Page 4 UNT Ice Hockey Club UNT Ice Hockey Club Page 5 Purpose of the Organization American Collegiate Hockey Association Mission Statement The University of North Texas Ice Hockey Club provides a fun and positive environment for all UNT students to develop their hockey skills. We provide coaching for those new to the game as well as a very competitive game schedule for those who have played at a high level of hockey. We play Texas schools such as UT, Texas A&M, UTSA, and SMU. Twice a year, UNT Ice Hockey travels to Regional Showcase Tournaments in California and Colorado. The UNT Ice Hockey Club is a member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). Additional league requirements for academic eligibility are 9.0 credit hour enrollment, GPA 2.0/4.0, and in Good Academic Standing with the University. Try-Outs Forward Plano, TX Due to the competitive nature of the University of North Texas Ice Hockey club and the chance of injury incurred by playing the sport of ice hockey, tryouts will be held each year as part of the membership selection process. These tryouts are meant to allow all prospective members to showcase their skills so that coaches may select those students who best demonstrate the qualities necessary in accomplishing the objectives of the club. This selection process is meant to protect the competitiveness of University of North Texas Ice Hockey as well as the health and well being of its members.
Page 8 UNT Ice Hockey Club UNT Ice Hockey Club Page 9 League Dues/Payments David Wirth Dues All members of the University of North Texas Ice Hockey club will be subject to pay monetary dues to help financially support the team. The team is self sufficient and exempt from scholarships. This means every team member is required to equally split the cost of practice/game ice, ACHA referees/score keepers, training staff, coaches, team equipment and travel costs. Dues will be equal cost among all active members. Payment Plan Forward Flowermound, TX The payment plan approved by University of North Texas Ice Hockey requires half of the total league dues to be paid each semester. Further breakdown of payments must be approved by University of North Texas Ice Hockey through the Recreational Sports Department.
Page 10 UNT Ice Hockey Club UNT Ice Hockey Club Page11 Required Equipment Robbie Lopes No Equipment Provided The members of the University of North Texas Ice Hockey Club must provide their own equipment for Ice Hockey. Equipment includes USA Hockey approved helmet with full face shield, skates, sticks, gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin guards, hockey pants, jerseys and socks. All members of the University of North Texas Ice Hockey Club must be registered with USA Hockey on an annual basis. All members must also carry individual health insurance coverage, either personal or via a student health plan. The team practices Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:30pm-11:45pm each week at Dr. Pepper Starcenter Valley Ranch. Team Schedule The Game schedule is produced by the ACHA and provided through the Recreational Sports Department at UNT. The season consists of a 25 game season along with two, four-game tournaments out of state. Home Games are played at Dr. Pepper Starcenter- Farmers Branch and are Free of charge. Additional Team Meetings/Fundraisers Defense Southlake, TX Members of UNT Ice Hockey are required to support in any fund raisers the club participates in. Additional Team Meetings may be introduced and are mandatory during the season.

Officers are nominated and voted on by the returning members of the club each year. Any returning member of the club in may be eligible for election as an Officer. Each member of the club elected as an Officer will serve in their position for one year. In the case that an Officer cannot complete his/her duties and resigns from the position, a new member of the club may be appointed by the President of the Club. The President is the liaison to the UNT Recreational Sports Director as well as a representative of the club for any league which the club decides to join. The President must complete and turn in all forms required by the Recreational Sports Department. The President must attend all meetings, unless substituted by another Officer. Goalie Houston, TX

It is his/her responsibility to organize team meetings and supervise the responsibilities of the Officers. The Vice President must attend all meetings unless substituted by another Officer. General Manager Forward Fort Worth, TX The General Manager of the University of North Texas Ice Hockey Club schedules practice ice time, game ice time, hires referees and scorekeepers, promotes the club and assists the President of the club. It is his/her responsibility to schedule venues for team meetings, practices, and home games. The Vice President must attend all meetings unless substituted by another Officer.

It is his/her responsibility to make sure all forms are filled out by the Members and submitted to the President for the ACHA and the UNT Recreational Sports Department. The cost varies each season depending on the number of practices and games. A member can expect to pay anywhere from $1500-$2500 per season for league dues, membership costs, and travel costs. How and where does the team travel? Each member is responsible for securing their own transportation to and from practices, games, and team events. Club Officers will provide travel reservations for out-of-state tournaments but the Does the team participate in fund raisers? The team does participate in fund raisers but each Club Sport is only allowed to accept a percentage of their annual costs.
