under the gaydar...from 30 by and it was already the 4 th of July long weekend. On Thursday night, I went to Todd Woodruff s 40 th birthday party at the Four Seasons. There were many wellwishers and we ushered him into a new decade. But the highlight of the night was when Ms. Rhonda Roget came out and did her rendition of Marilyn Monroe singing Happy Birthday Mr. President. Scandalous. On Friday, some friends and I kind of bar hopped after a delicious dinner at Noodle and Pie on Magazine Street Uptown. If you have not been, make it a point to check this place out. We then stopped at Tulane Avenue Bar to see the singing duo of Vanessa Carr and Sydney McMath who lit up the place with their vocals. From inspirational and fun to rock and roll, they covered a gamut of fun tunes for guests. We then went to Paulie s for a nightcap and got our groove on with the Essence crowd in town. Dancing till the wee hours, this new bar has really remodeled nicely. Saturday was all about the red, white and blue. I hauled my lily white butt to Elizabeth Bouvier s Chalmansion for her 4 th of July swimming party soiree, drank myself a blue streak and ended up red faced with embarrassment from the night s antics. But all I have to say, I was not the worse and what happens in Chalmette better stay there. All kidding aside, it was a great gathering of friends to eat barbecue, have lots of liquor drinks, swim, watch the fireworks show (which was directly across the street perfect view) and enjoy each other s company as we celebrate our country s independence. Good times were definitely had by all. I ended my crazy two weeks with the Southern Decadence Brunch on Sunday at GrandPre s. The food was delectable especially the stewed chicken thanks to Philip and Rip and Marsha s Frittata. It was a relaxing way to end the long weekend, surrounded by friends helping support the Decadence Parade and their charities. So until next week, stay Decadent.
