Perez and Johnny Villasenor. After numbering each bowl and hiding the names of each cook on the underside of the bowls. The judges tasted a sample from each bowl. In most cases each judge had to try several spoons from each bowl to determine their favorite. This is the first year that the judges were all in agreement as to who's chili was their favorite. When the tasting was finished, Scott Jackson's chili was chosen as their favorite. Being one of the judges I have to say that all of the chili that was prepared this year was great. 3D Shoot Results January Chili Shoot February Cupid Shoot Mens Open Jim McGinnis 237 Men s Freestyle Mike Perez 280 Ben Phillips 269 Johnny Villasenor 267 Men s Recurve John Barkley 243 Joe Swetonic 235 Dick Focht 227 Men s Longbow Brett Barkley 172 Women s Traditional Kim Bovair 233 Cubs Sabrina Phillips 159 Men s Open Jim McGinnis 279 Men s Freestyle Bob VanDriessche 283 Jeff Straub 277 Adam Parker 267 Men s Recurve John Barkley 246-3X Joe Swetonic 246 Marv Shrum 214 Men s Longbow Brett Barkley 234 Women s Traditional Meg Robertson 132 Girl s Youth Oliva VanKammen 136 3

Messages from the Board of Directors Jim Mende I would like to introduce myself to the members. I m Jim Mende long time bowhunter, and Lincoln Bowmen for the past 3 years. I m one of the newest board members elected in September. I enjoy deer hunting with my sons and friends. I shoot on the Tuesday night traditional league with my youngest son, with an Osage selfbow that I made. My son and I are each making new selfbows this year. We shot the summer league this year using compound bows, and when I had shoulder surgery I used a crossbow for hunting. That s one of the great things about this club, no matter how you fling an arrow, this is the place for you. We have the youth archery program, with leagues in the winter & summer. We have 3D shoots, and this summer we will be hosting the 2 nd leg of the Michigan IBO shoot, not to mention the front & back woods courses, and the range. Come on down, bring a friend and have fun. Any thoughts or ideas you have to make the club better for all of us, just let a board member know, or come to a board meeting and share your thoughts with us. I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make the Wild Game Dinner such a success. To all our wonderful chefs, the food was fantastic, and I would appreciate it if you would share your recipes. You can send those recipes to arrowslinger1@hotmail.com. Only 7 months till bow season starts! Jim McGinnis My name is Jim McGinnis, Lincoln Bowmen Board Member. This spring I am going to be working on the broadhead pit. We are going to set up 20-50 yard shooting lanes at the broadhead range. It will have the old sand pits to shoot cardboard targets. I am also on the committee on the back 3-D course. I plan on moving a few of the backstops to change up the course a little. More of hunting shots with hills and tunnels. I would also like to Thank All of the Members that helped and attended the Wild Game Dinner... Until Next month Promote, Protect the Archery Lifestyle Mike Perez Hello Archers!! February saw a lot of great 3D shoots around our area. The ASA Indoor at Mid Thumb Bowmen had an excellent turn out and Lincoln Bowmen was well represented by a number of archers in different classes. Alan Bradford won the Men's Senior Open division with a blistering score of 320. I was the uncontested winner in the Men's Open B division with a 312, and Jill Perez represented our Ladies in the Women's Hunter Division. The IBO World Qualifier held at Washtenaw Sportsman Club was also well attended by our clubs archers and we had a fine showing. Scott Wakefield won the Advanced Hunter Class against some tough competition. Jill Perez finished 3rd in the Female Hunter Class, Kris Dake won the Mens Bowhunter Release Class with an outstanding score of 315, Eric Klein and I shot in the Men's Bowhunter Open class, and Alan Bradford won the Men's Senior Release division with a score of 305. We are seriously considering having a Spring/Summer Outdoor 3D league. The league will run from April through July on Monday evenings, and consist of 15 3D targets set on the back course. If you are interested in shooting this League please contact me at 734-612-6453. KEEP EM IN THE MIDDLE!!!! 4
