4-H LIVESTOCK SHOWS - RULES SHOWMANSHIP AWARDS Will be given in Beef, Dairy, Sheep, Swine, Goat, Poultry, Rabbit and Cat *** All showmanship awards will be given out during Recognition Night 2016 *** All Livestock Showmanship classes are for Greene County 4-H exhibitors only. No class premiums will be paid. Beef: Showmanship Awards will be judged in three age groups: 8 & 9, 10-12, and 13 & over. After a 4-H member wins in their age division, the following year they must compete in the next age division. Once they have won the overall showmanship honor they then become ineligible to participate in showmanship at future Greene County 4-H Fairs. Dairy & Sheep: Showmanship Awards are not judged in age groups, one overall award is given in each division. Poultry: Showmanship awards will be judged in two age groups: Junior (age 8 13) and Senior (age 14 & over). Prior to the 4-H Fair, Poultry exhibitors will receive showmanship study guides to help them prepare for the showmanship competition. Swine: Showmanship awards will be judged in two age groups: Junior (age 8 13) and Senior (age 14 & over). Winners of Swine showmanship divisions the prior year (i.e. 2015) are not eligible to win during this current year (i.e. 2016). Goat: Showmanship Awards will be judged in two age groups. Junior ages 8-13, (meat & dairy together) and Senior ages 14 and over (meat & dairy together). Regardless if the exhibitor has won a showmanship award during the previous 4-H Fair, they are still eligible to compete in the Goat Showmanship competition the following year. Judging is based on: Decoration and attractiveness of exhibit (20 points); Clean, neat and presentable exhibit area (60 points); Cooperation with fair management and promptness in show ring (20 points) and completeness of entry forms (20

points). The herdsman scorecard is included in the 4-H Fair Book so exhibitors will have an understanding of the Herdsman judging criteria. It is recommended that this scorecard be reviewed by the exhibitor! Shaffer Angus Farm Beef Traveling Trophy Award is given to the club accumulating the most points at the Greene County 4-H Fair in the areas of beef exhibits, live animal demonstrations and livestock judging. Scores will only be counted for those members who participate in all three areas. Grievance Procedure Should a problem arise during the 4-H Fair, the problem should first be taken to the Chairperson or Superintendent in charge of that particular area. However, if the question or problem cannot be settled, the problem should then be brought to the attention of the 4-H Fair Committee. The 4-H Fair Committee will use their best judgment in resolving the issue which may include, but not be limited to, the following options: Discussion with involved parties and Superintendent in charge to determine a resolution Appoint an Ad Hoc Committee during the 4-H Fair consisting of other area Superintendents to determine a resolution Appoint an Ad Hoc Committee consisting of other area Superintendents to determine a resolution after the end of the 4-H Fair Present the issue at the next scheduled Leader s Council meeting to determine a resolution. 2016 Missouri Show Me Quality Assurance Policy All 4-H members enrolled in food animal projects (including beef, sheep, swine, dairy cattle, meat and dairy goats, rabbits, and poultry) must complete the appropriate level of Missouri Show Me Quality Assurance (MSMQA) certification to be considered a 4-H Member in good standing in that project. Other county good standing guidelines may also apply. Check with your local 4-H Youth Specialist for current local guidelines. Greene County 4-H Fair Food Animal Project Exhibitors MUST include a copy of their MSMQA certification card with 4-H Fair Livestock Entry Form. Additionally, Exhibitors SHOULD be prepared to present their MSMQA card at check-in if requested by the Superintendent. Definition of Missouri Show Me Quality certification status terms: (Ages are determined by January 1 of the program year) MSMQA Qualified to Show means the 4-H member (age 8 13) has participated in Missouri Show Me Quality Assurance in either the face to face training or tutorial by June 1 of the 4-H program year. ( this is the first vaccine ). MSMQA Conditionally Certified this is the second vaccine for youth age 8 to 13. Conditionally certified means the member has participated in two consecutive years of MSMQA training or tutorial. Once they obtain a conditional status they do not have

to take a booster course until they are 14 (age by January 1). Upon completion of the booster course they would be MSMQA Certified for the remainder of their youth exhibition career in 4-H. MSMQA Certified - Certified applies to youth in 4-H who have turned 14 by January 1. Upon completion of MSMQA in either a face to face or tutorial no further training will be required for the remainder of their youth exhibition career. General Rules and Regulations Greene County 4-H Livestock Shows I. Objectives of 4-H Livestock and Dairy Shows A. To develop leadership, initiative, self-reliance and other desirable character traits. Development of boys and girls through their experience in animal care justifies the event of a livestock show. A learning experience is the primary objective, winning is secondary and the animals are merely teaching tools. B. To provide opportunities to learn breeding, feeding, management, and grooming subject matter and skills. Show provides unlimited learning experiences. Designed to be more educational than competitive. C. To provide a setting where decision-making and judging ability (evaluation of differences) can be learned. D. To provide fun and enjoyment as a part of learning practical skills and subject matter. II. RULES AND REGULATIONS---ALL YOUTH SPENDING THE NIGHT MUST BE SUPERVISED BY PARENT, GUARDIAN OR CLUB LEADER. A. Enrollment B. Age 4-H Members may exhibit and show only in projects in which they are enrolled in the current 4-H year. Likewise, the 4-H Member must be a member in good standing with his/her local club, including attendance at a majority of project meetings held, and at least half of the club meetings held. Club and Project Leaders should verify a 4-H ers member in good standing status prior to that member entering exhibits or showing at the 4-H Fair. If you aren t sure about your status, please check with your Club leader. Minimum Age: Must have passed their 8 th birthday by January 1, of the current year. All 4-H ages are based on January 1 of current year. C. Ownership The 4-H member must own all livestock and dairy animals used as projects. 4-H members may own 4-H project livestock in partnership with other 4-H and/or FFA members who are immediate (brother/sister) family members. In the case of breeding livestock, they may have them registered jointly with immediate family members. All registration papers must be present at check in. All unregistered animals will show in composite classes. D. Conduct Reminders 4-H members and family are expected to conduct themselves according to the tradition of the 4-H organization. Unsportsmanlike conduct (drinking, stealing, vandalism, indiscreet behavior, or inappropriatelanguage) will not be tolerated. Any violation on the part of an exhibitor, his/her family, friends, or representative may result in dismissal of the exhibitor from participating in 4-H Fair events. If any alcohol, drugs or fireworks are found or are being used on the premises by a 4-H member or family member, they will be asked to leave, and referred to Leaders Council for possible discipline. Any flagrant disregard for any of the rules and regulations may be cause for disqualification. NO SMOKING is allowed on any part of the grounds by City Ordinance. Please make sure all 4-H members and families are aware of this policy and strictly adhere to the NO SMOKING policy. E. Showing The individual 4-H owner must show all entries unassisted. Another 4-H member may assist in showing an animal in case of illness or physical disability, or when two animals are shown in the same class. Animals must be presented before the judge unassisted by adults. EXHIBITORS ARE ENCOURAGED TO DRESS APPROPRIATELY. DAIRY: please note dress code for showing. Exhibitors should be responsible for the care and grooming of their own animals with no outside professional help. (Professional help outside the immediate family). The 4-H Member s official project leader may assist when needed. (Leader must be enrolled with Greene County 4-H and have cleared a background screening.) At least one adult from each club must participate in a majority of the Leaders Council meetings by and including the April meeting for their club members to be eligible to participate in any county 4-H event during the year. No animals receiving red or white ribbons will be considered for reserve or grand champion. No Junior or Senior Champion rosettes will be awarded where there is no competition. Any unethical practices will not be tolerated; failure to provide food, water and bedding is grounds for dismissal from showing. F. Bathing One wash rack is available for cattle, sheep, or goats. G. Housing No overnight housing is available. H. Entries + Late Entries Pre-Entry is required. Entries due to Greene County 4-H Leader s Council by June 6. Late entries will be accepted until June 20.. Late entries will be charged a $25.00 fee per 4-H Member, per species. After June 20 no additional entries will be accepted. This deadline will be enforced. Substitutions can be made for any animal entered but additions will not be allowed. I. Milking There absolutely will be no dumping on the fairgrounds or in the sewers. Milk cans are not available. J. Arrival Time All sheep, swine, goats, dairy, beef, poultry, rabbits, as well as bedding and tack MUST be in place by one hour before their respective shows. K. Release Time All Greene County livestock shall be released at the conclusion of their respective shows. Awards Presentations Ceremony will be on Sunday, June 26, 2016.

ANIMAL HEALTH REQUIREMENTS FOR EXHIBITION The following is a SUMMARY, and not a reprint of 2 CSR 30-2.040 Animal Health Requirements for exhibition regulations. Contact the Missouri State Veterinarian s office at (573) 751-4359 for clarification on the following. 1. Certificate of Veterinary Inspection/General Requirements. A. All animals must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection unless specifically exempted. The Certificate of Veterinary Inspection shall state that the animals are free of visible signs of contagious, infectious, or communicable disease, and describe the animal(s) by species, breed, sex and age. The Certificate of Veterinary Inspection shall reflect all data for required test and vaccinations, all dates, results and the name of the laboratory. B. The Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is valid for thirty (30) days. C. Animals with active lesions of ringworm with resulting loss of hair or warts easily visible without close examination will not be permitted to exhibit and shall be subject to isolation or expulsion depending upon the nature and seriousness of the disease. D. Sales scheduled in association with exhibitions must employ a veterinarian to examine animals and process Certificate of Veterinary Inspection for change of ownership. The following are requirements for animals EXHIBITED in Missouri. Animals sold in addition to being exhibited must meet the entry requirements of Missouri. 2. EXHIBITION REQUIREMENTS FOR CATTLE IN MISSOURI. A. Intrastate (cattle in Missouri moving for exhibition only). 1. No Certificate of Veterinary Inspection required. 2. Brucellosis no test or vaccination is required. 3. Tuberculosis no test is required. the purpose of exhibition. 7. EXHIBITION REQUIREMENTS FOR POULTRY AND WATERFOWL A. Intrastate (poultry and waterfowl in Missouri moving for exhibition only) 1. All poultry and waterfowl to be exhibited must be free of clinical signs of any infectious or contagious disease. 2. No Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is required 3. Pullorum-Typhoid test. All poultry (except waterfowl) exhibited shall be tested negative for pullorum-typhoid within ninety (90) days prior to exhibition or originate from a flock approved by the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) or an equivalent program which has been tested within the past twelve (12) months with no change of ownership. This information shall be documented on a VS Form 9-2 (see 2 CSR 30-8.020) or similar certificate which shall accompany the poultry to the exhibition and shall be made available on request. 10. EXHIBITION REQUIREMENTS FOR DOGS AND CATS. A. Intrastate (dogs and cats in Missouri moving for exhibition only). 1. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is not required. 2. Dogs and cats four (4) months of age or older must be vaccinated for rabies by one (1) of the methods and within the time period published in the current Compendium of Animal Rabies Vaccines by the National Association of State Public Health Veterinarians, Inc. 3. EXHIBITION REQUIREMENTS FOR SWINE A. Intrastate (swine in Missouri moving for exhibition only) 1. All swine must be free of clinical signs of infectious or contagious disease. 2.
