1 Introduction 1.1 Use Following execution, the thermostat with protection intrinsically safe «i» and protection by enclosure «t» type AMTXs-Ex can be used as : - TW Temperature controller - TB Temperature limiter It regulates and supervises thermal processes. Gas zone, they can only be connected to certified intrinsically safe equipment and which can be used in Zone 0, Zone 1 and Zone 2. Dust zone, protection mode "t" allows the use of material zones 20, 21 and 22. If this thermostat is used on a hazardous area, must be respected a provisions mounting and the functioning of devices in this type of area. The severing or buckling of capillary of thermostat with shaped mounting AMTXs-Exf (only capillary) cause permanent device failure! 1.2 Special conditions for safe use For storage and until mounting, the devices must remain in their original packaging in order to be protected from dust and other external attacks. They must be stored in a dry and clean environment. It s essential to put carefully the device in its original packaging. Storage temperature range : -50 et +50 C. Above or below these limits, the device could be damaged. The surface temperature must not exceed the value indicated on the product. Avoid falls and the locations where the material can undergo mechanical shock. Avoid vibrations, or by fixing the housing on a stable walled, or using a damper assembly (silents blocs ). The minimum radius of curvature of the capillary is of 5 mm. Avoid installation near sources of heat or excessive sunlight, to limit the effects of condensation night. 1.3 Operating conditions Position : indifferent Type : permanent Temperature range of housing : -40 C Temperature of utilisation of the thermostatic element with or without reinforcement : - Copper capillary and et copper bulb : -50 to +200 C - Copper capillary and stainless steel bulb : -50 to +300 C - Stainless steel capillary and stainless steel bulb : -50 to +300 C 5

1.5 Description These thermostats function on the principle of fluid expansion. The variation of temperature causes a variation of volume in the measuring system (consisting of a probe, and a capillary membrane) which acts on the switch by a transmission lever mechanical. 1.6 Designation EN 60079-0 (2009) / IEC 60079-0 (2011) EN 60079-11 (2007) / IEC 60079-11 (2011) EN 60079-31 (2009) / IEC 60079-31 (2008) 1.7 Safety In case of breaking of the measuring system, the filling liquid can escape. 4 Installation 4.1 Regulation and notes Please to respect, when making electrical connections in an explosive atmosphere, the requirements are : - The electrical connection must only be carried out by qualified personnel. - The choice of cable, for installation or electrical connection of the device, must respected regulation in force. - Connect the device to the ground terminal on the ground, with the protective conductor. The driver must have the same section as the supply line. Put the lines of grounded star, to a point of common connected to the supply voltage by the protective conductor. Do not loop the ground, that is to say not to them from one instrument to another. - Incorrect settings on the thermostat can affect the proper operation of the process or cause damage. That is why the adjustment should only be performed by qualified personnel. So please observe the relevant safety rules. - Accessories mounted on the walls of the shells such as cable glands, plugs fitted by you must be of a type certified or compatible with material certification. - A installation must verify that the hardware is suitable for operating conditions: degree of sealing envelopes. - In the case of particularly corrosive atmosphere, provide additional protection. Any operation is not performed in accordance with manufacturers instructions, it emerges from any responsibility. 4.2 Electrical connection - Prepare the cables using the appropriate tools. - Pass the connecting cable through the cable gland. - Make the connection according to the diagram engraved in the cover. - The cable must be installed in a fixed manner (cable gland tight on cable). 12

5 Settings 5.1 Adjusting the limit - Open the case. - Set the limit value with the setpoint button (5). 5.2 Comportement in case of failure Temperature controller: in case of failure of the measuring system (leakage), the electrical circuit is open. 6 Specifications 6.1 Switching function Temperature controller TW If the temperature at the probe exceeds the setpoint, the transmission mechanism actuates the microswitch which causes the opening or closing of the electrical circuit. When the temperature is again lower than the set point (less switching differential), the microswitch returns to its resting position. Temperature limiter TB When the temperature exceeds the setpoint, the electrical circuit is open and the microswitch is mechanically locked. When the temperature is lower than the set temperature less approximately 10% of calibrated span, it is possible to unlock manually after removal of the cover. 14

6.3 Electrical connection to intrinsically safe, protection mode Ex «i» The equipment used in hazardous areas contains only intrinsically safe circuits. In a normal situation and in case of failure due to a short circuit, no flammable spark occurs or when devices do not heat at the surface beyond the class defined temperature (see also EN 60079-11). For an electric circuit can be defined as intrinsically safe must all devices that are in the circuit are designed with intrinsically safe and certified. Then check that the interconnection of intrinsically safe devices also meets the requirements of an electrical circuit intrinsically safe. Interconnection itself does not guarantee a intrinsically safe circuit. It must make a calculation of the intrinsic safety loop. To prove of intrinsic safety, electrical limits must conform to certificates for equipment. Conditions are verified by comparing the permissible limits of electrical equipment : Electrical equipment «i» Tension (U) Ui Cuurrent (I) li Power (W) Pi Inductance (mh) Li (+Lc câble) Capacity (µf) Ci (+Lc câble) Associated equipement Uo Io So Lo Co 6.4 Use in explosive atmospheres due to the presence of dust Consider the following values for use in explosive atmosphere due to the presence of dust: For all area : The surface temperature of the electronic equipment must not increase shall not increase so that the dust as cloud or layer, can be ignited. This is possible when the following conditions are respected : Dust as cloud For the prevention of inflammation of dust atmospheres, must limit the maximum temperature of the surface. It must be less than the lower of the two values whether 2/3 on the temperature auto-inflammation of dust cloud considered. Dust layer Surface on which it is not possible to avoid dangerous incandescent dust deposition, the surface temperature must not exceed the incandescent temperature under 75K. In case of upper layer to 5 mm, a reduction greater of the temperature is necessary. If the dust is present in both the cloud and the layer, as is often the case, the most unfavourable case. Remark : for the term we use area, the casing containing electrical equipment. 16

7 Maintenance Our thermostats require no operation of maintenance or repair In case of dysfunction, the device must be dismantled and send to our factory in order to be repaired or replaced. The degree of protection of the envelope must be permanently filled for this purpose, the packing seals must be maintained in good condition. Before working on equipment, must scrupulously follow the instructions on safety. Equipment for explosive atmospheres ATEX must be implemented only by qualified personnel in the field. 17
