After the 12th grade, we will start with kindergarten and work up to the 8th grade. If you are showing cattle and goats, we will not be able to wait on you to get done in one ring, to come and show in the other ring. We hope that we have adjusted the schedule to avoid any conflicts. Georgia Young Farmers Goat Show Rules 1. The show will be open to all counties in Georgia. Classes are open to 4-H and FFA members through the 12th grade (plus pre- club age children in grades K-4 and at least five years of age by September 1.) 2. This show is open to any breed or crossbred wether or doe. 3. Goats will be weighed and divided into classes. There will be a wether show and a market doe show. Goats must meet a minimum of 35 lbs. Goats not making minimum weight will be sifted from the show and returned to the exhibitor. No entry fee refund will be given for goats that are sifted from the show. 4. Goats must have their milk teeth. Goats showing either or both of the first pair of the permanent incisors will not be able to show. 5. All goats must be dehorned or have horns tipped. 6. All goats must be entered by a tag number. Exhibitors must show the goats they enter, no substitutions. 7. Each exhibitor may show one goat in showmanship. The goat shown must be entered in the show and owned and entered by the exhibitor. 8. Only show officials and exhibitors allowed in the show ring. 9. Entry fees are $28.00 for first goat. Each additional goat is $20.00. 10. There will be a pen fee. The fee is $8.00 per pen that you need. Pen fees are non-refundable. One pen is included in the entry fee for your goat. 11. The goats must have an official health certificate (health paper), according to State Department of Agriculture Health Regulations. 12. Entry deadline is August 4, 2017. Late entry fees are $30.00 per goat. Late entries will be accepted August 5 August 18. Late entry fees are non-refundable. Entries received after August 18, 2017 will not be accepted.

Eligibility: Only Georgia FFA and 4-H members are eligible. Drugs and Diuretics: Administration of any drug of any kind or description internally or externally is prohibited, except for treating a recognized disease or injury as prescribed by a licensed veterinarian. For the purpose of these rules the term drug shall mean: any substance, the sale, possession or use of which is controlled by license under federal, state or local laws or regulations and any substance commonly used by the medical or veterinary professions which affect circulatory, respiratory or central nervous systems of an animal to include diuretics. The use of any diuretic for any purpose whatsoever on any animal in the show is prohibited. Show management reserves the right to take blood and/or urine samples for analysis. Any violators will be reported to the appropriate state and federal authorities. 2. Exhibitors may enter as many animals as they wish. 3. An original registration certificate in the exhibitor s name (no farm name accepted) is required on all registered heifers. Heifers and steers are required to be individually identified (tattoo, ear tag or brand). Georgia State Tags are not required for the show. 4. Heifer Information: Heifer ages will conform to the new State show Rules. Commercial heifers will be weighed but should conform to the age listed above. There will be no declaring of weights for commercial heifers or steers, and there will be no weigh backs. 5. Steer Information: Steers will be shown by breed and weight if enough steers are entered in the show to warrant breeds. Breed must be entered on entry form. Three classifiers will independently determine if a steer is entered correctly, if not, they will recommend an appropriate breed or the steer will be automatically moved to the crossbred class. Breeds with 10 head or less will be shown in at least two classes. 6. Every effort will be made to have as less a weight spread as possible in each class. Those breeds with less than five head could possibly be shown as All Other Breeds (AOB). 7. An official health certificate as required by Georgia Department of Agriculture regulations must accompany steers and heifers. (Refer to 2016-2017 Georgia 4-H and FFA State Livestock Shows rules and Regulations for details.) 8. Cattle will be tied on shavings; no straw allowed in barn.

9. Filling of steers and heifers with any substance, water included, is prohibited. False tailheads and false switches will not be permitted. All animals must be shown in their natural conformation, color and structure without alteration by modification except for the grooming and treatment of the hair and trimming of the hooves. No graphite, hair, cotton twine, etc. may be applied. The use of black paint is allowed but should not be applied where it interferes with the fitting of breeds that are not black. Paint should not be gotten on concrete floors or walls or where it is blown by fans. 10. Fees: Entry fees will be $35.00 per calf. Entry deadline is August 4, 2017. Entries postmarked after August 4 will be charged a 10.00 late entry fee per animal. Entries will not be accepted if received after August 18, 2017. Tie spaces will be assigned depending on available spaces. 12. All exhibitors participating in showmanship must show their own animal. Exhibitors in showmanship will not be allowed to change their animal once the showmanship class starts. 13. The use of nose tongs will not be allowed to exhibit steers or heifers. Please leave unruly animals at home. If an animal gets away from exhibitor it will be up to the ringmen and the judge if and when the exhibitor needs to leave the show arena.
