Kirsten Karbach kmkarbach@gmail.com Game Notes Dunedin (2-1) vs Clearwater (1-2) Sunday, April 8, 2018 Dunedin Stadium, 1:00 p.m. Game No. 4 LISTEN LIVE: threshersbaseball.com Starting Pitchers RHP Alejandro Requena (0-0) vs RHP Josh DeGraaf Shark Bytes Organization Report GAMBOA, LARTIGUE REACH 3 TIMES IN 6-1 LOSS: Arquimedes Gamboa and Henri Lartigue combined to reach base six times on Saturday night, but the Dunedin Blue Jays powered past the Clearwater Threshers, 6-1 at Dunedin Stadium. Gamboa finished 2-for-4 with a walk, and is now 4-for-11 (.364) through his first three games. Lartigue walked and singled twice, going 2-for-3 in his Threshers debut. McKenzie Mills worked a perfect first and got out of a bases-loaded, no out situation unscathed in the second, but the Blue Jays utilized the long ball to put up three runs and take the lead in the third. Mills permitted four runs on six hits across four innings, throwing 80 pitches (50 strikes). HOMER HAPPY: In the first three games of this series, the Threshers and Blue Jays have combined to launch eight home runs after Bradley Jones and Riley Adams went back-to-back for the Blue Jays in the third inning last night. Jose Pujols and Adam Haseley each went yard in the season opener for Clearwater, while Nash Knight homered for Dunedin. The Threshers clubbed three home runs on Friday when Darick Hall and Edgar Cabral went back-to-back to open the second inning, and Luke Williams added a one-out solo shot in the frame. Clearwater led the Florida State League in home runs a season ago, going yard 104 times on the season. 1ST ROUNDERS HIGHLIGHT OPENING DAY ROSTER: The Threshers Opening Day roster features a pair of first round draft picks in the outfield, in 2016 first overall pick Mickey Moniak, and 2017 eighth overall pick Adam Haseley. The lineup will also include 2017 South Atlatic League MVP Darick Hall, who set the Lakewood BlueClaws records for home runs (27) and RBIs (96) last season, and 2017 SAL All- Stars Jose Gomez and Edgar Cabral. FSL All-Star reliever Jeff Singer is back in Clearwater to start the season after tying with Seth McGarry for the league lead in saves (19) in 2017. HEAD TO HEAD: The Threshers look for a split of the four-game series this afternoon at Dunedin Stadium. Last year the Threshers finished 5-9 against the Blue Jays, with a 2-5 recordon the road. Dunedin won the wild card in 2017 after Tampa took both halves, and the Blue Jays would earn the title of FSL co-champions after the FSL Finals were cancelled due to Hurricane Irma.
