Welcome to the 2015 Charlotte County Fit for Life Senior Games! March 8 March 29, 2015 It is our purpose to provide a fulfilling and rewarding experience for all. Our Olympic-style event focuses on athletic competitions, camaraderie, and recreational opportunities for seniors of all ages. Eligibility Open to amateur athletes, 50 years of age as of 12/31/15, regardless of residency. Age Divisions Age divisions for single competitions are: 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95+. The youngest member of a doubles or team event will determine the age category they will participate in. NOTE: on occasion an older individual(s) may be grouped in a lower age division so that they may compete. If this individual receives a medal in a lower age group, provision will be taken to medal the next place finisher in the appropriate age group if they should be moved down to compete. Entry Fee A one-time registration fee of $10.00 entitles each participant to a gift bag including a souvenir t-shirt. There is a $4.00 fee for each event. For example, if an athlete wants to participate in the 100 and 200 meter Freestyle swimming, the fee would be $18.00. Entry fee is payable in advance, by check, cash (in person only), Visa or MasterCard. Checks are payable to BCC or Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners. Payment and completed registration forms will be accepted at any Charlotte County Recreation Facility, or mailed to: Charlotte County Community Services Attn: Senior Games 3460 N. Access Road, Englewood, FL 34224 Entry Deadline The deadline for receipt of entries is February 13, 2015. THE ENTRY DEADLINE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED! Refunds Entry fees are refundable only if an event is cancelled. Participants must request a refund in writing. Schedule/Time Conflicts Game officials highly recommend that participants choose their events carefully so as not to create conflicts. Please note the schedule and location as events are spread throughout the County, with games in Englewood, Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda. Keep in mind that event directors reserve the right to combine, delay, postpone, or cancel any event due to uncontrollable events or inclement weather. Participants are required to check in 30 minutes prior to competition. Review the event schedule carefully to avoid conflicts. The duration of a competition will depend on the number of entries. Some competitions may extend more than one day. Tournament format for most of the competitions will be determined by the number of entries. Rules & Regulations Competitions will be conducted in accordance with the Florida Senior Games State Championship Rules of Competition except as modified by the Charlotte County Fit for Life Senior Games. The Charlotte County Fit for Life Senior Games reserves the right to disqualify any player or spectator from further participation or attendance in the Charlotte County Fit for Life Senior Games for inappropriate conduct. The Charlotte County Fit for Life Senior Games is sanctioned by the Florida Sports Foundation and is a qualifier for the Florida Senior Games State Championships. Qualifying competitions for the Florida Senior Games State Championships are designated with an asterisk (*) on the Games Schedule. Awards Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be presented to the winners in each age division in each event. If you are unable to stay or do not receive your medal at the event, you may pick it up the week after the games at the Tringali Recreation Center, 3460 N. Access Road, Englewood, FL 34224. Facility Fees An additional facility fee will be charged for the following events: bowling, and golf. These fees are due the day of the event, at the designated facility.

CYCLING SUNDAY, MARCH 8 Harness Road & Brig Circle West Intersection, Placida 5K and 10K time trials. Cyclists must provide their own bicycle and helmet (helmets are mandatory). Road, cross country, or recumbent bikes may be used. No fairings are allowed. Starting times will be of equal intervals (1 minute or less). No allowances will be made for mishaps, mechanical, or otherwise. All cycling events will be conducted in accordance with US Cycling Federation (USCF) rules. Director: Natalie Moak (941.681.3742) Games Schedule SWIMMING MONDAY, MARCH 9 South County Regional Park 670 Cooper Street, Punta Gorda The pool is a heated outdoor facility. All events are measured in yards and will be timed. False starts will result in disqualification. Athletes are strongly recommended to compete in no more than 3 events. Events included are listed on the registration form. Director: Ken Mills (941.505.8686) TABLE TENNIS TUESDAY, MARCH 10 Harold Avenue Recreation Center 23400 Harold Avenue, Port Charlotte Players must provide their own paddle. Double elimination tournament will be utilized in single play and single elimination tournament will be utilized in doubles play. Play will be best of 5 games. Games are to 11 points. All matches will be conducted in accordance with the US Table Tennis Association. Director: Stafford Milligan (941.627.1074) GOLF TUESDAY, MARCH 10 Check-In: 7:30 a.m. Start: 8:00 a.m. Rotonda Golf & Country Club 266 Rotonda Cir, Rotonda West Tournament will be 18-hole medal play. Handicaps are not used in scratch play. Golf cart use is mandatory and included in the fees. There is an additional fee of $40 for this event payable at the course the day of the event. Groups MUST play in their own age group. Director: Scott Geezil (941.681.3743) BOCCE WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11 Port Charlotte Beach Park 4500 Harbor Boulevard, Port Charlotte Games will be played in accordance with US Bocce Federation rules. Games will be formatted in accordance with the number of registered athletes. Teams will be paired on day of the event. Director: David Plautz (941.627.1628) SHUFFLEBOARD THURSDAY, MARCH 12 Higgs Park 150 Higgs Drive, Port Charlotte All matches consist of 16 frames; 8 on yellow, 8 on black. Highest score wins. In case of a tie, 2 extra frames will be played until tie is broken. All matches will be conducted in accordance with the official rules of the National Shuffleboard Association. Athletes may compete with only one partner per event. Doubles partners may be mixed sex. The age division will be determined by the younger age of the two partners. Players must provide their own cues. Director: David Plautz (941.627.1628) BASKETBALL FRIDAY, MARCH 13 Harold Avenue Recreation Center 23400 Harold Avenue, Port Charlotte Free Throw Shooting 3 rounds of 10 shots. From free throw line. The total of 3 rounds will determine the final score. Spot Field Goal Shooting 2 rounds of 5 shots from 5 spots on the floor. Total of all 3 rounds will determine the final score. Timed Field Goal Shooting 3 rounds of 60 seconds from 5 spots on the floor. Total of all 3 rounds will determine the final score. TENNIS SINGLES SATURDAY MARCH 14 DOUBLES & MIXED DOUBLES SUNDAY, MARCH 15 Harold Ave Recreation Center 23400 Harold Ave, Port Charlotte Doubles must register partners. Players must provide their own racquet. The number of entrants will determine format. All matches will be conducted in accordance with the US Tennis Association. Games Schedule TRACK & FIELD SATURDAY, MARCH 14 Charlotte High School 1250 Cooper Street, Punta Gorda All track events are timed finals. All field events will allow 3 attempts (no finals). A time schedule will be available at check-in. Throwing implements will be available for use by the competitors. All track and field events are governed by USATF rules. The competitors must not wear clothing that may impede the view of the judges. The events included are listed on the registration form. RC SAILING SUNDAY, MARCH 15 South County Regional Park Sailing Pond 670 Cooper Street, Punta Gorda Soling 1 Meter. Your own radio controlled model sailboat is required. AMYA Rules will apply. Director: Rene Ostherhage (941.505.8686) Directors: Rene Osterhage (941.505.8686) BOWLING SINGLES SATURDAY, MARCH 21 DOUBLES SUNDAY, MARCH 22 Check-In: 12:00p.m. Start 12:30p.m. Treasure Lanes 1059 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte Bowlers are encouraged to bring their own balls. Balls may be weighed before competition. The tournament will be based on scratch scores. Bowlers will be divided into squads by age division. The event director will assign bowling times and lanes. Bowlers will bowl 3 games. Total pins determine winners over 3 games (same lane). American Bowling Congress and Women s International Bowling Congress rules apply. There is an additional fee of $8.00 per event that is payable the day of the event. Event Director reserves the right to modify format based on number of tournament entries. Best two out of three games. Games are played to 11 points, but must continue until one player or team achieves a two-point margin. Teams and players will not be seeded. Brackets will be determined by a random draw. Any event (age class) which does not have at least two entries (teams or individuals) may be combined with another division or cancelled at the discretion of the Event Director.
