We have an excellent team of administrators and coaches, who have your child s best interest in mind at all times. Accountability and Responsibility is what I teach the Student-Athletes within our cheer program to become leaders on, as well as, off campus. This will be my first year coaching and teaching at Executive Prep and am excited to be a part of this family! I look forward to an incredible year! Within this information packet, you will find the necessary documents needed in order to take part in the tryout process. The Student-Athlete, as well as their parent/guardian, must review all information, complete/sign on appropriate pages and submit the completed packet to Ms. Rentar in Room 301 on or before Thursday, August 31, 2017 by 3:30 P.M.- NO EXCEPTIONS! Important Tryout Dates: Thursday, August 17 @ 6pm-7pm -Informational meeting for students & parents -Tryout packet available Thursday, August 31 @ 3pm -Tryout packet due to Ms. Rentar in Room 301 ***Interviews will be held during an agreed upon time at lunch before tryouts, between potential cheerleader and coach. Thursday, September 7 @ 3pm-5pm -Tryouts ***Tryout attire : T-shirt or tank top in black or EPAF colors; a sports bra for proper support; athletic shorts, compression shorts, or cheer shorts with spankies; cheer shoes or athletic shoes; hair pulled completely off face in a ponytail with a ribbon or bow. During the tryout process, have natural-one-color hair, be free of visible piercings, gauges and tattoos, as well as no artificial nails, nail color (including nude and French-tip) or gel-polish. General Information Mission: To be a cheer team that will promote crowd interaction and school spirit through cheering, motions, tumbling skills, stunts, dance and interactive crowd participation, as well as represent the Executive Prep staff, student body and alumni at school functions, public appearances and games. Positions: Flyer: Top person in all pyramids and partner stunts. Base: Bottom level of all pyramids and partner stunts. 2
Requirement/Commitment: Cheer at ALL home (and SELECT Varsity/JV away) basketball games; ALL CIF games. We will NOT be able to accommodate work schedules, weekly outside appointment schedules or vacations outside of school holiday breaks. By signing this agreement, you acknowledge that your participation is crucial to the integrity of our program and understand that if you are unable to commit to any of the above circumstances, you will be asked to leave the program. Participate in community service events, fundraisers and various appearances, in some cases within a 72 hour notice. Be PASSING all classes AND have at least a GPA of 2.5. Must attend practices twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday 3:15pm-5:30pm, once team is selected. Student-athletes may NOT miss more than three (3) games, practices, fundraisers or events, INCLUDING for illness, appointments and family events. If this occurs, the student-athlete is subject to suspension or dismissal from the team. Attend Study Tables/Tutoring one (1) time per month. Must possess strong leadership skills. Must be accountable, timely, responsible and have excellent time management skills; including, but not limited to, keeping up with class work, projects and test preparation. Student-athletes will not be excused from games, practices or events because of their own lack of time management or preparation. Must be positive and respect teammates, self, coaches and cheer program administrator. All students are subject to the academic and behavioral policies of Executive Prep, including, but not limited to, the California Interscholastic Federation Athletic/Activity Code of Conduct. During the tryout proce ss, Thursday September 7, 2017, a s well as the Cheer Season have natural-one-color hair, be free of ALL piercings, gauges and tattoos, no artificial nails, no gel nail polish, no nail polish or color of any kind, including, but not limited to, French-tip or nude- NO EXCEPTIONS! Refusal to adhere to this policy, will result in suspension of games. If you choose to QUIT, you will neither be allowed to attend the annual awards banquet, nor tryout for the EPAF Cheer Team the following year. 3
