So Cal HCSC Holiday Luncheon The Southern California HCSC Social Club gathered for their annual holiday luncheon on Saturday, December 5, 2015 in South Orange County, California. The event was staged at The Vintage Steakhouse near the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano in San Juan Capistrano. The small town of San Juan Capistrano acts as a travel hub for the adjacent coastal community with Amtrak trains passing north and south during the day. The ambiance of the restaurant reinforces this theme as it was constructed from many railroad coaches. Additionally, legend has it that the dining room has been haunted for years. At the end of the event no sightings were reported. An ad hoc committee of HCSC members headed by Ron Salzetti and President Mark Schultz scouted Orange County for an appropriate venue for this event. The committee selected this restaurant due to the restaurant s reputation, menu and ambiance. The menu featured a choice of either Salmon Béarnaise, Prime Top Sirloin, Chicken Maderia, a Slow Smoked Pork Chop, or Angel Hair Pasta with basil, Roma tomatoes and roasted garlic. A wedge salad started lunch and a puff pastry capped it. Both red and white wine were available on each table. Members spent the first 90 minutes of the luncheon socializing, visiting and catching up on trips and activities from early in the year. Then Schultz introduced the owner of the restaurant, and he provided to a history of the restaurant followed by a hearty holiday greeting. After lunch President Shultz conducted a short business meeting. He welcomed all and recognized the farthest travelers, Brad and Charlotte Ferguson, who hail from Clovis, Ca., He also acknowledged first time attendees Wallace Cravens and Fausto Morisy. Schultz then introduced Larry Noble, Secretary of the HCSC Foundation, who gave a brief history, update and description of the goals of the Foundation. He thanked all for helping the foundation in 2015 with an increase in personnel giving. He also related to his audience the increase of former associates who are now being helped by the foundation. Noble concluded by recognizing foundation board members who were present. Shultz then charted the activities planned by the LMG board in 2016. In 2016 there will be five events available to members instead of the normal four including:. February, 2016 Spring Fling in Palm Springs, CA..
