WHAT ARE THE PREREQUISITES FOR ENROLLING IN THE IDC? PADI Divemaster or leadership level certification with another diver training organization. Including: 18 years old 60 logged dives; documented of experience at night diving, deep diving and underwater navigation. If not a PADI Divemaster, successfully complete the PADI Divemaster course diver rescue skills assessment Be renewed for the current year. Certified diver for six months. Medical clearance attesting to dive fitness signed by a physician within the previous 12 months. A licensed Physician, who is not the Applicant, must sign the form and state that the participant is fit for diving. Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care course completion (or qualifying training) within the last 24 months. Submit documentation of any equivalent certification for entry level, advanced, rescue and leadership level issued by another recreational diver training organization (non PADI certifications). To attend an IE the Candidate must have a minimum of 100 logged dives. The Candidate must also have proof of successful completion of the IDC or the OWSI Program within the past 12 months. HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THE IDC? The secret to successfully passing the IE is to prepare yourself for the IDC! INDEPENDENT STUDY There are a number of things you can do on your own to prepare for the IDC: Familiarise yourself with PADI s Guide to Teaching. Use the Instructor Development Section of the book to guide your learning and review the worksheets in that section. You will be completing these worksheets during workshops throughout the IDC course. You will be referring to the PADI s Guide to Teaching frequently during the Instructor Development Course. You must OWN the manual and bring the hologram decal that comes with the manual. Familiarise yourself with the PADI Instructor Manual (paper or digital) version you will be using at the IDC. Practice doing the Standards Exams by referring to the Instructor Manual. Read the recommended articles from The Best of Undersea Journal, the Business of Diving and Law & the Diving Professional books. Refresh your dive theory knowledge by reviewing The Encyclopaedia of Recreational Diving and completing the Diving Knowledge Workbook. Practice doing the Divemaster Exams and review the Knowledge Development Questions from PADI Manuals. Practice performing the Skills Circuit fluidly and at Demonstration Quality. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT MASTER SCUBA DIVER TRAINER (FIVE SPECIALTIES) To apply for Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating, an individual must: Renewed, PADI Instructor. Five PADI Specialty Instructor ratings. Certified 25 PADI divers; no more than 5 from courses without dives, no more than 5 from PADI Seal Team or Master Seal Team registrations. IDC STAFF INSTRUCTOR COURSE To enrol in a PADI IDC Staff Instructor course, an individual must: PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, renewed and in teaching status. Emergency First Responder Instructor.
