The Dental Assistant program increases students employability and provides students who decide to become a Dental Hygienist an easier transition into a dental hygiene school. Sandra Bristow, PHS Health Science Teacher, provides instruction to students in a hands-on setting, where they learn a wide range of job skills from chairside assisting, making impressions of teeth, and procedures for x-rays. Thanks to Jay Herrington, DDS, Judd Langley, DDS, Fred Hernandez, DDS, and Thomas Witte, DDS who have personally trained students within their offices. I would also like to thank Rhonda Anderson, Registered Dental Assistant, for teaching students how to x-ray patients. So far eight students have earned their Dental Assistant Certification and six students are studying to complete their certification. Congratulations to these students for their accomplishment. Wildcat Weekly from the Superintendent: Jason Marshall Palestine High School Business Management students earned valuable business and hospitality experience last Friday as they assisted with the Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament. The tournament, which was held at the Wildcat Golf Course, provided PHS students the opportunity to learn many aspects of working at a golf course. The students greeted the Chamber members as they arrived for the 18 hole golf tournament, and the students did an outstanding job throughout the day to ensure that each of the golfers had a first class golf experience. Thank you to the Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce for choosing the Wildcat Golf Course for their tournament, and for helping provide Palestine ISD students with a real-life work experience.
