Our signature hole - The 13th The Golf Course The golf course is entirely private and believed to be the only private one of its kind in the country. It has a magnificent position overlooking the Coly Valley and is a wonderful test of golf with spectacular views from each of its 18 holes. The course is a par 73 at 6,117 yards and prides itself on the longest hole in the British Isles, a massive 740 yard par 6. There are four par 3s, ten par 4s and three par 5s featuring holes of real interest and challenge. The par 5s and par 6 are genuine 3/4 shot holes and are not merely long, but require a well-planned strategy. The average golfer will use every club in his/her bag and be challenged to play every kind of shot. In this way it is a true test of golf as well as being a uniquely beautiful experience. The course was laid out in the summer of 2004. It is not Wentworth, but players will discover that it is a beautiful and entertaining course that provides a great test of golf during a peaceful and tranquil walk through nature. Some comments made:- A very enjoyable experience and a great test of golf. (Andrew Thompson, PGA golf professional) The most interesting course I ve ever played. (Julian Grindler, 10 handicap) The setting of the course is outstanding, a greatly enjoyable challenge for golfers of all ability. (Ian Jeeves, 22 handicap) The best course in East Devon. (Martin Fallis 28 handicap)

Course Summary Front Nine Hole 1 Keepers 315 yards par 4 An easy and gentle start, but for the adventurous an opportunity to drive the green by taking a line across the trees. A real birdie opportunity. Hole 2 the Wood 305 yards par 4 Where 2 excellent shots are required to reach an elevated green with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Hole 3 Iwona s Garden 95 yards par 3 Here we enter a different world, and play to a green nestling among the trees way below us. Hole 4 The Dell 315 yards par 4 The tee shot needs to be well positioned, because the second, played probably with only a sand iron, is the most challenging shot on the course, and played to an intriguing U-shaped green below. Hole 5 Amen Corner 602 yards par 5 After an exhilarating downhill drive, the second shot needs to be long enough to give the best approach to a delightful green where a most challenging putt awaits. Hole 6 Robbie s Reward 410 yards par 4 It s a question of how much you dare from the tee. A long well-placed drive gives a much easier second shot to a splendid arena. Hole 7 Hay bales 523 yards par 5 Another opportunity to open one s shoulders and hit your drive for miles downhill, with the real possibility of reaching the green in 2. A birdie awaits. Hole 8 Secret 320 yards par 4 Index 1 and deservedly so. The drive needs to be perfectly positioned, as the approach shot is most challenging. Definitely gives home advantage to those who know the course. Hole 9 Brambles 110 yards par 3 Only a wedge to a delightful hidden green. The Crater www.jackson-stops.co.uk

Course Summary Back Nine Hole 10 Daffodils 155 yards par 3 A challenging tee shot which needs to carry the hedge in front of an interesting two-level green. Most would walk off happily with a 4. Hole 11 Roller-Coaster 306 yards par 4 The second shot is played across the trees to a green where putting skills are paramount. Glorious views. Hole 12 Road Hole 259 yards par 4 The drive is nothing like as difficult as it appears from the tee, and the second is played to the tiniest of greens. Birdies abound. Hole 13 Ski Slope 301 yards par 4 Our signature hole. The tee is a huge distance above the green, and the views are to die for! It s driveable, and everyone will have a go. Hole 14 Round the Corner 515 yards par 5 A real three-shotter with glorious views. A most interesting hole. A par feels like a birdie. Hole 15 The Brook 401 yards par 4 Another opportunity to blaze away with your driver from a hugely elevated tee. The reward for putting the drive in the right place is that you don t have to negotiate a beautiful and majestic oak tree. Hole 16 Big Tree 252 yards par 4 The same majestic oak. Definitely drivable, simply a question of risk and reward. Hole 17 The Crater 193 yards par 3 We arrive at the crater after an exciting drive to an enchanting green. All but the longest will be hitting a wood. Hole 18 Dovecot 740 yards par 6 The longest hole in the British Isles. Not just long, but extremely interesting. Four excellent shots will be needed to reach the green. How about a birdie 5! A Great test of Golf

Peace and tranquility Directions If coming southwards on the M5, leave it at junction 28 (for Cullompton) and follow all signs to Honiton. At Honiton High Street, turn right, and at the mini-roundabout turn left on to the A375 road towards Sidmouth. Follow it uphill for 2 miles to the Hare & Hounds public house where turn left as signed towards Farway and Seaton. After a further mile IGNORE the sharp left turn signed Farway, but take the NEXT left turn signed Southleigh and then first left signed to Farway. This narrow road descends through woodland and, near the bottom of this hill, the drive entrance of Idehill Manor is on the left, opposite a cottage. A short way down the drive, park on the left of it, opposite a small wooden footbridge which leads to the house at grid reference 177951. Navigation by postcode is to EX24 6DL. If coming from Exeter, leave in the direction of Honiton on the A30 dual carriageway and leave it (at Daisymount) as signed to Ottery St Mary on the B3174. Go clockwise through Ottery St Mary, and, on the other side, begin to leave in the direction of Sidmouth, but immediately turn left off this road where signed towards Seaton. Stay on this road towards Seaton for about 3 miles to a crossroads at the Hare & Hounds where go straight ahead as signed towards Farway and Seaton. Then follow the directions as above.
