STEWARDS REPORT SINGAPORE FEBRUARY MEETING 2015 SUNDAY, 22 FEBRUARY 2015 STATE OF GOING : STRATHAYR TURF (GOOD) (SHORT COURSE A : RACE 1 TO 7) (LONG COURSE A : RACE 8 TO 11) RACE 1 [TF0261] KRANJI STAKES D SC (A) 1200M DIVISION 2 After arriving at the barrier, GOOD LOOUKEN (N Juglall) had its saddle readjusted. YOUNG LADY (A Munro), which was slow to begin, was crowded on jumping between AUREUS (M Nunes) and KISS ME (D Flores), which jumped awkwardly outwards. KING OF KOON (I Saifudin) jumped away awkwardly. Shortly after the start, ZAC COMMAND (App R Zawari) lost ground when crowded between RISING EMPIRE (TH Koh) and KING OF KOON, which was carried outwards by JET MAN (App K A Isisuhairi). Approximately 50m after the start, MY SAPPHIRE (App Y Salim) was momentarily inconvenienced when KISS ME shifted inwards. FRANCES (App R Rueven) raced wide throughout. Near the 400m, YOUNG LADY was eased to avoid the heels of KING OF KOON, which shifted outwards slightly. Approaching the 100m, URBAN LEGEND (App TK Barnabas), which was making ground quickly, had to be checked outwards away from the heels of JET MAN which shifted inwards. Over the concluding stages, URBAN LEGEND which again was making ground had to be checked after racing up onto the heels of GREENBACK (R Woodworth). Jockey Woodworth, the rider of GREENBACK, was reminded of his obligations to ride all his mounts out fully to the Finish. 1
Jockey Flores will be questioned regarding the run of KISS ME. The Farrier reported that GOOD LOOUKEN returned having cast its off-fore plate. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that the saddle on GREENBACK slipped back during the race. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on KISS ME which revealed no apparent abnormality. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on YOUNG LADY which revealed no apparent abnormality. YOUNG LADY which raced poorly will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again. App Rueven, when questioned regarding the run of FRANCES stated that he was instructed to lead, however, despite riding his mount along early, he was unable to cross runners to his inside and was caught wide. Whilst noting his explanation, App Rueven was reminded that he must show more initiative and ride in a manner so as not to arouse query. RACE 2 [TF0262] RESTRICTED MAIDEN SC (A) 1400M WEIGHT FOR AGE (2 & 3 YEARS OLD) After arriving at the barrier, both BLACK LABEL (I Saifudin) and SMOOTHLY (TH Koh) had their saddles readjusted. WELL DONE (J Powell) was slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly. BLACK LABEL was slow to begin. POSEIDON (CW Brown) and PO DE OURO (App R Zawari) bumped on jumping. Approaching the 1200m, POSEIDON commenced to race keenly and shifted in and away from SHANGHAI BUND (M Rodd). At the same time, SMOOTHLY rolled outwards, resulting in BLACK DIAMOND (App MM Firdaus) being crowded and having to be checked. Approaching the 1000m, BLACK LABEL lost ground when crowded to the inside of SMOOTHLY, which shifted inwards when being steadied off the heels of HEE S EGO (M Nunes). 2
Near the 1000m, FOREVER NICE (E Aslam) checked outwards away from the heels of PO DE OURO, which in turn had been eased off the heels of POSEIDON, which was proving difficult to settle. Shortly after, POSEIDON shifted inwards abruptly resulting in BLACK DIAMOND shifting inwards and away from that gelding and severely crowding BLACK LABEL. WELL DONE, which was following was also inconvenienced. Approaching the 800m, BLACK LABEL was again crowded to the inside of BLACK DIAMOND, which shifted inwards. WELL DONE, which was following was again inconvenienced. Making the turn into the straight, HEE S EGO eased when momentarily held up on the heels of SHANGHAI BUND. Near the 100m, BLACK DIAMOND had to be eased off the heels of WOLVERINE (N Juglall), which rolled outwards marginally. Whilst Stewards were of the opinion that it had not affected the placings, Jockey C Newitt, the rider of VALHALLA, was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out fully to the end of the race. The Farrier reported that SMOOTHLY returned having cast its near-hind plate. RACE 3 [TF0263] NOVICE SC (A) 1400M FREE HAPPY (M Nunes) raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Passing the 1000m, ACROSS THE SEA (App K A Isisuhairi) commenced to race keenly and raced up into a tight position to the inside of MIGHTY WARRIOR (CW Brown). ACROSS THE SEA then made contact with the hindquarters of BRAD (M Rodd) and was further crowded when MIGHTY WARRIOR rolled inwards marginally. Making the turn into the straight, MIGHTY WARRIOR was carried wider when FREE HAPPY shifted outwards across the heels of NO SMOKING JEFF. An Objection was lodged by Jockey Brown, the rider of third placed horse, MIGHTY WARRIOR against FREE HAPPY, being declared the second placed horse, on the grounds of interference at approximately the 450m mark. After considering all of the evidence and after deliberation, the Race Meeting Stewards were of the opinion that making the turn into the straight, FREE HAPPY shifted to the outside of NO SMOKING JEFF and bumped MIGHTY WARRIOR resulting in that gelding becoming unbalanced and carried wider and the alleged interference had affected the result of the race. The Objection was upheld and the result was amended to read: 3

RACE 4 [TF0264] INITIATION SC (A) 1600M Due to the objection in Race 3 this race was put back five minutes and rescheduled to start at 1435Hrs. LIM S MIRAGE (KB Soo) jumped inwards at the start making contact with SUPER FIVE (App Y Salim). MEGABUCKS (I Saifudin) raced wide throughout. HEE S A MAVERICK (D Flores) was held up and unable to improve between the 600m and the 400m. Approaching the turn into the straight, HEE S A MAVERICK had to be eased off the heels of APPELLATION (M Nunes), which had to be eased off the heels of ROYAL STORM (N Juglall), which commenced to give ground. Approaching the 200m, ROYAL STORM checked when racing between APPELLATION and HEE S A MAVERICK. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed. Near the 100m, MATADOR (App MM Firdaus) steadied when tightened to the inside of LA FONTANA (B Vorster), which was carried inwards by HEE S A MAVERICK when that gelding was taken inwards to obtain clear running. ORION (App R Rueven) and APPELLATION brushed passing the 50m. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on LA FONTANA which revealed no apparent abnormality. 4
RACE 5 [TF0265] CLASS 4 SC (A) 1200M ROSADO (B Vorster) jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped HADES (CW Brown). EASY MONEY (App Y Salim) and HYDRO (M Rodd) bumped on jumping. Shortly after the start, ROSADO eased to avoid the heels of HADES, which shifted outwards abruptly. Near the 1000m, ORCHARD ROAD (N Juglall) steadied to avoid the heels of GREAT SCOTT (C Newitt), which shifted inwards. HADES proved difficult to settle in the early stages. ORCHARD ROAD, EASY MONEY and ABASTOR (App TR Barnabas) all raced wide throughout. The Farrier reported that ROSADO returned having cast its off-hind plate. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on LIGN EM UP (J Powell) which revealed no apparent abnormality. RACE 6 [TF0266] KRANJI STAKES D SC (A) 1200M DIVISION 1 Acting on veterinary advice that GRAVLAX (App TR Barnabas) was found to be lame off-hind, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1502Hrs. In terms of MRA Regulation 24.2, it must be presented to an Official Veterinary Surgeon prior to being declared to race again. FAST EDITION (App K A Isisuhairi) began awkwardly and lost ground. TIM (CW Brown) and PRINCETON (App TK Barnabas) bumped on jumping. Shortly after the start, SIMPANG (D Flores) shifted outwards and blundered after clipping the heels of ROCK OF AGES (B Vorster). Making the turn into the straight, SUPER EIGHT (C Newitt) and BARNBURGH LAD (R Woodworth) were carried wider when FAST EDITION shifted outwards to improve. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on BARNBURGH LAD which revealed no apparent abnormality. Jockey Newitt reported that SUPER EIGHT was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination confirmed this. 5
RACE 7 [TF0267] OPEN BENCHMARK 67 SC (A) 2000M Shortly after the start, FELAROF (M Rodd) shifted inwards and made contact with MESHMAKER (C Newitt). Near the 1800m, MR SPIELBERG (M Nunes) and BILLY BRITAIN (CW Brown) bumped on two occasions. RISING TIDE had a tendency to race keenly and laid outwards in the early stages. Passing the 1600m, MR SPIELBERG which was racing keenly eased when crowded for room between RISING TIDE (App K A Isisuhairi) and FELAROF, which shifted inwards slightly. Near the 1300m, RISING TIDE steadied to avoid the heels of CANNON HILL (B Vorster), which shifted inwards slightly. Jockey Newitt, the rider of MESHMAKER, will be questioned regarding his whip use in the straight. RACE 8 [TF0268] KRANJI STAKES A LC (A) 1200M CAVALLO (S John) jumped awkwardly outwards and made contact with the hindquarters of MAGNETO (N Juglall). METEOR MIKE (I Saifudin) began awkwardly. Near the 900m, SUPERNOVA (App Z Zuriman) was crowded between METEOR MIKE and HAPPY MONEY (B Vorster), which was inclined to lay outwards. Approaching the 800m, HUKA FALLS (M Rodd) had a tendency to shift inwards and away from MAGNETO, this resulted in METEOR MIKE being crowded in onto SUPERNOVA with METEOR MIKE and SUPERNOVA both losing ground. Near the 150m, HUKA FALLS dipped when awkwardly placed on the heels of HAPPY MONEY, which shifted outwards. Jockey Rodd reported that HUKA FALLS was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on DARCI CHARMER (A Munro) which revealed no apparent abnormality. 6
RACE 9 [TF0269] CECF SINGAPORE PRESTIGE CLASSIC S PORE-G3 LC (A) 1400M After arriving at the barrier, both WIMBLEDON (CW Brown) and KNOW EACH OTHER (N Juglall) had their saddles readjusted. Shortly after the start, KNOW EACH OTHER shifted inwards and made contact with MEXICAN GAL (A Munro). KIWI KARMA (M Nunes) had to be restrained on a number of occasions between the 800m and the 500m when racing to the inside of WIMBLEDON. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed. KIWI KARMA was momentarily held up shortly after making the turn into the straight. Approaching the 200m, A LA VICTORY (C Newitt) shifted inwards abruptly resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced and thereafter having to straighten his mount for a number of strides. A LA VICTORY then shifted outwards and raced greenly over the final 100m. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on A LA VICTORY which revealed no apparent abnormality. RACE 10 [TF0270] CECF SINGAPORE CUP S PORE-G1 LC (A) 1800M Due to the delay in the horses arriving at the Parade Ring following the Pre- Race entertainment, this race was put back five minutes and rescheduled to start at 1825Hrs. After arriving at the barrier, MING ZHI COSMOS (M Nunes) had its saddle readjusted. AUVRAY (B Shinn), which was fractious in the barrier, was taken out, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race. After being passed fit to race, AUVRAY kicked out whilst attempting to be reloaded resulting in him sustaining a cut on its right stifle. AUVRAY was again examined and acting on veterinary advice, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1830Hrs. In terms of MRA Regulation 24.2, it must be presented to an Official Veterinary Surgeon prior to being declared to race again. BAJAN (J Spencer) jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped ZULULAND (C Newitt). 7
ZULULAND raced keenly in the early stages. ORBEC (T Berry) made the turn into the straight wide. ZULULAND had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight. RACE 11 [TF0271] CLASS 3 LC (A) 1200M Due to a delay in the start time of Race 10 and the Post Race Presentations, this race was put back fifteen minutes and rescheduled to start at 1915Hrs. As there was no similar claiming rider available, the Stewards gave permission for App R Rueven to replace App T See on BLUE DIAMOND. KNIGHT SPIRIT (TH Koh) was slow into stride and showed no early pace. Near the 1000m, STIRLING (M Nunes) eased when crowded between SPUN GOLD (CW Brown), which rolled inwards and LASER STORM (A Munro), which rolled outwards. Shortly after passing the 1000m, LASER STORM eased when crowded for room to the inside of SPUN GOLD, when BEST TOTHELIGN (J Powell) shifted outwards and away from PHILANTHROPIST (R Woodworth), which was racing keenly. SPUN GOLD raced wide throughout. Shortly after making the turn into the straight, KNIGHT SPIRIT was taken outwards to obtain clear running. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on SPUN GOLD which revealed that the gelding returned lame off-fore. SPUN GOLD will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again. Jockey T Berry reported that STRAIGHTTOTHEPOINT was making respiratory noises. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality. 8

GENERAL SINGAPORE FEBRUARY MEETING 2015 SUNDAY, 08 FEBRUARY 2015: RACE 1 [TF0194] On Sunday, 22 February 2015, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the reasons for EASY EASY (N Juglall) having to check when racing between DYLAN (M Nunes) and CALIFORNIA SUN (App MM Firdaus) and POWER LIN (App R Zawari) near the 150m. It was established that approaching the 150m, CALIFORNIA SUN steadied when POWER LIN shifted outwards under pressure. Shortly after, EASY EASY was carried inwards when DYLAN laid inwards. This resulted in EASY EASY being eased when racing tight between DYLAN and CALIFORNIA SUN. In the circumstances, no blame could be attributed to any rider and as such, no further action was taken. However, App Zawari was warned and advised that he must exercise greater care when shifting ground in future. SINGAPORE FEBRUARY MEETING 2015 FRIDAY, 20 FEBRUARY 2015: RACE 4 [TF0252] At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Sunday, 22 February 2015, Jockey A Munro, the rider of WINNING STAR, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding WINNING STAR in Race 4 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 20 February 2015, near the 400m, he made insufficient effort to straighten his mount WINNING STAR thereby resulting in SACRED SPIN being crowded and having to be checked. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from Jockey Munro that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 27 February 2015 and Sunday, 01 March 2015. The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 02 March 2015 until Sunday, 08 March 2015 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days).
