Dear Peninsula Soccer Club Families and Community, Welcome to the June edition of Peninsula Youth Soccer Clubs newsletter. With the spring season winding down we wanted to let you all know about some of the happenings in the club. We look forward to continued success both on and off the field. After the first couple of days of tryouts for both boys and girls we have had more than 50 new players come out to showcase their skills, looking to join one of the Bay Areas best community based clubs. Of the many new players, we had more than 10 players trying out

for the 2010 age group, which will assure the forming of the newest team in the club the 2010B Titans. The Titans will be coached by Brian King, who in August, will be beginning his 9 th season at Peninsula. With another round of tryouts scheduled for this week, we expect the number of attendees to rise and final rosters to be formed in the coming weeks. Peninsula Soccer Club Newsletter June 2017 Galaxy Blue Claims #1 Ranking! NFL Coach Herm Edwards once famously said, You play to win the game. The Peninsula Galaxy 99 Boys team has taken this saying to heart. They have finished their Spring season as Champions again. This marks the 4th league championship in a row for the Galaxy. They have won the State Premier League twice, as well as the California Regional League, and the NorCal Champions League. Accumulating an astonishing record of 59-8-6 over the past 3 seasons. This has earned them the number 1 ranking in the State of California and also in the entire West Region. Their National ranking has also jumped to number 7, all marking the highest rankings ever achieved by a Peninsula Youth Soccer Club team. These boys have come such a long way it is almost hard to believe. Going from being ranked 144 to number 1 is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and loyalty they have shown to the club and each other. Today, with so many kids and parents ready to jump ship and move to a new club in an instant, it is refreshing to see a group of boys that stayed together for so many years. Instead of losing players we were able to attract some of the top players in the area. I couldn t more proud of these young men. They are out there

Peninsula Soccer Club Newsletter June 2017 representing PYSC the right way and hopefully our younger teams will follow in their footsteps and play together for as long as possible. Coach Mike Sharabi The Galaxy will continue their historic run with a trip to Seattle, WA to compete in US Youth Soccer s Regional tournament. Following that they will head to sunny San Diego to play in the prestigious Surf Cup, one of the countries top tournaments. We wish them good luck this Summer! Thunder Claim SF Evolution Cup! The Peninsula Thunder 00 Girls team has capped off a memorable season with a championship. Beating SF United FC Avalanche 2-1 in the final. This was the second final that the girls have played in the past two weeks, having lost narrowly in the State Cup Finals the week before. The girls showed a lot of resilience, bouncing back to claim the trophy on Memorial Day. The Thunder finished their spring season in 3rd

place in the NorCal Gold division. They will look to keep their winning ways going as they push to play Premier in the near future. Peninsula Boys Player of the Month Peninsula would like to congratulate Kevin Marroquin Mayen from the 2004 Impact White on being selected as the Boys player of the month! Kevin is a quiet kid but what he lacks for words off the field, he makes up for with goals on the field. He gets his inspiration for Ronaldo and the rest of the players from his favorite team Real Madrid. When Kevin is not playing soccer, Kevin is skating with his twin brother and friends or going camping with his family. Kevin aspires to play professionally one day and looks forward to the weekends so he can score more goals. Coach Joe Rousseau

Peninsula Girls Player of the Month Peninsula would like to congratulate Chianti Raddavero- known as "Curly" for being selected at the PYSC s Girls Player of the Month! Curly plays for 05 Crush White Curly loves animals and enjoys volunteering at the farm. She loves soccer, volleyball, and softball. She's also a youth referee. She's inspired by Alex Morgan, and hopes to become a strong role model like her. Her favorite foods are burritos, enchiladas, and salad. She likes to work out, cook, play at the beach, and walk her chicken. She is now secretary of our 4H club and is a member of student government at Ralston. She has an older brother and a younger sister who both play soccer. "Curly has shown great improvement over the last few months in her technical and tactical skills. She has also shown great leadership on and off the field. By making sure not miss any practices. If she ever has to miss due to softball practice she takes the initiative to join another team's practice. Curly has also been flexible and played different positions all season long without ever complaining. She brings great energy and is always ready to learn at every practice" (Coach George Pineda).

Peninsula Coach of the Month Peninsula honors Brett Force with the Coach of the Month Award! Coach Force has just completed his first season with PYSC and his teams have felt the immediate impact of having him as their leader. The 2001G Thunder finished off a successful season. After losing their first game the team went on to be undefeated in their remaining league games. His 2003B Avalanche showed some massive individual improvements as Brett worked a lot on ball mastery and the boys growth technically has been evident. 2005B Force has had a solid season at the Silver level and will be moving up to Gold in the fall. Brett has high hopes that these boys will be playing at the premier level in the years to come. Brett truly embodies everything we want in a coach at Peninsula. His professionalism, commitment, and ability to teach are among some of the best I ve seen at the Club level. It took some convincing to get him here, but we couldn t be happier with his performance

and are looking forward to watching him continue to help push our club in the right direction! Mike Sharabi- Boys Director of Coaching Thank you for taking the time to read PYSC s newsletter! Your directors of coaching, Mike Sharabi and Val Henderson
