FALL 2017 TRIPS Sunset Stand Up Paddle Boarding September 1st, 2017 Fee $10 Duration Half Day Start your weekend adventures early with this sunset trip to Ft. Collins Friday evening! Leaders, transportation and equipment are all included. Day Hike and Yoga September 2nd, 2017 Fee $15 Escape to the outdoors to enjoy a day hike and the art of yoga as we surround ourselves with the beauty and sounds of nature under the sun. Whitewater Kayaking September 9th, 2017 Fee $20 Develop a variety of kayaking skills including surfing, eddy hoping, and spins on one of Colorado s whitewater rivers. Beginners must first enroll in a kayak roll clinic, held in the Butler-Hancock pool, prior to registration. Those classes will be held on August 31st and September 4th and are free for students. Hiking and Sport Climbing Overnight September 9th 10th, 2017 0 Duration 2 days, 1 night Located just outside Estes Park, Colorado join us at UNC s very own mountain cabin at Old Man Mountain. We will spend the weekend outdoor sport climbing, hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park and hanging out around the fire. Price includes transportation, all meals, leaders, lodging, park fees and equipment. RMNP Day Hike September 16th, 2017 Fee $15 UNC is less than an hour from Rocky Mountain National Park. Take a day with us to go hiking in the mountains and experience what this classic national park has to offer. Backpacking September 16th 17th, 2017 Fee $45 Duration 2 days, 1 night Do you love the outdoors and care what happens to the environment? If so, this course is for you. We will spend two days in the backcountry learning and practicing Leave No Trace ethics on how to minimize your impact. At the end of the course you will receive a Leave No Trace trainer certification that will allow you to train and teach others. Women s Backpacking September 23rd 24th, 2017 Fee $45 Duration 2 Days, 1 night Take a girl s weekend on a two-day backpacking experience in the mountains. We will carry everything we need for two nights on our backs. Beginners are welcome and basic backpacking equipment will be provided upon request. Sport Climbing September 30th, 2017 Fee $20 Get outside and experience what it s like to climb on real rock. This is a great trip for anyone new to rock climbing. Belay orientations are required for this trip and are free at the climbing wall inside the Campus Recreation Center. 5 University of Northern Colorado

FALL trips Canoeing Overnight October 7th 8th, 2017 0 Duration 2 days, 1 night Join Outdoor Pursuits as we enjoy one of the many beautiful waterways in Colorado on this overnight canoe trip. No previous canoeing experience required. Can you Canoe? Workshop offered September 21st if you want to make the most of your experience. Garden of the Gods & Manitou Incline October 14th, 2017 Fee $15 Difficulty Intermediate This trip is a true test of your grit and determination! The Manitou Incline was originally built as a cable car to carry materials to build pipelines on Pikes Peakbut after the cable car was removed, locals began to use it as a workout! This 1 mile hike up Pikes Peak comes with a 2,000 elevation gain, ending in the most spectacular view of Colorado Springs and the eastern plains. What goes up must come down, so we will run (or walk) 4 miles down Barr Trail to get back to the base of Pikes Peak. Never fear, this strenuous hike will be followed by a low-key lunch and walk around Garden of the Godsa state park surrounded by the most idyllic rocks in Colorado Springs. Transportation is included in the trip cost. Mountain Biking October 14th, 2017 Fee $15 Have you always wanted to go mountain biking but either don t have a bike or don t know where to go? Join Outdoor Pursuits on our mountain biking adventure off campus. Transportation and bike rentals included in registration cost. Day Hike October 21st, 2017 Fee $15 Get the most out of your weekend by spending the day in the mountains! We will spend the day on the trail hiking between 5-7 miles and having lunch on the trail. Transportation, entrance fees and equipment are included. Cave of the Winds November 11th, 2017 0 Cave of the Winds is a cave in the Pikes Peak region of Colorado. Explore undeveloped sections of the Manitou Grand Caverns. You will climb and crawl through passageways lit only by flashlights. Prepare to get muddy! Entrance fee and transportation included. Thanksgiving Cabin Retreat November 22nd 26th, 2017 Fee $250 Difficulty Intermediate (lessons not included) Duration 4 days, 3 nights Take a break with Outdoor Pursuits with a four-day getaway as we stay in a stunning two story cabin with a hot tub nested in Winter Park, Colorado. This adventure also includes three days of skiing or snowboarding in Copper Mountain and Winter Park, as well as a Thanksgiving meal. Loveland Ski/Board December 2nd, 2017 Fee $70 Difficulty Intermediate (lessons not included) Take an adventure with Outdoor Pursuits to the slopes at the Loveland Ski Area! Your fee includes transportation, lift ticket and equipment. Previous experience is encouraged, as no professional instruction will be included. Outdoor Pursuits 6

FALL 2017 TECHNICAL SKILLS WORKSHOPS S mores & Slacklining August 21st, 2017 @ 4pm Fee FREE A fire pit, good music, the perfect s more, and slacklining with friends what could possibly be a better way to start up your fall semester? Stop on in-- no registration required! Kayaking Beginner Clinic August 30th, 2017 @ 4pm This beginner course offers students and introduction to Kayaking. The course will focus on the basic construction of a kayak, paddle strokes, safety, and self-rescue. After completing this course, students will be eligible for one of our kayaking trips in the summer and fall. 7 University of Northern Colorado

FALL workshops Yoga for Runners September 13th, 2017 Running is one of the most popular forms of aerobic training. For those who are frequent runners, it is important that proper stretching and strengthening exercises are accounted for in training to reduce the risk of injury. This workshop will be led by a certified yoga instructor, who will offer positions and cues to help runners access important postural muscles that are stressed during the repetitive nature of running. Intro to Route Setting September 15th, 2017 Have you ever wondered how to set climbing routes at an indoor rock wall? The Outdoor Pursuits climbing wall staff would love to teach you through hands-on experience! By the end of this workshop, you will have created your very own climbing route at the UNC wall. Leave No Trace September 20th, 2017 With millions of visitors exploring the backcountry each year, Leave No Trace has never been more important! At this workshop you will learn about specific ways to lessen your impact in the backcountry, keeping it pristine and clean for all future guests to enjoy. Intro to Lead Climbing September 27th, 2017 Lead climbing is an advanced skill for rock climbers. Outdoor Pursuits staff members will be teaching this skill at the UNC Rec Center climbing wall, using bolts/hangers and quick-draws that mimic the outdoor reality of setting up a line. Kayak Roll Clinic October 1st, 2017 This course is designed to start where the beginner course left off. The course will focus on self-rescue and using the eskimo roll. Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to rent out Outdoor Pursuit kayaks. Trail Running for Beginners October 6th, 2017 Running isn t as self-explanatory as you might think. Proper running form is important to avoid injury as well as aid performance. During this workshop, we will take a field trip outside Greeley and enjoy a 3-4 mile run on a dirt trail! Transportation and park fees are included in the registration cost. Yoga for Climbers October 18th, 2017 For those who are frequent rock climbers, proper stretching and strengthening exercises must be included in training to reduce the risk of injury and unbalanced physique. This workshop will be led by a certified yoga instructor, who will offer positions and cues to help climbers access important postural muscles that are stressed during their climbing training. Intro to Comp Climbing October 27th, 2017 Competition climbing is structured a little differently than a normal climbing gym setup. If you ve never competed in a climbing competition before and want to climb in a simulated competition, sign up for this workshop and we ll teach you the process! Score cards and climbing equipment are included in the cost. Basic Wilderness First Aid November 8th, 2017 When it comes to mishap in the wilderness, it s not if, it s when. We will go over the basics of wilderness first aid, allowing you to calmly and appropriately address frequent outdoor injuries or illnesses blisters, rolled ankles, and dehydration oh my! Supplies included in the registration cost. Climbing Techniques November 15th, 2017 Climbing is about so much more than arm strength! Register for this technique-based workshop and learn some tips and tricks to get the most out of your rock climbing experience. Outdoor Pursuits 8

SPRING 2018 TRIPS Snowshoe Day Hike January 20th, 2018 Fee $15 Just because it s winter doesn t mean you can t play outside! Join us for a snowshoe hike fit for beginners and experienced hikers alike. Entrance fees, transportation and equipment are provided. Ski/Board Lessons at Eldora January 27th, 2018 Fee $70 (lessons included) Broaden your knowledge of winter sports with this professionally instructed trip. Join Outdoor Pursuits and other beginners as we learn how to conquer the slopes. Transportation, instruction, lift ticket and rentals included. Ice Climbing at Camp Alexander February 3rd, 2018 5 Conquer the ice on this thrilling trip with Outdoor Pursuits. Experience the difference between climbing on rock and climbing on ice. There will be multiple routes ranging in skill level, making this a great trip for beginner and experienced climbers. Winter Park Cabin Retreat February 9th 11th, 2018 Fee $200 (lessons not included) Duration 2 days, 2 nights Escape Greeley before mid-terms hit with a weekend retreat to a log cabin nestled 10 miles outside Winter Park Resort. We will spend two nights in the cabin and two days on the slopes. Transportation, lodging, ski/snowboard rentals, lift tickets, and meals are all included. New Moon Snowshoe February 16th, 2018 Fee $15 The stars will be shining bright, and the new moon will be hidden from the Earth s view. Come take a night-time snowshoe hike in the Colorado mountains to experience the brisk winter sky in all its glory! Nordic Skiing February 17th, 2018 Fee $60 Ever wanted to learn how to Nordic ski? Here is your chance at the Nordic center in Breckenridge. We will have a guided adventure where instructors will prepare you for the experience of gliding across a beautiful winter wonderland. Transportation, entrance fee, equipment and guides will be included. Yurt Trip February 17th- 18th, 2018 0 Duration 2 days, 1 night Open your door and explore! With views of Mt. Elbert (14,439ft), Mt. Massive (14,429ft), and the collegiate ranges the views are spectacular. Join us for a weekend in a backcountry yurt located in Leadville, Colorado. Arapahoe Basin February 24th, 2018 Fee $70 Difficulty Intermediate (lessons not included) A-Basin is an alpine ski area in the Rocky Mountains located in the White River National Forest. With 8 lifts and 107 trails you are destined for great day on the slopes. Transportation, lift ticket and rentals included. 9 University of Northern Colorado

Whether you re new to Keystone or a seasoned veteran, night skiing means you have the terrain and the atmosphere for a great nighttime ride. Copper Mountain March 3rd, 2018 Fee $70 Difficulty Intermediate (lessons not included) Join Outdoor Pursuits for a fun-filled day on the slopes at Copper Mountain. Previous snowboard or ski experience is a plus. Your fee includes transportation, lift ticket, and equipment. Sport Climbing April 21st, 2018 Fee $20 Difficulty Intermediate This trip is great for anyone looking to take their climbing skills outside on real rock and for anyone looking to broaden their climbing experience. Belay orientations are required for this trip and are free at the climbing wall inside the campus recreation center. Transportation, park fees and equipment included. Sky Diving April 28th, 2018 Fee $200 Cross sky diving off your bucket list and join Outdoor Pursuits as we travel 18,000ft above sea level to jump out of plane. This adventure is sure to get your heart rate up as you take in a birds-eye view of Colorado s beauty. Advanced Climbing April 28th, 2018 Fee $25 Difficulty Advanced Looking to take the next step in your experience with rock climbing? On this outing, Outdoor Pursuits staff will coach participants in safe outdoor lead-climbing (or cleaning) practices, appropriate anchor setting, and lead-belaying technique. This trip is strictly for semi-experienced climbers who are interested in challenging themselves and learning to lead climb. Transportation and equipment are included in the registration cost. RMNP Service Project April 21st, 2018 Fee FREE This is your chance to give back to the areas you love and enjoy. Our trip leaders will drive you to Rocky Mountain National Park where the projects range from fire reduction to trail mitigation. Outdoor Pursuits 10

SPRING BREAK TRIPS 11 University of Northern Colorado Spring Break - MOAB March 10th 17th, 2018 Fee $275 Duration 8 Days This trip is a classic! Spend your Spring Break immersed in adventure with a trip to Moab, Utah! We will spend a week hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, stand up paddle-boarding, and camping along the Colorado River. We will also be sure to introduce you to Arches National Park, and show you where the arch on the Utah license plate resides! Transportation, meals, campsite fees, permits, park entrance fees, and equipment included in the cost.

SPRING 2018 TECHNICAL SKILLS WORKSHOPS Snowshoe How-To January 17th, 2018 This workshop provides inspiration, education and practice to become a confident snowshoer! This workshop will teach you all the essential tools and tricks for making the most out of winter hiking. Yoga for Snow Sports January 31st, 2018 For those who are frequent skiers and snowboarders, proper stretching and strengthening exercises can work out those stiff, sore spots in the body. This workshop will be led by a certified yoga instructor, who will offer positions and cues to help snow sport athletes access important postural muscles that are stressed during their sport. AIARE Avalanche Level I Certification February 3rd 4th, 2018 Fee $300 This 24 hour certification course will equip students with knowledge of rescue techniques, equipment safety, risk management, and tips to planning a safe trip in the snow-packed backcountry. Cost includes tuition, lodging in Estes Park, and the certification test. Avalanche Awareness February 7th, 2018 Ever wondered what causes avalanches, how to minimize you risk and what to do if everything starts going wrong? Come to our avalanche awareness course to learn the basics. Bar-Mitts-Fun February 21st, 2018 Do you love riding your bike but the cold winter breeze burns your hands? Come to the Outdoor Pursuits bike shop located in the Gear Shop to learn how to make bar Mitts so that you can enjoy riding all year round. Kayaking Beginner Course March 25th and April 29th, 2018 This beginner course offers students and introduction to Kayaking. The course will focus on the basic construction of a kayak, paddle strokes, safety, and self-rescue. After completing this course, students will be eligible to participate in our summer and fall kayaking trips. Colorado Wildlife and Landscapes March 28th, 2018 Colorado is a region with many unique animals and stunning scenery in fact, people travel from all around the world to learn about the geographical wonders that reside here. Want to impress your friends and relatives with knowledge during your next mountain trip? Register for this workshop to learn more about the specifics of what Colorado is made of! Kayak Roll Clinic April 8th, 2018 This course is designed to start off where the beginner kayaking course left off. The course will focus on self-rescue using the eskimo roll. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to rent an Outdoor Pursuits kayak with a spray skirt. S mores Clinic April 25th, 2018 Fee FREE Join outdoor pursuits on the Campus Recreation lawn for some s mores goodness. We will have a fire, crazy creek chairs for relaxing, and a handful of s mores combinations and toppings. Spring workshops Wilderness First Responder Certification May 11th 20th, 2018 Fee TBD The Wilderness First Responder Certification is an 80 hour intensive course designed to provide you with the tools you need to make important medical and evacuation decisions in remote locations. Courses are taught by season National Outdoor Leadership instructor s right here on campus. Students can also elect to receive course credit through the University of Utah for an additional cost. COES Conference April 13th-15th, 2018 0/75 The fifth annual Colorado Outdoor Educators Symposium will be held right here at UNC Outdoor Pursuits. This conference designed to give students a conference experience without the cost associated with typical conferences. We will have a keynote speaker, educational sessions throughout the weekend and technical skills breakout sessions to help further your leadership and outdoor knowledge. Outdoor Pursuits 14

CLIMBING WALL CLIMBING WALL EVENTS 15 University of Northern Colorado Climbing Gym Shuttle First Friday of the Month Fee $7 For the first time ever we will be offering $7 shuttle rides to the local indoor climbing gyms in the northern Colorado area. Sign up at the climbing wall with student bill or at the Outdoor Pursuits Gear Shop. Shuttles will be available the first Friday of every month during the Fall and Spring Semester. See a climbing wall employee for this semester s schedule. Intro to Route Setting September 15th, 2017 Have you ever wondered how to set climbing routes at an indoor rock wall? The Outdoor Pursuits climbing wall staff would love to teach you through hands-on experience! By the end of this workshop, you will have created your very own climbing route at the UNC wall. Intro to Lead Climbing September 27th, 2017 Lead climbing is an advanced skill for rock climbers. In order to independently climb outside, one must learn the proper techniques for lead climbing and lead belaying, as well as setting a safe anchor. Outdoor Pursuits staff members will be teaching this skill at the UNC Rec Center climbing wall, using bolts/hangers and quick-draws that mimic the outdoor reality of setting up a line. If you ve never competed in a climbing competition before and want to climb in a simulated competition, sign up for this workshop and we ll teach you the process! Score cards and climbing equipment are included in the cost. Climbing Techniques November 15th, 2017 Climbing is about so much more than arm strength! Register for this technique-based workshop and learn some tips and tricks to get the most out of your rock climbing experience. SERVICES Ropes Course The UNC Ropes Course offers a four hour low and high element team building day with 12 low elements like the Swinging Log, Whale Watch, Spiders Web, and Mohawk Walk. It also has 12 high elements like Pamper Pole, Zip-line, Climbing Tower and Cat Walk. Depending on your group s goals and objectives we will create a team building atmosphere where everyone will have fun and benefit from the experience. We have 10 top ropes along with two TruBlue auto belay systems. On average there will be 12 top rope routes and nearly 50 bouldering problems. Every weekend a section of the wall is stripped, cleaned and set with new routes so there is always a new problem to try. Hours Sunday Thursday 5:00 pm- 11:00 pm Fridays- special events only Gear Shop The Gear Shop is a great resource for all UNC outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you are a UNC student, faculty or staff member, the Gear Shop has equipment available for rent by the day, weekend or week. The Gear Shop staff are available to help you plan your next adventure. All equipment rentals are free. Reservations can be made by using the online reservation form from the website or in person at the Gear Shop. Equipment We have nearly everything you could need to venture into the Colorado wilderness from water sports to winter sports.
