SUCCESS WITH HONOUR PARENT INFORMATION SHEET ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS It is expected that all of our student athletes will maintain a satisfactory academic performance. Punctual attendance of all classes is expected and required. Unexcused absences or discipline issues in classes may result in suspension from the team. JUNIOR AGE The athlete must have been born in 2001 or 2002, and must be in Grade 9 or 10. EXPERIENCE No previous football experience is necessary. In fact, the majority of players have no previous experience before joining the program. A desire to work hard and improve is all that is required. COST The total cost to play is $325.00. This provides the player with: a game jersey, practice jersey, compression shirt, t-shirt, shorts, game socks, 5 in 1 girdle, set of knee pads, a protective mouth guard, a football banquet ticket and exhibition transportation fees. Payment is to be cash or cheque payable to Lorne Park Secondary School. PRACTICE SCHEDULE Pre-season Camp will run 9 11am, Tuesday, August 30 to Thursday, September 1. Tryouts will start Tuesday, September 6 th. Team practice will be every weekday after school from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Attendance at practice is mandatory. However we don t want to deny a player due to outside school commitments, so If an accommodation is needed, please contact me. GAMES A printed schedule will be provided once it is finalized by ROPSSAA. It will also be posted on lorneparkfootball.com. FOOTBALL BANQUET Our annual banquet will be held on Thursday, December 1 at Lorne Park. Players tickets are part of the playing fees. Friends and family may purchase tickets for $25.00. You may pay for additional tickets with the player fee payment. LORNE PARK FRIENDS OF FOOTBALL This is our program s Booster Club. If you are interested in helping out this coming year, please contact Wendy Musselman at wendy_musselman@yahoo.ca. The support offered by the Booster Club is vital for the success of the program so we would be grateful for any assistance you can provide. LORNE PARK SECONDARY SCHOOL Thursday, June 23, 2016 Dear Parent/Guardian: As an extension of the extra-curricular program, your son/daughter has joined Lorne Park s Junior Boys Football Team. This activity is under the supervision of Mr. Moynihan, Mr. English and Mr. VanAlstine. This is a contact sport which will require your son/daughter to participate in voluntary pre-season camp (August 30 - September 1), mandatory try-outs (September 6 9), exhibition games and if on the team, to leave school property during the 2016 season to fields in Mississauga and Brampton. The 2016 schedule will be provided when it is finalized by ROPSSAA. Early equipment sign-out for incoming Grade 9 s and new Grade 10 players is on Monday, August 29 from 9:00am 11:00am in the Football Equipment Room at the southwest corner of the building. Students unable to make the early session may sign equipment out starting on Tuesday, September 6. Transportation will be by bus or taxi. The cost per pupil for the Football team is $325.00. The cheque is to be made out to Lorne Park Secondary School and for September 6, 2016. Players will receive: a Game-Day jersey, practice jersey, team t-shirt & shorts, long sleeve compression shirt, game socks, belt, 5 pad girdle, knee pads, mouthguard. The cheque also helps cover program equipment expenses. There is also a $325.00 equipment deposit cheque required. This cheque is to be made out for November 1, 2016. It will NOT be cashed unless borrowed equipment is lost. The excursions are an extension of the regular school program. Accordingly, expectations regarding student behaviour are the same as those for the regular school day. While we do not anticipate any problems, any serious breach of expected conduct on the part of a student may result in that student being sent home at the expense of the parent and further disciplinary action may be imposed. Student information (parent contact numbers, medical information, emergency contact numbers etc.) contained on your child s school records will be taken along on the excursion and used only in the event of an emergency. Please ensure that all student information regarding address, phone numbers and medical or health concerns is upto-date. We are looking forward to an exciting and educationally meaningful excursion. Otherwise, the cell phone may not be used for any communication or for taking any photographs unless permission is granted by a staff supervisor. Posting photographs or images on the Internet (including social network sites) without adult permission violates the school's code of conduct. I/We understand and acknowledge that neither the Peel District School Board nor the School will accept responsibility for any money not refunded by the excursion service provider should I/we subsequently decide not to permit my/our child to travel on the excursion.
