PATTERN 8 NRHA Patterns
PATTERN Horses may walk or jog to te center of arena. Horses must walk or stop prior to starting pattern. Beginning at te center of te arena facing te left wall or fence. 1. Beginning on te rigt lead, complete tree circles to te rigt: te first circle small and slow; te next two circles large and fast. Cange leads at te center of te arena.. Complete tree circles to te left: te first circle small and slow; te next two circles large and fast. Cange leads at te center of te arena. 3. Continue around previous circle to te rigt. At te top of te circle, run down te middle to te far end of te arena past te end marker and do a rigt rollback no esitation. 4. Run up te middle to te opposite end of te arena past te end marker and do a left rollback no esitation. 5. Run past te center marker and do a sliding stop. Back up to te center of te arena or at least ten feet (tree meters). Hesitate. 6. Complete four spins to te rigt. Hesitate. 7. Complete four spins to te left. Pole Bending Pole bending is a timed event. Te pattern is set up as sown in te following diagram. Eac pole is 1 feet (6.4 metres) apart and te first pole is 1 feet (6.4 metres) from te start line. Te exibitor sall enter te ring under control and after te gate as closed tey may start wen ready. A wistle signal may be used once te gate is closed. Timing sall begin as te orse s nose passes over te starting line and stops wen te orse s nose passes over te finis line. An electric timer, or at least two watces, sall be used to time eac exibitor. If watces are used te official time will be te average of te watces used. A orse may start eiter to te rigt or te left of te poles. Rider runs to te fartest pole and rounds tat pole and returns to te first pole by passing between eac set of poles, rounds te first pole, runs to te fartest pole by passing between eac set of poles, rounds tat pole, and ten directly back to te finis line. Two ands can be used on te reins regardless of type of bit, or age of orse. Knocking over a pole sall carry a 5 second penalty. Exibitors can touc poles wit teir ands. Bats and crops are allowed. A judge, at is discretion, may disqualify a exibitor for excessive use of a bat or crop. Exibitors are disqualified for not negotiating te pattern correctly, or crossing te finis line before completing te pattern. In te event of a first place tie, te tied exibitors will ave a run-off. Mecanical Hackamores are permissible, as well as tose bits listed in te Englis and Western Bit Clarification section. Exibitors must wear equestrian SEI-ASTM approved equestrian elmets tat are properly fitted and fastened in all Gymkana Division Classes at any 4-H event.
