Margaret Sheffield Memorial Fund The late Margaret Sheffield was District Commissioner of the Southdown Hunt East branch for 24 years, based at Woodley House, South Road, Wivelsfield Green, after joining the committee in 1972. To keep alive the work she did for young people the Fund was established in 2001 and is a registered charity. The Fund has limited resources which are used to help distressed children (many from broken homes) regain their self confidence through horse riding or association with horses and ponies. Donations to MSMF, Woodley House, South Road, Wivelsfield Green, RH17 7QS will be gratefully received and will be used to give other youngsters a helping hand. PAPER NUMBERS will be given. BRING OWN NUMBER BIBS or BUY BIBS FROM US on the day. ONE DAY EVENTS RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1. The judges decision is final. 2. No claim can be entertained by the organisers for any injury, loss or damage caused to, or suffered by, any horse, pony, competitor, onlooker, attendant or other person, vehicle or any property in connection with or arising from this event, whether or not said injury, loss or damage is caused by the negligence of the organisers, their servants or agents. 3. It is a condition of entry that competitors are either a member of the Pony Club, a BHS affiliated Riding Club or other equestrian organization providing them with public liability insurance, or that their horse has public liability insurance cover. 4. The organisers reserve the right to alter the timing of the phases. They also reserve the right to refuse any entry without giving a reason and to divide or alter classes as necessary. 5. This event is run under Pony Club Eventing Rules 2017. 6. No jewellery is allowed for safety reasons, other than a wristwatch, a wedding ring, a stock pin worn horizontally or a tie clip. It is recommended that stock pins are removed for cross country. 7. No horse or pony under 4 years of age may be ridden. 8. No horse/pony may compete in more than one class. 9. Correct dress must be worn at all times. Riding hats, with chinstrap fastened, must be worn when mounted. They must conform to Pony Club regulations., PC members hats must be tagged. Long sleeves, body protectors and medical armbands are compulsory for the cross-country phase. In the interests of safety, the organisers reserve the right to eliminate any competitor who breaches these rules. Body protectors must conform to BETA 2009 Level 3 (Purple Label). 10. There will be no refund of entry unless a Doctor s or Vet s certificate is produced. If the event is cancelled, 3 from the entry fee will be retained for administrative expenses and the balance will be refunded only on receipt of an s.a.e. within 10 days of the event. Entries will be strictly limited in each class. 11. Objections, if any, can be lodged only by a competitor or by a competitor s parent or guardian. The objection must be in writing and accompanied by a deposit of 20 within half-an-hour of the occurrence which gave rise to it or, where the eligibility of a competitor is concerned, not after the finish of the class. The deposit will be forfeited if the objection is over-ruled. 12. NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED AT WIVELSDEN FARM. 13. Pony Club members who have not yet attained their B Test may wear spurs only on production of written permission from their District Commissioner. 14. The organisers have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these precautions to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable care to avoid accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organisers, officials and stewards. 15. No outside assistance is allowed at any time unless explicitly permitted in the schedule. 16. Any competitor having three refusals at a cross-country fence may continue but must give way to other competitors. Riders must also give way when being overtaken. 17. Hat and jacket should be worn at Prizegiving. 5
