Competitive Cheer: Frisco ISD high schools will not be participating in UIL Competitive Cheer in the 2015-2016 school year.
Division of Squads: Varsity: 16 cheerleaders/1-2 mascot(s) Made up of 10 th, 11 th and 12 th graders JV: 12 cheerleaders Made up of 10 th, 11 th and 12 th graders Freshmen: 12 cheerleaders Made up of 9 th graders only The 16 cheerleaders (10 th, 11 th, 12 th grade) with the highest score will make up the Varsity squad. The next 12 scores (10 th, 11 th, 12 th grade) will be the JV squad. **Above are maximum # s. There may be less on each squad.
Requirements for Tryouts: Candidates must be enrolled in FISD at the time of tryouts. Candidates must in live the attendance zone for the school they are trying out for or have proof of future residency in the school s zone for the 2015-2016 school year. Parent must attend orientation meeting or meet with sponsor to obtain required info. Candidates must turn in all required forms by Friday, February 20, 2015 at 4:30pm in the LHS office, no exceptions. Candidates may not have been ineligible for more than 2 grading periods during 2014-2015 school year. Candidates must be in good standing in regards to attendance and discipline.
Important tryout dates: Friday, February 20- All paperwork due Mon, March 2- Tryout Clinic Tues, March 3- Open gym (optional) Thurs, March 5- Cheer/Mascot Tryouts Fri, March 6- Tryout results posted after 4:30 p.m. on the LHS website Clinic and Tryouts held in LHS Main Gym.
Tryout information: Each candidate must try out each year Nationally qualified judges (non-fisd affiliated) will score candidates. Squad selection is 100% based on judge score. Prompt arrival is critical (see tryout times). Cheer Candidates will perform tumbling, jumps, and cheer individually, and will perform dance in small groups. Mascot will perform skit individually.
Tryout information: Tryouts are closed to the public. Parents may only be in attendance at another event on-campus. Parents are not allowed to be in the hallways, cafeteria, or any waiting area.
Minimum score requirement: Candidates must score 70% overall in order to be considered for selection. (must score 210 out of 300 possible total points). Sample score sheet outlines judging criteria (included in packet).
Mascot tryout process: Candidates will need to prepare an original skit, no more than 5 minutes. May include music, props, signs, etc Should be creative and entertaining. Candidates will wear mascot suit during tryouts. See sample score sheet for judging criteria.
Financial obligations: See Financial Obligations page in packet Some items may be reused from previous years First payments due April 6 th for camp and uniform fee ($330- F/ JV; $355- V) Second payment on May 4 th for camp clothes and accessories and additional t-shirts ($325 appx) Third payment on June 1 st for remaining items ($ appx.) Poms will be purchased by LHS Cheer
Uniforms: Varsity will be provided with 4 uniforms and warmups (rental fee of $55 is required). Sub-Varsity will be provided with 2 uniforms (rental fee of $30 is required). Cheerleader is responsible for damage or loss to any part of the uniform. Uniforms may be altered, but fabric may not be cut.

Accountability: Cheerleaders/ mascots are held accountable for meeting expectations outlined in the FISD Cheerleading/ Mascot Code of Conduct. Excused absences require prior notification By the student via Google doc form.
General info: UIL No Pass No Play policies are enforced. Any 3 ineligible grading periods will result in immediate dismissal from the squad. All rules become enforceable the day that the candidate is selected (tryout year).
