It s difficult to believe that the holidays are almost upon us. Seeing the green grass and warm temperatures fooled us into believing that summer was going to stay. But yesterday changed that thinking!! The snow is beautiful, though, especially for this time of year. WINTER II SPORTS Winter 2 Athletic Sign-ups will be available beginning Monday, December 11th for Girls Basketball, Boys Wrestling and Boys Swim & Dive. Athletes must have a sports physical and athletic code turned into the office prior to the first day of tryouts/practices. SKI AND SNOWBOARD INFORMATION Ski & Snowboard Club: HPS Students, siblings and parents interested in purchasing Discount Ski Club Cards to Bittersweet Ski Resort in Otsego, should sign up now with the new Eagle Ski & Board Club online system. You will be able to purchase club cards ($16), bus passes (Middle School and Highs School - $20) and Eagle ski and board merchandise, along with club apparel. Cards allow discounted rates on lift tickets and rentals. eagleskiclub17.itemorder.com General registration due Friday, December 15 Cards that were ordered during the Early Registration will be here on Wednesday, Dec. 13th. BAND BLAST: THANK YOU to all who made last Wednesday s concert a huge success. As I reflected with the students this past Thursday, that concert will leave a lasting impression in my memory for years to come. I could not be more proud of our students! Our 7th and 8th grade JAZZ BAND s next rehearsal is Thursday, December 14th. All are encouraged to attend! 6th Grade Band parents should have received information today regarding our Charms program. Please let me know if there are questions or concerns! 8th Grade Band students will be traveling to HFC the morning of December 20th during first and second hours to view the Wind Ensemble and receive information regarding HS Band from Mr. VanderWall. Baldwin and Riley Street Middle Schools are excited to announce their production of Disney's Aladdin Jr.! Students will have the opportunity to apply to be part of the backstage crew or audition to be part of the cast or dance corps. Students who participate on the backstage crew will be responsible for building/painting the set, making costumes, sourcing props, and running the production during the performances. Students who are part of the cast will act, sing, and dance on stage. Members of the dance corps will focus on three production numbers. Backstage applications are due to Mrs. Maurice on or before Tuesday, January 23. Auditions for the cast are on Tuesday, January 23 and Wednesday, January 24. Auditions for the dance corps are on Sunday, January 27. Packets with complete details, including applications and rehearsal calendars, are available in the main office. CHOIR CHAT: Please mark your calendars for our Winter Concert this coming Monday, December 11 at 8:00 p.m. at the Hudsonville Fine Arts Auditorium. Warmups and attendance will begin in the orchestra room at 7:20 p.m. Students are required to wear their black and white formal choir uniforms. Please invite family and friends to join in some holiday cheer. The eighth grade choir will be performing holiday music for local retirement communities on Friday, December 22. The students will be visiting the residents of Allen Springs and American House during the school day. We will leave during 2nd hour and return at the end of fourth hour. Included will be a lunch stop. Parents, please contact Mrs. Scott if you are available to accompany us as a chaperone. We are looking forward to delivering good will and cheer to many senior citizens. Each month the students in each choir are recognizing peers who demonstrate outstanding choir character. This month we would like to acknowledge: Taylor Parkins, Nora Hans, Emelia Johnson, Carson Bell, and Chelsea Van Der Meulen for working harmoniously with all other students in the choir. Thank you to these students for embodying a sense of community within their ensembles.
