On behalf of the PTA, we just wanted to thank all of the parents who baked, delivered treats, and volunteered for our treat carts during Teacher Appreciation Week. We also wanted to say a special thank you to the FLYING BISCUIT for their donation of hot, warm biscuits for our teachers on Monday morning. The teachers all enjoyed delicious biscuits, muffins, fruit and yogurt and more from Monday s breakfast carts. Tuesday our snack cart was filled with homemade treats from parents and Wednesday s cart contained trail mix, chips, candy bars, chocolate and homemade goodies. Please remember to pick up any medication (prescription or nonprescription) your child may have in the clinic by 4:00 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2017. Any medication left in the clinic at the end of that day will be discarded. Also, remember that a new Medication Authorization form and/or Health Care Plan for your child will have to be completed by you and your physician for the 2017-2018 school year. Page 3 8th Grade AMMS Carnival Themed Dance Attention 8 th graders! Come to the biggest party of the year and your LAST at Autrey Mill! The 8 th grade dance and party will be on Wednesday, May 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This is the night before the last day of school. This year s dance party will be IN THE GYM! The dress is party attire non-formal dresses for girls and button down shirts for the guys. Please observe the dress code. Lost and Found Items in front rotunda until May 24th! Our theme this year is CARNIVAL! We are bringing a carnival into the gym with DJ Melvin on the stage, a midway of carnival games, green screen photos, carnival entertainment and pizza, popcorn, and cotton candy. There will also be a TRAIN outside with rides for all! There will be lots of surprises, so you don t want to miss it! At the end of the evening, we will show the 8 th grade farewell DVD made by your teachers. The dance is FREE to 8 th graders. No need to buy a ticket or bring money. Only 8 th graders at AMMS may attend. No friends or family members/parents, please. It s CARNIVAL time!
Page 4 Front Office Tidbit Did you know we are all going to enjoy our Summer Break? Have a safe and happy summer with your students! Moving Over The Summer? Summer is often a time when families move and transfer their children to another school. If this is something that your family is planning, please let the Counseling Office know. There is not a formal withdrawal process once the school year ends, but it is helpful to know which students are not returning and where they are going. Of course the student s records will be sent once a Request for Records is received from the new school. End of the Year Textbook Returns Any students who have checked out textbooks during the year should return them to the Media Center as soon as they are no longer needed. The final day to turn them in is Wednesday, May 24th. Any lost textbooks must be paid for by the parent or guardian at current prices prior to that day.
Page 5 ipad Checks and Information Did you know? Students are expected to come to school with their ipad charged to 80% (at least) every day. The ipad plays an important role during instruction, therefor it is important that it is ready for use at the start of the day. Make sure you have your ipad fully charged for testing. ipad Information: As we near the end of the school year, we need to make sure student ipads are ready for testing and end of year collection. Please take time at home to do the following: Update the Apple ipad ios to 10.2.1 (or higher) Back up any work or pictures to the student s Google Drive account Locate the Apple ipad charger and cord (10w Power Block & Lightning Cable) Upcoming Dates: ipad bags now on sale in the school store. Replacement bags cost $10.00 each. NOTE: 6th & 7th Grade are required to turn in an ipad bag when ipads are collected. The ipad bag must have two working handles and a working zipper. Page 7 JCHS Girls Lacrosse Congratulations Jr. Gladiators Girls Lacrosse Jr. Select team for winning the NSSL championship for the spring season! Jr. Gladiators would like to invite rising 4 th - 8 th grade girls interested in playing lacrosse to join our program. The fall season is recreational with placement on teams based upon grade level 2017-2018 school year. Fall season begins August 14. Practice will occur twice a week with games on weekends (Saturdays and/or Sundays, depending on schedule). Johns Creek Jr. Gladiators Girls Lacrosse will open registration for the fall season on June 8, 2017 to all girls entering 4 th through 8 th grades who live in the JCHS zoning area. Late registration begins on August 10th. This is a great time for new players to begin the sport. The last day to register is August 15th.
