TERM 2 Wow!! We are already in May, time is simply flying. We have had our first term in our beautiful new studio and it feels like home. How did we manage without it? We are very proud of our wonderful venue and we would like to keep our area clean and neat. Eisteddfod & Exam Season is upon us :) Many of our students will be competing in local Eisteddfods and taking part in their tap, jazz and hip hop exams this term. We all have a lot of preparation and work ahead. Good luck everyone : Please check right hand column for important dates for. We have put in as many dates as possible to allow for your forward planning. Thank you to all students and parents who supported the Crazy Hair, Costume week and Easter raffle. These were most successful fundraisers. Our dancers really put 100% into this, it was a fun week of craziness. DDQ Term 1 Stars Junior Dancer: Georgia Creevy. Georgia is a great little dancer who is improving at an phenominal rate. She is also part of our U8 Eisteddfod group and has shown tremendous potential. Intermediate Dancer: Lindsay Jefferys. Lindsay has started the year off with a bang. She is conscientious, hard working and is always striving to improve. Keep up the great work Lindsay. Senior Dancer: Jacinta Robinson. Jacinta always dances from the heart. She has such a passion for her dance and it shines through for all of us to enjoy. We love watching you Jay! Choreography Competition Our adjudicator, Gareth Belling, was with the Queensland Ballet Company for 10 years and is now an Independent Choreographer. Gareth was most impressed with the students and their ability to connect with the music. We were very impressed with the standard of work shown at the competition. Each year, our dancers get more creative with their pieces and it is always so rewarding sitting back and watching their choreography. Congratulations to all who took part. Eisteddfod Showcase Thank you to all the Parents and Students who helped support this great evening of dance. Meredith, Samantha and their team of helpers did a great job on the catering side of things. The students were all very excited to show off their dances and did a great job. The love of dance and enthusiasm was evident in all their performances. We received wonderful feedback from parents on how impressed they were with what their children have achieved in such a short time. Lots of hard work and dedication comes from every single dancer in the Eisteddfod team. They all took 3 to 4 days off their Easter holiday to come in and work together as a team. : AIDT Exams: Mon 16 th to 20 th Big thank you to all our Eisteddfod mums and dads for all the support with Summer School, Eisteddfod Rehearsals & Easter School. AIDT Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop Exams The Exam Session will be held from Monday 16 th to Friday 20 th June in Studio 1. Times will be available shortly. Mock Exams for tap and jazz, will take place on Saturday 31st May and Sunday 1 st Hip Hop dance off in St Paul s PEC TBA. RAD BALLET EXAMS The entries for the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet exams have been processed. The exams will take place in mid August. All students who are entered for these exams are required to attend the Winter School during the 2 nd week of the school holidays from Monday 7th to Thursday 10th July.
