WAVE BASKETBALL Parent/Player Policies & Financial Contract WAVE BASKETBALL provides Elite Level instruction and training to our athletes offering the best opportunity to prepare for the next level. Our coaches are professionals who have played and coached the sport. Every coach is committed to providing you with top-notch instruction, training, and education in contemporary basketball techniques, strategies, and skills. Your coach has a personal responsibility to teach with integrity and be a role model for success, excellence and passion. We believe that basketball instruction is only part of what a club program should offer. We also focus on instilling a love for the game through positive coaching, sportsmanship, high-level training & competition. Some of our training will include exposure and preparation for college bound athletes, performance training, and mental conditioning for the more serious player. WAVE BASKETBALL is committed to developing athletes to their fullest potential with a lifelong passion for the game. Expectations WAVE BASKETBALL is for the serious basketball athlete! Our training & tournament phase is very demanding, but it will make you better, increase game knowledge, and improve your skill level WAVE BASKETBALL players are athletes who want to reach their potential from the beginner athlete to the elite. It is the philosophy of the WAVE BASKETBALL program to develop respect, discipline, commitment, and a positive self-image in each of the athletes. It is important that each player understand the concept of being a part of a team. Every athlete will be expected to conduct THEMSELVES appropriately at all times. You will be representing your family as well as the WAVE BASKETBALL program. Show respect at all times to coaches, teammates, officials at tournaments & parents. Be competitive, but not disrespectful toward other teams or clubs. Parents are expected to model appropriate behavior for their sons and other players and parents and to be supportive of the team, the club and the coaches without disrespecting other teams, players or their coaches. There will be zero tolerance for any disrespect by parents or players toward others. Player Policies Attendance: It is your responsibility as a player to notify your Coach of scheduled events that you will be missing. If your schedule has many conflicts, you should carefully consider whether you have the time to dedicate to our Travel Team program. We are looking for players who are committed to reaching their potential and who are willing to work hard to achieve this. Arriving on Time: Players are required to be prepared for practice/tournaments at the time the practice/game is intended to begin. Example: if a player arrives in the gym on time but still has to change into appropriate basketball attire, the player will be considered tardy. Practices: Players must give notification of their absence 24 hours prior to any scheduled practice, except in the case of an illness or emergency. Tournaments: It is the player s responsibility to give written (email) notification to her head coach or a Club Director at least 4 weeks prior to any scheduled tournament if he is unable to attend, except in the case of an illness or emergency. No player is permitted to leave a tournament site until all responsibilities are completed, unless specifically permitted by her head coach Overnight Travel: During any overnight travel, curfew will be 11:00pm on all nights prior to a match! It is our preference that all players stay with their parents or another team parent. It is the parent s responsibility to arrange housing for their son, if they cannot attend. Coaches are not permitted to arrange rides or hotel accommodations for athletes. Playtime: Playtime during tournaments is not guaranteed or negotiable and decisions about playing time will be made solely by the WAVE coaching staff and directors. Coaches will do their best to provide playing time to all players; however, every player must be willing to accept this rule in order to participate at this level.

Team Placement: Players must accept placement on the team by emailing the club director and paying the online deposit. If a player doesn't accept within the time period stated in the e-mail, their position can be given to another player. Zero Tolerance: WAVE BASKETBALL has a zero tolerance policy when a player is caught using profanity, possessing or using tobacco, drugs, or alcohol during any club event. WAVE players must adhere to curfew guidelines. Any participant found with someone who is not associated with the WAVE BASKETBALL group or with anyone of the opposite sex (other than a parent or sibling) in rooms will be immediately removed from the team. Players must adhere to all USAV and AAU rules & policies. Any violation of the above rules could result in the suspension or expulsion from WAVE BASKETBALL at the discretion of its directors. Club tuition and fees will not be refunded to players who violate these rules and lose their place on a team as a result.. Parent/Guardian/Guest Policies and Conduct: It is the responsibility of the parents/guardian/guest to understand and agree to the attendance policy under the player guidelines. All parents/guardian/guests are expected to conduct themselves in a positive fashion with regards to events. Parents are invited to attend all practices and tournaments, but must conduct themselves appropriately while in that environment. Parents who violate these rules could be asked to leave or banned from attending events. Parents are responsible for transporting their children to and from all tournaments. Team reps can assist in planning car pools for ones that need it. Parents are to be supportive of the entire Team at all times, and all Wave Teams while at tournaments. We encourage parents to cheer for our teams as long as their behavior does not reflect negatively on Wave. Guidelines for parents are no different from athletes in this regard. Only the head coach or the team captain, under the direction of the head coach, may question an official or gym supervisor. At no time should any parent address or yell at any official. At tournaments, parents/guardian/guests are expected to inform the coach when their child is leaving the tournament facility. Notification will be required if a player is to leave with anyone besides a Wave parent/guardian/guest. Parents/guardians/guests are asked to respect ALL other players, opponents, parents, guardians, guests, and officials involved with USA, US Amatuer, AAU, or USSSA Basketball and WAVE BASKETBALL. Negative comments will not be tolerated and will result the individual who made them being asked to leave. Dispute Policy: If a parent has a dispute over a coaching decision, they must wait 24 hours before speaking to the coach. If a parent approaches a coach about playtime decisions during a game or tournament, then that parent s son WILL be benched immediately. Please ensure you follow proper procedures to make sure that the team does not suffer for your decision to break the 24 hr. rule. This is to ensure that cooler heads prevail. If the problem concerns playtime or player discipline, the PLAYER must approach the coach first. If a parent does not follow this procedure, then playtime WILL be affected. This is a responsibility of the player. At no point will other players be discussed. If the parent still has a concern or problem, they can ask for a meeting with the club director that will include the coach, player, and parent. Even though the club director has a final say on all disputes, the team coach will be supported with all playtime decisions. We, at Wave, will help make sure that the player understands the coach s thinking and communicates ways for them to improve and earn more playtime. Please email the coach and club director that you would like to meet and briefly list your concerns ahead of time so that our meeting can be productive. IF A PARENT, GAURDIAN, OR FAMILY MEMBER BREAKS THE 24 HOUR RULE AND OR TRIES TO DISCUSS PLAY TIME WITH THE COACH, THAT PLAYER COULD BE HELD OUT OF PRACTICE FOR A WEEK AND BENCHED AT THE FOLLOWING TOURNAMENT. Payment Guidelines All payment should be made payable to WAVE on or before applicable due dates. There will be several payment options to help accommodate everyone. Please make sure that you make payments on time. Any payment not received on the due date or rejected due to incorrect information or insufficient funds will be subject to a service charge of 0. Any rejected or missing payment not received within 7 days after the date it is due will result in the affected player being denied access to practice and tournaments.
