Swim Academy LTAD Fundamentals The Leatherhead swimming academy will teach swimmers from non-swimmer up to a level where the swimmers will be able to join the competitive program at Leatherhead Swimming Club. The structure of the swimming academy will run in line with the National Teaching plan from the ASA. The program consists of 10 stages for the swimmers to progress through. The swimmers will learn through structured lessons and will be assessed each term for the stage that they are completing. The swimmers will have the opportunity to purchase badges and certificates at the end of each successfully completed stage. Swimmers may be selected by the coaching staff for inclusion in to Leatherhead swimming clubs competitive program. Transition Silver and Transition Blue LTAD-Fundamentals/Swim Skills Girls 8+, Boys8 + The swimmers must be at Stage 8 of the ASA National teaching Plan to be selected to join the competitive program of LSC. Swimmers may be selected before stage 8 if the coaching staff believe that the swimmer has the ability to train with Transition Silver and Blue without loss of form. Swimmers will be introduced to skills such as using the pace clock and lane discipline. Swimmers will also be taught basic mobility exercise that will be performed before training sessions. The main emphasis for Transition Silver and Blue is the development of their swimming skills and stamina in training. Swimmers will have one skills based session and one stamina based session each week. At this stage of the swimmers development training is more important than competing. The swimmers must ensure that they have the skills and training behind them if they are going to reach their full potential in their swimming. The swimmers in this squad should be attending all of the training sessions offered. Talent ID Program Swimmers that are identified by the coaching staff to be Talented may be fast tracked through squads. This is the call of the coaching staff with the final decision with the Head Coach. This fast tracking of these swimmers is to give them optimum chance to achieve full potential.
