WELCO OME TO THE INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT COURSE MEET OUR COUSE DIRECTOR Mike Sobel PADI Course Director # 184319 EFR Instructor Trainer Mike took his first blue water dive in 1995 in the beautiful waters off the shores of Cozumel. Now after a long careerr as a successful business man and with over 10 years in the dive industry, Mike has again returned to Cozumel to share his experiences and teach the PADI IDC. Mike has enjoyed working around the world in places such as Roatan Honduras, St. Maarten West Indies, Mallorca Spain, Koh Tao Thailand, Micronesia and Viet Nam. Mike is also in charge of the very successful Divemaster Internship program. My missions are simple; provide the best qualityy education through the PADI system of diver education with World Wide experience so that every diver feels comfortable and can enjoy what the underwater realm has to offer.
OVERVIEW To qualify for PADI Instructor Development Course, you'll need to: Be certified as a PADI Divemaster or leadership level with another recreational diver training organization. Be at least 18 years old. Have been certified as a diver for at least 6 months. Be in good physical condition for diving and submit a medical exam form signed by a physician. Have completed and logged at least 100 open water dives with experience in night, deep and navigation. The PADI Instructor Development Course program consists of: Formal training conducting PADI programs and experience programs. Independent study assignments. Practical application sessions. Written examination. Module 1. Preparation (2 3 days) The IDC Candidate arrives a few days prior to the IDC start date and participates in Skill practice in Confined Water or Assisting on Courses. Review of Divemaster Theory, Rescue Skill practice and "fun diving" to get familiar with the local dive sites around Cozumel. Review DM Theory using the Diving Knowledge Workbook, Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving, and Dive Master Exams. Review the following using the materials in your IDC crew pack and those available in the IDC classroom. Module 2. Instructor Development Course. 14 days. This module includes Assistant Instructor Course, Open Water Scuba Instructor and EFR (CPR and First Aid) Instructor, Nitrox Instructor and O2 Provider Instructor. This program will build upon your abilities to organize and supervise dive activities, while concentrating on developing teaching skills. Through independent study, classroom sessions and practical application, candidates learn to construct effective teaching presentations and conduct PADI programs. To help you through the program, PADI has developed an array of learning tools. During the IDC you will use the latest teaching techniques, the complete system of PADI support materials, and will be continuously assessed on your teaching and presentation skills. You will be required to give additional teaching presentations beyond that of the usual IDC Program. This gives you an added advantage not only during the final Instructor Examination (IE), but also prepares you for a future career as a diving professional. Upon successful completion you will be awarded an IDC completion form, which is your passport to the IE. See full IDC schedule Module 3. PADI Instructor Exam. 2 days. Instructor Examinations is conducted over 2 days with PADI Examiners from PADI Americas. The IE. Includes evaluation of Dive theory, Standard and Procedures, Academic, Confined and Open Water presentations and Rescue Skill #7 from the PADI Rescue Course. Module 4. Master Scuba Diver Program. (1 week) The program is integrated with Specialty Instructor Training including Enriched Air Instructor, Deep Diver Instructor, and Photography Instructor, Wreck Instructor and Night Diving Instructor and more. The internship program ends with an application for Master Scuba Diver Trainer.

PADI Instructor Examination The IE is a 2 day evaluative assessment of your teaching abilities. You will be tested in several areas. Dive Theory 5 multiple choice exams of 12 questions each in Physics, Physiology, Skills & Environment, Equipment and RDP 75% pass on each topic General Standards & Procedures Open book Exam of 50 multiple choice questions 75% pass 1 Classroom prescriptive teaching presentation (5 8 minutes) 1 Confined Water teaching presentation of 1 skill Demonstration of 5 skills from the 20 in the Scuba Review program 1 Open Water evaluation presentation of 2 skills Rescue Assessment Rescue Course Skill #7, demonstration quality The ability to pass an IE is a natural progression of sitting the IDC. You will have several opportunities during your IDC to practice these assignments and will do a mock IE before the real PADI IE.
