Hamilton, Sunday June 11 th Race 8 - COX RURAL NARACOORTE BM58 HANDICAP - 1200 metres: Angus Carolus - Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the late withdrawal of the gelding. It was established that the gelding had inadvertently received the incorrect feed which contained an alkalising agent. In all the circumstances Stewards accepted the explanation of trainer Tammy Pretlove and no action was taken. Friday May 9 th Stewards concluded an inquiry into the analyst findings of a sample provided by licensed jockey Tom Ryan at Warrnambool on May 4 th. After taking evidence from Tom Ryan and AJA representative Matt Hyland, T Ryan pleaded guilty to a charge of having delivered a urine sample, which was found on analysis, to contain the presence of oxycodone and oxymorphone, (a banned substance under the rules), at Warrnambool on May 4 th 2017. In assessing the matter Stewards took into account that Tom Ryan had been prescribed oxycodone (which contains oxymorphone) by his doctor for pain relief after a race fall at Bendigo. Further it was noted that Tom Ryan had fully disclosed this medication at the time the sample was taken. Under the circumstances, Tom Ryan was suspended from riding in races and track work from May 29 th, the day he was stood down, and to expire June 14 th, effectively time served.
