Coventry Irish Society is Moving to the New Central Credit Union Smithford Way Coventry New Central Credit Union (NCCU) have generously offered to help the Coventry Irish Society after hearing about the Society s dilemma of having only one months- notice to vacate their current premises at Coventry Point. The NCCU has contacted the Society with an offer of help to relocate to the Society s services to the NCCU in Smithford Way. The move that will be for around 12 months will allow the Society time to organise a more permanent home. Alastair Wilkinson NCCU CEO said We are keen to protect the specialist services that the Coventry Irish Society provides to the local Irish community. The Charity are welcome at the NCCU for 12 months to allow them time to decide on their long-term future. We hope the move can be beneficial to both organisations. Simon McCarthy, Coventry Irish Society manager said We are delighted to have this offer of help from NCCU. The NCCU provides an outstanding service to the community and helps many vulnerable people. As a long-term member of NCCU I urge Coventry people to join and support the vital work NCCU is doing. The move is sure to please the founder of the NCCU, Irishman Pat Walsh and his wife Julia that have worked so hard to make the NCCU a great success. The move will mean that the Society will be able to continue its current service level. This includes an advice and information service from Monday to Friday, the Society s Lunch club, Carer s Group, Dementia Group and Befriending Services that will continue to run at venues around the city. Hopefully many of Coventry Irish Society s members and supporters will join the NCCU as a result of the move Coventry Irish Society is closed from March 5 th and will reopen again at 10am on March 12 th at NCCU, 41 Smithfield Way, Coventry, CV1 1FY.
