Commercial licenses may be purchased only at a Marine Resource Division office. Application forms for commercial and recreational.seafood licenses may be requested by contacting (251) 968-7576 or (251) 861-2882. A valid social security number and date of birth or incorporation of business are required for all license purchases. Live Bait Dealer licenses may be purchased only from the Dauphin Island office. The dealer's boat, truck and/or place oflbusiness must be inspected before purchasing a live bait dealers license. Nonresidents care charged the same fees :as charged Alabama residents to fish in their state, but not less than twice the cist for saiqjicense that Alabama residents pay. The Alabama Lt:'.gislature passed into law Act 95-287, which changed the law with regard to eligibility of persons wanting to purchase a commercial gill net license in 1995 and subsequent years. In order to qualify to purchase a license, the applicant must show that he: 1. Purchased a license in two of five years during the years 1989 to 1993 and provide proof in the form or original, un-amended income tax returns that at least 50% of his income was derived from the capture and sale of seafood species (commercial fishing), or 2. That he purchased a license in the years 1989 to 1993 and paid his applicable Alabama income taxes in each of the years 1989 to 1993. 3
