West Bend Barton Sportsman s Club February 2016 Newsletter 2016 Monthly Member Meeting at the Clubhouse, Every 3rd Monday For the most up to date information please go to: wbbsc.com Like us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/westbendbartonsportsmansclub Entry Gate The access code is on the back of your membership card. Punch in # and the access code on the security panel, the gate will open, then close behind you. If using ranges during off hours, please sign in at the stainless steel log-in box, located near the Range. Note: if you see that the gate does not close behind you, please check if the reflector or optic lens is dirty or fouled. This does happen if there is dew and/or frost on the reflector. It s appreciated if you take a moment to wipe the lens or reflector clean. High Power Rifle Range A Range Safety Barrier is present to signal that shooters or grounds keeping & maintenance workers may be down range. This red rope with red sign boards is set between the roof columns. Please raise this barrier when going down range, or leaving the range, so as to indicate an unsafe condition. Use them for everyone s safety. In addition to the Range Safety Barrier rope, RED Warning lights and a switch have been installed in the covered high power rifle range. Please turn on the red lights when going down range when posting or removing targets. PLEASE make sure to turn off the red lights when leaving the range. First Aid Kit There is a first aid kit located on a corner post of the pavilion by the Hi-Power & Rifle Ranges. The combination number to access the kit is the same as the grounds entry gate. Please notify Rick Welch or another officer if you use any materials from this kit. It needs to be fully stocked with first aid materials. Heads Up Everyone Please ensure that your contact information (e-mail and mailing address) is updated and current. For those that are unable to make it to the monthly membership meeting, it is through e-mails, and this newsletter, that we will keep you up to date and informed. The information that was entered on your membership form is what is being used. Please contact Rob Kubowski (262) 370-8662 memberadmin@wbbsc.com if your contact information has changed. Membership Applications We are still accepting new member applications. The new members will all be working members, requiring 24 hours of work per year. The base membership cost will be $100, plus an additional $174 if none of the 24 working hours are worked. Or a portion of the 24 hours should the entire 24 hours not be completed. The rate per hour is the current minimum wage $7.25 per hour. The Bylaw, that a member of minimum two years seniority may sponsor two new member applicants per calendar year. The sponsoring member is also responsible to facilitate the applicant for the new member orientation process is to be followed. Regarding Membership Work Hours Remember that you are responsible to get your work hours done for the year. This needs to be entered and signed off in the work hours binder behind the bar in the clubhouse. If you need work hours, Sonny C. always has projects big and small for people to do, and he is usually around the club house during the day Monday - Friday. You can also see him at the Membership Meeting held on the 3rd Monday of every months at. A dry erase board has been mounted to the back of the side entry door, of the south-west equipment garage (where the pickup truck is usually parked). This board has a list of projects that need to be completed throughout the year. Work hours for 2016 are closed out on the evening of Sunday November 13th. (The last Sunday of the Sight In weekends. Saturday October 1st, Range 7am - 5pm SHOOTING DISCIPLINE AND LEAGUE INFORMATION - NEW FOR 2016: High Power Rifle UBR shooting returns to We will be utilizing UBR (Ultimate ) targets and general rules. These for fun matches will be held in conjunction with the 200 Yard Rifle matches. These matches will be initially shoot at 100 yards. To be held monthly on the third Sunday, throughout the year. Continued from previous page 1B FACTORY - Factory rifle, with any scope magnification; weight limit is 13.5 pounds; maximum.30 caliber, maximum stock forearm width of 3.0 inches. MODIFIED - Modified factory rifle, with any scope magnification; weight limit is 13.5 pounds; maximum.30 caliber, maximum stock forearm width of 3.0 inches. CUSTOM - Custom built rifle, with any scope magnification; weight limit is 13.5 pounds; maximum.30 caliber, maximum stock forearm width of 3.0 inches. UNLIMITED - Pretty much wide open, with any scope magnification; any weight over 13.5 pounds; maximum.30 caliber, one piece rests may be used. UBR targets being used are based on shooter s rifle bullet diameter. In scoring on the UBR targets there is no longer a tie breaking "X" dot like there are in other shooting disciplines. This center dot is scored as an eleven. The UBR targets have a different sized 11 dot & scoring rings for each of three rifle bullet diameters:.224 = The eleven dot is.134 inches in diameter, ten ring is.534 inches..243 = The eleven dot is.115 inches in diameter, ten ring is.515 inches..308 = The eleven dot is.050 inches in diameter, ten ring is.450 inches. Instead of a single shot fired into the scoring bullseye as done in "registered" and "approved" UBR Matches, we will be firing four rounds into each of the six scoring bullseyes, with unlimited sighters. Maximum possible total score is: 264. TRAP LEAGUE 2016 sixteen week league runs Tuesdays, March 29th - July 12th. The Captain's meeting is Tuesday March 22nd. The league banquet is scheduled for July 19th. Open practice shooting is from 2pm-4pm. shooters come first from 4pm-9pm. The public is welcome. practice round prices will be: Junior $3, Member $4, Non-Member $6. Ammo and refreshments are available for sale in clubhouse. The 2016 Fall ten week league starts Tuesday July 26th. SPORTING CLAYS & 5-STAND Jerry Ballering is the director. He and others put a huge amount of work into the clays leagues and registered shoots. Please offer a thank you if you can. Eight o clock am start time. These matches are shot off of a bench at 50 yards, using the IBR 50 Yard target. See the website and club calendars for all shoot dates. Members and public are welcome; come on out and shoot a match. $5 per gun. The target will be the NRA A-33 fired twice at 100yds, 10 rounds each for the four scoring targets and unlimited sighters. Wind flags will be provided as personal wind flags are not allowed. We will have 2 classes, F-Open and F-TR. The cost of these "just for fun" matches is $5 per gun.. 200 YARD PRONE RIFLE MATCH Held monthly on the third Sunday, throughout the year. Nine o clock am start. Except for the month of November due Sight-In. Shoot any rifle, iron sights, scope, front rest, sling, bi-pod, whatever works for you. Great opportunity to shoot your deer or sport rifle to see what she will do at 200. Added in 2015 is a seperate "AR" class. $5 per rifle. Remember your shooting mat or something for you to lay on at the firing line, as these matches are shot prone. The windows on the west side (which were covered over on the inside, were covered with siding on the outside. And all of the siding fasteners were replaced. And the entire exterior of the clubhouse was re-painted. In January of this year the roof was re-covered with new steel roofing.
