PREMIER INTERMEDIATE HURLING COUNTY QUARTER FINAL Valley Rovers 0.17 V s Mallow 0.21 Valleys exited the Premier Intermediate Hurling championship on Saturday night last in Pairc Ui Rinn when they were defeated by Mallow. A poor first half cost Valleys dearly as they went in at half time trailing by 11 points to 5. This was a margin they could never recover. In the 2 nd half Valleys show great fight reducing the deficit to 2 points on 2 occasions (20 th and 26 th Min). However it wasn t to be and Mallow ran out winners on a score line Valley Rovers 0.17 to Mallow 0.21. Team : Willie Burke Eoin Delaney, Tim Cummins, Joe Lynch William Hurley, Noel O Donovan, David Lynch Sean O Regan, Tomas O Brien Chris O Leary, Jack Walsh, Gary Farrell Aaron Lyons, Eoin O reilly, John Cottrell Subs: Darragh Looney, Cormac Desmond & Kevin Canty seemed an arduous task, the girls got stuck in from the start and took the game to their hosts. Playing with a slight breeze in the first half the valleys started the score board ticking over with a string of well taken points by Cliona Riordan, Orla O Sullivan, Roisin O Sullivan, Laoise Collins and Nicole Callanan before Roisin struck for a well taken goal. Valleys retired at half-time with a 1.9 to 0.4 lead. Mallow ramped up the assault on our goal at the start of the second half and banged in a goal and a point. However, powered by the excellent Carol Cremin in defence, and goalie Jane Mulvihill who brought off an outstanding save, Valleys steadied the ship and when Orla O Sullivan and Caoimhe McCarthy slotted home 2 further goals, Valleys ran out deserved victors on a score line of Valley Rovers 3.11 to Mallow 1.09 LADIES FOOTBALL UNDER 16 s Valley Rovers 3-11 Mallow 1.09 On Saturday last, Valleys u16 ladies footballers made the long journey to Mallow to take on the hosts in the county quarter-final. Golden Goal 2017 Valley Rovers Ladies Football & Camogie Clubs Dear Club Member, Both clubs have once again joined forces to conduct our main joint fundraising event for the year the Golden Goal ticket event. The winning ticket prize is 500.00 and this year, it could be you!!!!!!!!! Last year, thanks to your support we had the best year ever and the clubs raised over 3,000 each, to fund much needed development of the club including, jerseys, training equipment, pitch development and contributions to the various clubs and organisations we need to make each year. The funds raised from this event are vital for each club to remain as viable organisations providing a wonderful service to the players and their families. This year, we have decided to allocate each family a set number of tickets, which we are kindly asking to be sold in full. Tickets are priced as follows: 1 Ticket 2.00 3 Tickets 5.00 Packet of 21 Tickets - 35.00 (where eldest daughter is Under 9 or older) Packet of 12 Tickets - 20 (where your eldest daughter is Under 8) Very simply we are selling scratch cards with a time on it (example 12 minutes and 43 seconds) and if the first goal comes in at this exact time in the All Ireland Mens Hurling final on 3 th September 2017, the winner gets 500!!. If the ticket is unclaimed the 500 goes to charity. We are asking that each family take a packet of tickets to sell to colleagues at work, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, clients, neighbours, the post man, your bank manager, your dentist anyone!!! So 21 tickets could easily be just 7 sales of 5 each. IMPORTANT!!! If, in the unlikely event that you are unable to sell all of your tickets, please please please return all unsold tickets to your team mentor/coach BEFORE Friday25 th August, to allow them to be sold. Otherwise they may be recorded as sold and the money will be due. We are asking every team member and their families to support this vital activity for both clubs, who give such pleasure and wonderful memories for all in the parish. Please don t hesitate to contact each chairperson below or any committee member of each club if you have any queries. Yours sincerely, John Murphy Chairperson Valley Rovers Ladies Football Leo Flynn Chairperson Valley Rovers Camogie Club Page 3 of 6
