ROUND 1 U21 COUNTY FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP Valley Rovers 1.14 V s Castlehaven 0.11 Valley Rovers U21 Footballs took on Castlehaven in the first round of the county championship in Dunmanway on Sunday. Valleys made the better start and lead by four point to one inside the opening quarter with points coming from Billy Crowley (2), Eoin O'Reilly and Pa Hurley. Into the second quarter and Valleys continued to be on top with both Eoin O'Reilly and Billy Crowley both kicking two points each. Castlehaven got their first point from play in the 25th minute of the half. It was quickly followed by a point from a free. Pa Hurley kicked the last point of the first half to give Valleys a 0-9 to 0-3 half time lead. Into the second half Castlehaven kicked the first point in the opening minute. Valleys responded with a goal from Billy Crowley. Castlehaven kicked the next three points to leave Valleys ahead by five at the three quarter mark. Into the final quarter Valleys outscored Castlehaven five points to four with the points from Billy Crowley (2). Adam Settini, Colm Butler and Pa Hurley. It left the full time score Valley Rovers 1-14 Castlehaven 0-11. Valleys now move to the county quarter final where they will either play Aghada or Kilmurry. This will likely be played in July. SE JUNIOR B FOOTBALL LEAGUE Valley Rovers 0.07 V s Ballinhassig 0.06 On Tuesday last Valley Rovers played Ballinhassig in round 3 of the Junior B football league. In a very even game overall it was defenses on top for most of the game with scores hard to come by. The score at half time was Valleys 0.02 to Ballihassig 0.03. The second half was a bit more open but poor shooting left both sides down. With 5 mins left on the clock Valleys trailed by 0.04 points to 0.06 but 3 late points by Valleys gave them a one point win. The 3 points coming from Tadgh Fitzgerald (2) and Richard Butler. Best for Valleys on the night were Bill Casey, Ciaran Cronin, Colm Butler, Richard Butler, Tadgh Fitzgerald and Andrew O Callaghan. On Wednesday 31 st of May the Students of 4 th /5 th /6 th Class of Scoil Mhaoiliosa headed for Pairc Ui Rinn to compete in the finals of the Scaith Na Scol Hurling and Camogie Competitions. LADIES FOOTBALL The Boys were victorious on a Scoreline of Knockavilla 5.05 V s Ballinaspittle 2.04 LUCY REPERSENTS VALLEY IN PRIMARY GAME Well done to Valley Rovers player Lucy Callanan who lined out with Cork in the Primary Game at halftime in the Munster Football 1/4 Final. The Girls were victorious on a Scoreline of Knockavilla 1.00 V s Ballinaspittle 0.01 CAMOGIE On arrival back to Knockavilla, Principal Orla O Shea thanked Valley Rovers for their help in preparing these teams and in particular to the Coaches who come to the school every Friday.
