The Best Day of My Life By Bella Today I went to Cobb & Co Museum for an excursion. I learnt about what Aboriginals did to live. Then we went to the history room. Then we went to the toilet. Then we went for morning tea. Then we had a run around. Then we went to play hop scotch and see the blacksmith shop. Then we played when we had a piece of rope into circles. And we had to throw it around a piece of wood. Then we went to a factory and I saw a coach that was burnt. Then we went to a Chinese room. There were two sparkly dresses and two dragons. One was red and black and the other dragon was gold and white. And there were two Chinese statues. They were really creepy to me. And I saw some saddles while we were going out. Then we saw coaches and we got cards and we had to find our coaches. There were three different colours. Mine was bronze. Another colour was yellow and green. I already knew mine so I got to build a puzzle. But we had to go to the next room that was the play area. We got to play on the playground. At the playground my favourite part was going on the horse. Then we had to go back to the bus to go back to school. I had a great time.
My Cobb & Co Adventure by Zaine When we went to Cobb & Co we went on a bus. We played hop scotch, I saw the blacksmith, we played on a coach, and I played quoits, we played Who Am I?. You get a card with clues on it then there are talking boxes you have to listen to, to get the clue right. Where the Museum is used to be the showgrounds. There were no rides there and now it s a big field with a couple of windmills. Then we had morning tea. Because we didn t play we ran to a tree and back. After morning tea we swapped guides. We went to the Chinese display. My favourite thing was the buddas and the clothes. My great great great uncle was one of the white settlers. My Mum told me that. The roof we were under was called a shingle roof. There were 1400 bits of wood and when it rains the wood puffs up. That is why the gaps seal up and when it s sunny they stop puffing up. Then we got on the bus and went back to school.
Cobb and Co Museum By Regan Classes 2/3 FS, 3F and 3V went to Cobb and Co. Museum on Tuesday 12 th April to learn about Toowoomba s history. First we were sorted into two groups to explore the museum. Next we went into a section of the museum and learnt about how the Indigenous Australians survived in the Australian bush. One of their games was similar to tic-tactoe. We learnt that they used weapons such as spears, boomerangs, clubs, stone axes and shields for protection and baskets for gathering water and food. They used grinding stones and an ochre rock to create a paste for their art work. Thirdly we learnt about the Leslie Brothers who were the first people to bring sheep to the Darling Downs. The squatters were the people who claimed areas of land to settle on. We learnt that Mr Groom was the first Toowoomba Mayor who established Queens Park and that he worked in court and was an early convict. Lastly we had fun learning to play olden day games. After that we had to find the mystery characters connected to the wagons and carriages of the early days. We had so much fun learning about the olden days at Cobb and Co.

Cobb and Co Museum by Delaney When we went to Cobb and Co there were lots of things to see but one of my favourite things were the tools that the Aboriginals used like boomerangs, stone axes and clubs. They used them to hunt. Every three years they had a festival. They put ochre on their faces and they ate bunya nuts. When we went to the playroom I went on the horse ride. It was made of plastic but the saddle and reins were made of leather. In the factory there was a burnt coach that was my favourite thing. The black smith shop is attached to the factory. When the man came out of the black smith shop we got to hold the horse shoes. They were not heavy. When he was making them it made lots of noise. When we went into the Chinese shop there were two dragons. One was red and black and one was gold and white. There was also a dragon. It was gold, red and white. It was only a puppet. When we had lunch we had it where the Toowoomba showgrounds used to be. There were big fans there. The fans were there because a company used to show them to all the people that were there. After morning tea we played a game and we had to try and throw a rope ring around a piece of wood. Before that we played hopscotch. To play the game we had to throw a rubber circle on to a square and hop to that square to get it again. It was lots of fun. We also played Who Am I?. Mine had a one wheel one horse and we all got it right. The roof that we were under had 14000 bits of wood all nailed down overlapping each other. I had a great time.
